What video game would you like to see as a live action film?

Posted

I was just thinking about video games and how many of them would actually make decent movies with live actors.  Sadly, I don't think there's that many.  Many games rely on their animation, and I just don't know if a live action film--with it's two-hour time limit--could do a video game justice.  However, I'd love to see pretty much any of the Final Fantasies made into a live action film, specifically VII and X.  I also would like to see a real "Zelda" film, whether it be based on Skyward Sword, Ocarina of Time, or Twilight Princess.

How about you guys?  What video game would you like to see made into a movie?

None. Kingdom Hearts MIGHT sell out before it even releases so...

None, really. But if it was some kind of online series, then it'd be cool to see Xenoblade done.

Especially if it's done right. owo

Metal gear solid 4

it's very hard. Kinda raises a conflict between wanting one and not wanting to be dissapointed by a most likely bad movie.

If I knew it would be good, KH movies and Final Fantasy would be awesome, and i'd support your Zelda idea fully xD

Portal 2 and/or Final Fantasy VII.

TWEWY would be nice i mean,i don't think it'd be too bad, they could make it into 3 parts, the first week,2nd and then 3rd,they could explain story much better.

alot of the ff games bioshock the mgs series dantes inferno and uncharted all i can think of right now

and twewy would make a good anime

I agree with the Zelda notion, the first to come to mind was Twilight Princess for me, but Skyward Sword might be interesting too, but only if it's pulled off right. And then for once in his life Link would have to talk haha...

I think Zelda would be hard. Link doesn't talk.

NOOOOOOOONE.

Most if not all Video Games turned Movies turn out Awful.

Uncharted, Assassins Creed, inFamous, a Batman saga based on the Arkham series, a movie for Jak and Daxter could actually maybe possibly remotely work... Final Fantasy 7 as a trilogy of films, the first movie going through Crisis Core, the second and third going through the main game.

Shadow of the Colssuss could be good if done right, as could Portal. Games like Uncharted and AssCreed you really cant get wrong, but some need to have some actual thought put into them.

No. Terrible adaptions.

God, Skyrim would be amazing.

Ohhhh yeah, I'd forgotten Link doesn't talk.  Well, hmm...  I think he'd be given dialogue for films, though, since it'd look pretty odd if he remained silent.

Now I like that idea!  Crisis Core would make an amazing movie.

i personally think live action kills they whole thing KEEP IT ANIMATED!!!!

I'd like to add Mass Effect to the list.

Video game movies are hard to do, I can't even think of one that has actually been good. The games need to be EXTREMELY story driven, to the point it's practically an interactive movie in the first place (Heavy rain for instance). There are some games that are very story driven and still heavy on gameplay, but the story and the gameplay work together. A Portal movie wouldn't work because the excitement you have of jumping through the portals and feeling trapped and hunted by a crazed computer isn't the same unless you are actually experiencing it.

Plus game stories are told over the course of around 6 hours average. A movie can't be no longer than 3, and dividing the story up into a trilogy or something is a huge money drain. Most trilogies don't start with the intention of becoming trilogies, the ending of the first Star Wars film (New Hope) seems like the movie is stand alone, and it originally was. The reason why they can get away with the newer star wars trilogy and the Hobbit trilogy is because the previous trilogy was very successful already.

Also, the live action takes away from the feel. It's hard to find (good) actors that even look like the character, let alone even play the part right.

Finally, movies simply have a smaller profit margin than games. You can charge 60 dollars for a game, but only 15 or so for a film, both can cost about the same amount of money to make these days too.

Agreed and most of games have unrealistic stuff on them and usually that unrealistic stuff looks kinda silly in live action. Especially any kind of superpowers that involve fastpaced movement and slashing lot with swords or something.

-Uncharted,if done correctly,it would be such a good movie. (Atleast,in my imagination)

-Shadows of the Collossus. Would be hard to do,but would be interesting.

-Final FantasyVI:Crisis Core. Oh gawd yes,Crisis Core. If done right, yes yes yes.

-Ico. Thinking about it for a while, would be an interesting innocent movie. But must be done right.

-.hack//. I don't know muc about this, but I would certainly would love to see this series in a live-action movie.

The Legend of Spyro.

Yeah, I've seen that done a fair bit as well.  But, with more recent technology and the way things are "animated" into films, I think some of the supernatural stuff could be weaved in quite well.  I do see your point though, and, generally speaking, it doesn't really work right.

I would do anything to see Crisis Core made into a movie, even if it did suck. :P

FF7 did have Advent Children, which is an animated movie

Pokemon and Kingdom Hearts both take my vote. xD

EDIT; And, maybe Mario, too. Dang that'd be interesting.
