Every game of Monopoly I play either ends with someone throwing the board up and / or exposes the cracks in our relationships. But yeah, it's a fun game...if you play it right and don't use house rules that cause the game to go needlessly on because money keeps being circulated back into the game.

Monopoly is great game indeed, but it is quite annoying that after three hours of playing and you pretty much have won the game, someone rages and decides to flip table and the game is ruined. .

When I play monopoly, I like to imagine the kind of life people living in certain property lots have.  The longer the game goes, the more tragic those stories grow to be.  Now no one plays monopoly with me anymore.

I have bad memories of Monopoly due to getting broke fast and accidentally putting my mom in jail multiple times.  That's what I get for playing entrepreneur at age seven and why I'm not a Business major.

I gotta ask, has anyone ever played a  round of monopoly till the end?

2. Dairy Queen Blizzards

The Blizzard is nearly the perfect invention. You take your favorite candy, mix it with ice cream, and voila. I like how the two compliment one another: naturally, the candy helps give flavor to the ice cream, and on the flip side, the ice cream helps keep the candy crunchy, as well as helping to wash it down rather than have it coat your tongue (does any one else have that problem with chocolate bars, or is that just me?).

Having it in a cup is a good idea, too. I mean, I like a good ice cream cone as much as the next person, but if you don't eat it fast enough, it's gonna melt and drip through the bottom of the cone every time. With a Blizzard, you can take your time with it (although the environmentalist in me does wish there was a way to eat the cup afterwards instead of just throwing it away).

Favorite flavors include Oreo (with the shards of the cookie mixed with the ice cream, it's like you're really just eating one big Oreo) and Reese's Pieces (mainly just because Reese's is my favorite chocolate bar in regular times). I can remember one summer when I made it my goal to try every flavor that they offered. I don't think I made it, but it was a fun challenge none the less. It also helps that I live right next to a Dairy Queen, which is sadly closing next week. I don't know why, since I think I'm funding the place single handed.

3. Rainy days.

I really am not sure why I enjoy the rain now, when I hated it as a kid. I think it's because it feels like nature's way of saying, "You know what? Don't feel bad about not doing anything today. It's raining! Chillax." Also, the sound of rain is so darn relaxing, aided by the fact that you can't really hear anything else. Everyone that was outside that might have been making noise has gone inside, and you just have the sound of  rain. The smell of a rain storm is nice, too, before, during, and after. Everything smells nice and fresh. Rainy days are like the ultimate zen.

On the flip side, I've never been big on lightning and thunder. Once in a while is okay, but I'd prefer rain and rain alone, if I can get it.

I agree, rainy days every once in a while are really, really nice. It has been hot like hell here for some weeks and today it has been raining and I am quite happy about it. Air is feels really fresh and I don't need to sweat all the time. Also it is good change to do something inside like read book, listen music, play some instruments, even write (even though I am kinda bad at it), play chess or cards and stuff like that. Or even just lie down and enjoy the silent moment.

Also sound of rain is really relaxing, probably not for those who have roof made of plate or something.

Rain days= relaxation and cold=win.  Driving in rain=/=win, but still.

4. Essays

This one's a bit weird, but I actually really like writing essays. Something about accumulating a bunch of facts, opinions, thoughts, and other assorted bits of data and constructing them all into an entirely different argument and way of thinking. It's like a puzzle, only you have to find the pieces by reading and writing. Also, even if you're citing a multitude of sources, you're still putting them into a package that is definitively yours: its your thoughts, your angle, and your writing. There's nothing like piecing together a really good train of thought, and then getting to share it with other people. And that's sort of what an essay is: concentrated thinking. It just feels good to make a really solid essay, and know that its something you can stand behind.

I would've never guessed that about you :P

So I've been cooped up in the house for the month of May, and I've become increasingly irritable and grumpy. So, in an effort to maintain a positive point of view, for the month of June, I'm going to try and post one thing that i like per day in this thread.1. MonopolyI love this game. I got my first edition when I was about ten, and I still have it. And when I say Monopoly, I mean the real Monopoly, not one of the endless pop-culture spinoffs. I know all the properties like the back of my hand (though I will occasionally screw up the order in which they go), and for a while, I knew how much each one cost. Why do I like it so much? One of the big things is that I love the haggling and dealing. I like it when a game with an otherwise linear structure gives the opportunity for players to branch out and use their own skills to try and win. Sure, you could just roll the dice and let the chips fall where they might, but I like to try and make deals with other players, which opens up a whole new mechanic: depending on who you're playing with, you approach each person differently, and you have to try and figure out the best way to get them to give you what you want. And if you don't do it right, you might get trapped yourself. It just keeps you on your toes the whole time. Also, believe it or not, there is a great deal of strategy involved in Monopoly. Most people just buy every piece of property they land on without a second thought, but in fact, this is one of the worst things you can do. Don't blow your money on Atlantic when one person owns Ventnor and another owns Marvin Gardens: with the place split three ways, you'll never be able to make a deal with two other people to try and get your hands on the Monopoly. But, if only one person owns Marvin Gardens and Ventnor, then you would be wise to buy Atlantic, because not only do you block them from having a Monopoly, but you now have the sole piece of the puzzle they're looking for, and they are going to be far more inclined to deal with you in the future, probably with you dictating terms. And as far as the length of the the games go, well, I really like that too. A good game of Monopoly can take forever, but that's not a bad thing. If you're with a good group of friends, it's an excuse to hang out and mingle. It gives you something you can linger over and relax with while still having fun. So yeah. Monopoly. give it a whirl.

Man I am a pro at Monopoly. By far my favorite board game. Actually, you don't need to know this but I was locked up for awhile and me and a few buddies would play Monopoly and wager the snacks that we got each afternoon. I had so many bags of Chex Mix and Trailmix at the end of the day.

I have to agree with this as well.. I just really like writing essays. I feel like I can get better grades from exams with essays, because I am quite good at "explaining" things rather than giving short and precise answers.

You have a better attitude than I do about essays.  While you may have noticed I can be rather... wordy as well (in the thread I made about Kairi getting the short end of the stick, someone didn't even read it since it was so long), it only applies to things I care about--things I have to say that I want to say.  When I'm being forced to write something, you can't always reasonably expect me to do it well if I have no investment in the material.  Sure, I've gotten A's on essays where the subject is, at the end of the day, something I don't care about too much.  But, that only happens when I actually believe what I'm writing about, even if not completely, or I'm just compiling facts, like a research paper.

When it comes to things like writing essays on firetrucking poetry (please kill me), putting things together is a trial.  The actual act of putting them together is fine, but gathering things to put together is just AAAAAUGHG.  Seriously, when you make me write something that I really don't want to write, don't expect an A.
