I loved everything about Dragon Ball Z from the beginning if the Sayian Saga until the end of the Cell games.

 

It was really awesome.............................................until the piece of shit that is the Majin Buu Saga came to existence

 

The Majin Buu Saga has to be one of the worst Sagas I ever seen in anime

 

 

The ditched out EVERYTHING that made the previous Sagas so awesome,every single character is absolutely WORTHLESS and the whole spotlight is on Goku and Vegeta 98% of the time

 

The story of this Saga has fillers up the ass more than the previous sagas and all of the fillers are boring and it draaaaaaags to the point Goku takes 10 EPISODES to charge a f.ucking Spirit Bomb or anything for that matter,Goten and Kid Trunks whine and bitch like little assholes most of the time and their fusion is pointless because it doesn't take long for Super Buu to absorb them....the entire story of the saga is boring and makes no sense....but the worst offender....THE ABSULOTE WORST THING I hate about The Majin Buu Saga....is what they've done to my favorite DBZ Character.....Gohan.

 

Remember Gohan????The little Kid who trained with Piccolo and went from being a cry baby to the BADASS that kicked the living shit out of Cell????

 

Guess what????THEY COMPLETELY F.UCKED HIS CHARACTER and made him an absolute joke.

 

He barely does ANYTHING because his bitch mother Chi Chi tells him not to train and just like Gotenks....he's just there to get absorbed by Super Buu......That isn't even the worst part...you wanna know what's the worst part is........

All that matters to me is that it is fun to watch.

1. If you're ranting about characters like Goku and Vegeta being the only people getting the spotlight... dude, that's been happening since Z started. lol WAY too late to bitch about it.

 

2. Gohan pretty much redeemed himself with the Mystic Form, if I do say so myself, and him getting absorbed by Buu doesn't hinder that. Why? Because it's plot. It doesn't mean Gohan's a bitch. Gotenks and Piccolo are pretty strong characters, and they were the first to get absorbed. Even the oh so mighty Goku and Vegeta got absorbed during their Vegito fusion. Are you saying that Goku and Vegeta are bitches? I hope not.

 

3. Yes, the filler was bad. But hey, we have Dragon Ball Kai to fix that soon, so don't worry your pretty head about it.

 

4. The Chi-Chi defense can't be used here; its at this point in the story where she actually calms down about the studying bullshit. It's mostly Gohan being goofy that weighs him down at that point. lol Just Saiyan.

 

5. The point of Gohan being Saiyaman is comical, yes, but remember: he used that persona so that he could stop evil without looking like a half man, half monkey superman who can fly and shoot energy out of his hands. Why? I think it's pretty obvious.

 

6. Yeah, the Saiyawoman was a little stupid, but at least it brought Gohan and Videl closer to each other. She wanted to help her boyfriend kick ass. Is that so wrong?

I agree with most of your points. I thought the Majin Buu saga was ok, not nearly as good as the rest of the series though.

 

But what they did with the characters i agree with you on that. I can't believe how much they ruined Gohan, but i live with it.

 

If only they hadn't pushed Toriyama to keep going. And if the fanboys hadn't get pressing for Goku's revival, thats why most of this saga focuses on him and him alone.

 

But hey, if they had ended it at the cell games, we wouldn't be getting DBZ Battle of Gods now would we. I try to look on the positive side of things, and i accept the saga. It was still ok, in certain parts.

 

But yes, GT is horrible, and since its not canon at all, i don't count it in the slightest.

I seriously doubt we can say the Majin Buu saga was all about Goku and Vegeta when many episodes focus on Hercule's character development and the fact HE'S THE ONE MORESO THAN ANYONE ELSE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FREAKIN' ERADICATION OF THE STRONGEST VILLAIN THE UNIVERSE HAD EVER SEEN (as of that time). Seriously if it wasn't for him the whole universe would have been doomed.

 

On top of that Goten and Trunks got many episodes to shine too. Gohan got some long awaited bonding time with Daddy and Mystic Form

 

And to say the Buu saga draaaags as if other sagas don't is just being unfair.

About The Goku and Vegeta point...I get that Goku is the main character.

I agree for the most part, but the whole Goku Vegeta thing went on for a long time.

