Do you use cheats in video games?

Posted

Personally, after beating a game 4 or 5 times, I create what I like to call a "fun save" and rain down all the action replay/gameshark codes on that one file.

nah cheats kill the challenge of playing

Cheating is the only way to get the most out of your game.

YOU CHEATER!

I used to cheat on TotA and KH2, to level up Drive Forms faster, but it's not really fun to do that now. I mean, the game gets way too easy. I retired my Game Shark now xD

Once I've beaten it clean, I would prob use them after to see how easy it is (e.g. I beat KH1 3 times before I used cheats to raise my health, exp, abilities)

Though with games like GTA I just used cheats and set people on fire (don't really play the game so I don't care about beating it)

And I aim to play sims without cheats and usually 5 minutes in I use it and make them permanently happy so they won't stop yapping

Not often, the only game I used cheats on was .hack//sign.

I'm not a big fan of cheating. :/

I don't use cheats

I use hilarious cheats for fun but other than that not really.

I only use cheats when I beat the game

I tend to make a seperate "game clear" file for cheating when it's around Final Fantasy 1-6

Pretty much only for Sims. Those things are impossible to make happy AND have them do exactly what you want them to do.

I only use cheats for pokemon after I've beaten it once. Master Balls and cheats that let me catch any pokemon...that way I can build my dream party^^ but I wouldn't use cheats for experience or extra health or anything like that. Takes the fun out.

Same here, and that's because I use the Sims 2 to make videos and stuff so I have a ton of hacks.

I used to use cheats a loooooong time ago on the SNES (back when I was five and didn't really know it was *cheating*, but instead thought they were just awesome codes by developers that wanted to make the game easier.  Nowadays I never use cheat codes, since it hurts my pride as a gamer, hehe.

Medal Of Honor: Rising Sun would be nothing without 'Clown Hats' cheat.

Once upon a time, yes. However, I screwed up my Pokemon Pearl game to a near unplayable state, which resulted in me having to delete the save file, and a special event Pokemon. Since then, I haven't cheated on any game. Never going to risk something like that happening again.

Only if it's something stupid or doesn't make the game easier. Like making all of the cars start flying or spawning a dinosaur in the closet or something.

No, I'm too stubborn to use cheats xD

Game: *Sora dies* Uggghhhh!!

Me: D8<

Game: You can use these! *cheat codes*

Me: Heck no! I'm going to beat the dude using these!! *brain and thumb*

Game *Sora dies again*

Me: Gah!!! D8< *retry*

And the process repeats xD

Yep, once I beat the game of course, but it depends on what games though. Like Pokemon I would go for 999 rare candies because some idiot programmer decided to remove auto lv 100.

Nah, I have more fun playing games without the cheats.

There are some games where I like using cheat codes, like in Midnight Club 2.

Also, using cheats on a Metroid game makes you way too overpowered.

Using cheats make feel the game not so fun in my opinion.
