    Yeah it's a real deal. Apparently in the future episodes of the X and Y anime series it will show Mewtwo-Yveltal's mutated form and Mewtwo-Xerneas's mutated form as well. The information is bleak (since the Anime hasn't started yet) but the form will appear to be cannon.

     

    Here's a picture hinting at it in Coro Coro that just came out (Also look at Ash's new clothing for the 6th Gen):
