Posted April 13, 201015 yr Whats the big idea behind sea salt ice cream? It seems everyone eats it yet it sounds terrible. Why do people like it? I'm talking about Roxas, Xion, Axel, Mickey, Ansem the Wise, Twilight town gang. Is there any significance behind it?
April 13, 201015 yr You mean the fact that the ice cream is salty? Maybe the big idea is just it's unique to mention. (It seems that I won't like it, though) ^wow nice info, it's based on the real world? japan really likes things weird..
April 13, 201015 yr Its a MacGuffin used for the plot in KH II & 358/2 Days usually in connection to friendship and bonds between people
April 13, 201015 yr I'm with CardCaptor. It's something to signify bonds. Why sea-salt? No clue. But if Xion, Axel, and Roxas eat it on a daily basis, it must be some damn good ice cream. lol.

Sea Salt Ice Cream is the thing for you.(They really have Sea Salt Ice Cream in Japan?)
April 13, 201015 yr I actually think that it'd be worty trying atleast once. I mean some stores sea salt for foods, and I guess that all you'd have to do would be to make regular ice cream, and mix sea salt into it.
April 13, 201015 yr Yeah, it is used as a symbol of friendship and a bond. I remember seeing a scene where Roxas looks upset and just lets the ice cream melt (or a scene like that), because he does not have friends around to enjoy it with. It gave them something to do and to be more "normal" and establish a bond of friendship.
April 13, 201015 yr yea now when you buy the ice cream and eat it you get like special magic or something and after you buy a certain amount of ice cream you get a special keyblade....or at least that is what i have heard. if its true i think thats going a little to far with the ice cream dont you think? (but not sea salt ice ceam anyways so whatever)
April 13, 201015 yr There are people who have actually said that it's good. But anyway, it symbolizes friendship and etc. I think even melting ice cream symbolizes loss of thought/motivation. And to anyone wondering, there actually is Sea Salt Ice Cream in a Disney SeaWorld-ish park in Japan. Nomura got the idea from that.
April 13, 201015 yr I might go to Japan just to try it... and go sight seeing while I'm there. But yeah, the ice cream definately symbolizes friendship... and the smiles that people get from eating it represent the satisfaction of hunger... maybe I'm thinking too hard on it.
April 13, 201015 yr I've always wanted to eat that ice cream......I have to go all the way to japan to get it? o_o
April 14, 201015 yr I've always wanted to eat that ice cream......I have to go all the way to japan to get it? o_o you don't have to go all the way to japan to taste it lol. google the recipe. i've tried it and that's some pretty damn amazing ice cream.
April 14, 201015 yr yes, the idea of sweet and salty flavors combining together doesn't sound that appetizing, so, maybe you could think of the intense goodness of those flavors separate, and then you just imagine that they will still taste as good together!
April 14, 201015 yr I'm surprised I haven't seen it at Japan's showcase in EPCOT at WDW. Then again, I haven't been at that certain showcase in a while, so maybe they'd have it now. I wish the whole treat-centered heartstring[or lack thereof] in Days was kaki gori. I freakin' love kaki gori. Or maybe Pocky. Everyone loves Pocky

Wow, how was it tasted (other than sweet but salty)? Was it hard to make one?
April 25, 201015 yr Well, they have this big thing wiht blue (why is EVERYTHING blue?!?!?!) and sea salt ice cream is blue. (and instead of having people fight over vanilla and chocolate and stuff, this just kind of settles it)
May 2, 201015 yr DANG I WANT THAT ICE CREAM! Imma find that recipe, and when me and my friends do our Org cosplay, I'm bringing some for the ride!
May 6, 201015 yr I made it weeks ago with some friends. It was pretty darn good. I think they make a big deal out of it because it's one of the things that brings them together. Axel, Xion, and Roxas all go to the Clock Tower to eat ice cream and be together. Its a sign of friendship and bonds that cant be broken I believe
May 6, 201015 yr wen i first read this thread I lol'd! well form what I see Sea Salt I cream is big in Japan. And so maybe they put it in as a memory or key to friendships!
May 8, 201015 yr Sea Salt ice cream is sooooo yummy 8D I found the recipe by googling it and made it with my family. I suggest all of you try it, it's delicious!
