Do You Like Remakes/Remasters?

Posted

So, pretty much what the title says. Do you like when a gaming company makes a remake/remaster of a certain game? Or do you hate them?

Depends on what they change honestly. I usually tend to like them though.

For Remasters I'm alright with them.

well i like them if they're NOT compilations of different games on diffrerent consoles entirely for a new consoles

but i kinda like them i guess

Kinda, I wish they would do more than HD textures, 16:9 ratio, ect Wind Waker HD is an example of how an HD remake SHOULD be

well i disliked the medievil remake...i guess if i liked the original and they remade it in some way that changed something i like then im not gonna like it but if i haven't played the old ones i tend not to care whats changed and thus its cool

it depends but usually im okay with it

Persona 4 Golden, I think, is the right way to do things. They didn't just scale up the graphics, but added so much more so that new and old fans can enjoy the game. Having played the original persona 4 so much that after finishing Persona 4 Golden, it felt like a new experience.

Some are good. Like the Ocarina of Time remake for the 3DS. I liked how they really updated everything-- homes felt a lot more homely, and weren't as barren like in the previous remakes.

I actually like them. They're not really different from studios putting old VHS movies onto DVDs or Blu-Rays, though in the case of remakes that isn't strictly the same concept. Still, I have no problem with good games being brought onto newer consoles.

Most of the time I like them :)

It depends on what it is and how they've gone about it. But I usually love HD remasters.

Not really. I've never been disappointed with a remake or remaster.

Yeah, but there's barely any remakes I like :P

Remasters, sure.

Remakes, depends on the game. I wanted a Pokémon RSE remake on the DS, but if it happens at all now then it'll be on the 3DS, and it'll be ridiculously different with those new graphics...

It really depends some remakes are better then originals. Now remasters I see pointless sometimes, but they're okay.

Depends but I usually like them :)

I love all remasters. Taking games that people may have missed from the previous generation, and bringing them to the current, is an excellent concept. There are people who were late to the party, and remasters help them catch up. Plus, nostalgia. People who loved the games, but no longer can play them because they no longer possess an older system, or because old SD games don't look good on modern HD tvs.

Remakes on the other hands, which are completely different, are good... if it was necessary. Games like re:coded are somewhat necessary, because not everyone could enjoy the original. Or a hypothetical remake of FFVII, which is good because it's a classic game that not everyone can still enjoy.

Some is awesome. Like theat games HD remasters, what not available anymore or rare. U can get in HD version. I think its really good. Another side, that sad, the developers get lazy, and not make new parts.

I'm okay with HD remasters and it's quite neat that I can easily play those older games that I have missed in past if finding original game is hard.

Remakes are awesome as long as they do them right

As long as work was actually done to the visuals instead of just upscaling, I love them.

If its a game like Final Fantasy 7, which would need a remake, yes(to be able to move around, etc. like in FF10). I would like that. I'm not interested in HD, but there is clearly a selling point to it. I only buy remasters for the nostalgia.
