Metal Snake-I understand, thanks for the offering but I am going to wait another year or two before I buy a Wii U.I want to buy a PS4, then Xbox One then a Wii U ( idk no why) The 3DS XL and the playstation 4 are the two pieces of hardware that I want the most this year. hope you are getting the 3DS version so we can play against each other.

That's what I'm doing right now :) im getting a PS4 then a 3DS then a Wii u sometime down the line :)

Kodakliv-smart move, hope I play with and against you in this year on either the 3DS or PS4 ( whenever I get one of the two).

I'll be getting the 3DS version too but I'm gonna spend most of my time on the Wii U version because I'll be playing the game with my two brothers as well as online

Actually, you can make a wishlist for Christmas and get someone to give you a Wii U as a free gift while you're saving for a Ps4Xbone

I won't be getting an Xbox One though,my 360 is collecting dust like a vacuum and I spent most of my time on Wii and Ps3

I'll get a Ps4 once KH3 or FFXV is out,but knowing Square Enix that'll be two or three years later before I get a Ps4

Remember in Brawl everyone thought DDD was a villain till Luigi, and Ness were revived by his brooches.

Uh why are we talking about PS4 and Xbox One when this is a discussion about a Wii U game? xD

Probably considering his popularity. They'll nerf him a bit, and then people wont complain. BUt then again, after 3 games, they still haven't nerfed Pikachu's spammable and OP Thunderbolt move. I know its his signature move, but still, seriously, ive seen so many people use Pikachu and spam thunderbolt. I can use it in my favor thanks to Lucas and Ness being able to absorb it, but still, its really annoying.

I've heard that they're planning on working harder on keeping things balanced, so I don't think we have to worry about that.

I'm seriously in love with Rosalina's moveset. Can't wait to play around with her controls.

From her design her I'm certain that Ashley(from the Warioware series) will be an assist trophy

Any idea when it'll be released? It'll be the last game I get this year due to more important things I want to get first but I'd like to know when it comes out.

Sakurai has promised the game will be released this year but he didn't specify which month the game will be released in

I think most likely we'll get a release date in E3 or in a new Direct episode

She's gonna turn everyone into spoons xD. Also, anyone else notice that her eyes are black instead of red?

She isn't listed as a new character, so yeah, she's an assist trophy. Nice to see some more new assist trophies!

Now if only we could have some assist trophies confirmed for the 3DS...

Super Smash Bros. director Masahiro Sakurai has posted a new 3DS screenshot teasing fans of the brawler and showing Mario in single-player mode. Further adding to the suspense, Sakurai has reconfirmed that neither version of the game will feature a story mode like Subspace Emissary, but there will be a single-player campaign mode. Previously, Sakurai said an additional mode would be added to the 3DS version and ”act as a separate mode from the standard versus play.”

The screenshot – which you can see above – also shows off a jungle stage on the 3DS, with Sakurai’s comment saying: “Where am I……??”

“Pic of the day. Where am I……?? To be clear, the new Super Smash Bros. games do not feature a story mode like The Subspace Emissary.” – Sakurai

I hope it'll be like the Adventure mode from Melee,I loved that mode

Yeah I wonder what that will be about?

Y'know,while that may never happen

I really....really....REALLY wish a Final Fantasy character like Cecil or Kain from FF4 to be in Smash Bros

They deserve it more than Snake and Sonic

Cecil can switch between between his Paladin and Dark Knight forms just like how Zelda changes between herself and her ninja self Sheik

And Cecil's Final smash can be the same one he has in Dissidia

Again,it may never happen,it's just my wish and it's nothing confirmed

Making a portable version had its appeal for him, as they'd be able to do a number of new things. At the same time, there would be limits, as they'd be handicapped in some areas when it comes to offering the usual enjoyment areas of Smash Bros.

Specifically, Sakurai feels that a portable system makes the game a more "individual" experience in that, compared to a console, it's easier to make players attached to the data that they've built up and collected. The fact that you're carrying the hardware with you makes for a more personal experience.

The difficulty here is that the current Smash Bros. games haven't relied on rewards, collecting money or raising your character's level. There's no element of gaining experience to make your character stronger, Iwata noted.

Adding the notion of experience would pose a dilmena, explained Sakurai, as there are some players who would get into such a game, while others would not like it. Iwata added that placing a focus on experience would also make the game lose its instant play quality.

What Sakurai hopes to do is have the 3DS version of Smash Bros. allow players to build up their character through battle and rewards, then take their custom character to the Wii U version to face off against everyone. He feels it could be nice if they can make the "personal" portable space and the stadium-like "public" console space mesh together.

Iwata summed it the basic idea nicely: players would spend time on the 3DS version, building up their character and collecting stuff, then show off their skills on the Wii U version.

This is an article from 2.5 years ago, back when Sakurai was still developing KIU. Its certainly very possible plans once he actually started work. However after the debut trailer 2 E3s later, Sakurai confirmed the existence of character customization but was vague about it: http://www.gamespot.com/articles/smashing-the-definition-of-smash-bros/1100-6410475/

At the very least the 3DS version is more single-player focused than Wii U. At the most, whatever is planned for the 3DS version is gonna turn the whole franchise on its head.

Watch it be Cloud instead.

I know it's gonna be Cloud anyway if it happened because of the huge popularity of FFVII

They couldn't do that actually. Cloud was never on a Nintendo system. Theatrhythm doesn't count, being a side game that wasn't too popular. :/ They'd only do a character who originated on a Nintendo platform, that's how they deal with third party characters.

Also, kinda irrelevant, but I honestly kinda wish that third party characters had never been introduced. Before anyone assumes otherwise, I'm happy to see Mega Man as a playable character. However, ever since Sonic and Snake came along, a lot of people went and assumed that any third party character, or even characters with no relations to Nintendo at all, could be included. I've seen people who made up whole movesets for Master Chief because they thought that he'd be eligible for Smash Bros. It just bugs me, honestly. :/
