I came across an article that Gameinformer that Square suffered a huge lost operation wise and they blame it on the sales in North America and Europe so much so that they even fired some people in the office at Los Angles and Europe.

But NA luvs square. Well this sucks. 

If only they came out with a popular game that could boost sales that has a K, a H, and maybe a 3 in there somewhere.

I personally blame that to the lack of Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Final Fantasy Type-0 localization and Kingdom Hearts 3.

KH3 and Versus XIII are to blame really. its because of that, Square is losing money. RELEASE VERSUS ALREADY !!! like honestly, when will they learn ?

They don't need to focus on mobile, they need to focus on platform! Of course Tomb Raider and Hitman didn't sell well, it's because that's not what Square is popular for, they also had this problem when the 3rd Birthday for PSP came out. Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, and Kingdom Hearts are the most popular games sold by the company, and they think delaying titles is what's going to solve it, no! Tomb Raider and Hitman sold more copies in North America and Europe anyway! If anything, it's Japan's fault! Sorry to rant, but this makes me upset. They wanted Tomb Raider to sell 10 million copies, Assassin's Creed 3 only sold about 4 million world wide, barely any games have gotten past the 10 million mark, they were already setting themselves up for failure.

I think that after seven years of waiting for a single game, they should know that we, the fans, support them no matter what.

Here's an idea Square, how about making REALISTIC SALES PREDICTIONS!

 

Unlike many fans, I don't think they're dragging their heels with Versus XIII and KH3, I think they just may have been a little to ambitious and bit off more then they could chew, leading to them constantly having to retool the engine to get it to do what they want without getting all janky. It can't be easy to combine a battle system ad intricate the KH ones with the near photo-realistic graphics of the current Final Fantasies.

And I can see why they aren't remaking FFVII. It would have to be re-built from the ground up and there's almost no one left at the company who is familiar with the programming of the original. Hate to break it to you but a this point a VII remake is completely impossible. Even if they tried the end result would be an abominable bastardization of the classic.

 

I believe that they set themselves an unobtainable goal and paid the price. I've said before that they made overly optimistic sales prediction and used a budget to match. I only hope that VsXIII comes out in time to save them from bankruptcy or another horrible merger.

Easier to make a new game than remake a classic. Even Shimomura said she had already forgotten a lot of the music programming for used in the first KH when time came to do the HD version and that game is a lot more recent than FFVII.

True. They should just make the game in the style of VII, but kinda make it like FFXIII.