I thought the Buu saga was great. I liked the story of it and it felt a lot more character driven which I love.

 

I actually like it better at some points than the previous sagas.

No seriously, I get that SOME characters got SOME time to shine... but really? What did they do really? Chiaotzu blew himself up, then remained irrelevant from then on. Tien killed himself by blasting Nappa (which was pointless) then ALMOST killed himself by blasting Cell.... that's it. Other than that, Krillin and the Dang-a-lang Man, Piccolo, are the only ones REALLY pulling weight: fighting Frieza, the Ginyus, the Androids, and all that.

Am I the only one who liked the Saiyaman thing?

Majin Buu was such an odd story arc where the tone shifted in such extreme ways throughout.  It managed to be both a gag manga (see the the Gohan high school stuff, most of the tournament, the characterizations of Buu, Gotenks, and Piccolo throughout, the multiple Gotenks-Buu fights that were gags, Vegeta and Goku arguing like an old married couple) and a very dark one (Everything for Gohan after the tournament, Vegeta's descent, Dabura, Kid Buu, the mass genocide by Majin Vegeta and Buu, every character was dead at one point in this arc)

I think that the Buu saga was second best, behind the cell saga. I don't know why because they took away Gohan's awesomeness, but it was the one that was still ongoing when I first got into DBZ. I watched the other sagas and played the games for the, but I was always excited for the new episode of this saga. I owned most of this saga and I really enjoyed it. I still like it a lot and could probably watch the saga start to finish without getting bored. I did think that it got kinda slow around the time when Kid Buu came around though and the final battle took way too long in my opinion. I also didn't get into any of GT because I just didn't find it interesting.

The only time someone defeated the major villain of any saga other then Goku was when Gohan killed Cell, and that was only because Goku helped him realize his true potential. If it wasn't for that training in the hyperbolic time chamber, Gohan would've been as useless as everyone else by the time the Cell games came around. But that got old in GT, since by then it really was just Goku doing everything, and Vegeta helping a bit, and everyone else doing jack shit.

 

But in the Buu saga, everyone at least tried, and almost succeeded multiple times had it not been for Buu's cheap absorbtion trick. Seriously. Gotenks and Mystic Gohan alone could've defeated Buu if it wasn't for that. They weren't useless like they are in GT, so its different.

 

I admit though, the great Saiyaman thing was pretty stupid. Gohan could've come up with something way better, but you have to understand the real reason he did that was to protect his identity, so other people wouldn't know the truth and he could TRY to have a normal life. Who wouldn't want a normal life after all the shit Gohan was put through? Seriously. -_-

I disagree with you on alot of points and it is deffinately NOT one of the worst sagas in anime, but I have to agree about Gohan, by the end of the Cell saga he was like my fav character, he was just so damn awesome. And then they ruined him

Majin Buu's Saga's actually my favourite saga. It had some really good fights, and Gohan redeemed himself with the Mystic Form.

 

But what I really like about Majin Buu's Saga is our dub of that saga. Compared to Frieza's and Cell's Saga, the Majin Buu saga's portuguese dub is way better.

DBZ hasn't always been just about Goku and Vegeta I mean just about the whole secondary plot of it was about Gohan's hidden potential after all he was the deuteragonist of the series. While Vegeta only filled that role near the end of the Buu Saga since it was the just about the only saga where we see the most character development from him. I mean Piccolo had an even bigger role than him (what with training Gohan, eventually becoming a good guy, learning more about his heritage on Namek, and coming to terms with Kami) until the Buu Saga came around. Not to mention Future Trunks was quite huge role within the Cell Saga.

I'm not into DBZ, but I watched it for a while as a kid.  I will say that I fell out of watching DBZ when this saga started.  Like you said, I didn't like what they did to Gohan's character and found it to be boring.  I know that later the characters are redeemed, but how are you going to get to that point if the viewer count drops with each dragged out episode?  I think for the most part, though, Dragon Ball started with potential but was dragged on way too long.  This is why I have a "no anime over 100 episodes" rule today.

Make Dragon Ball Kai an exception. I'm serious, DO IT. You will not be disappointed.

Dragon Ball Z Kai i admit, is definitely better then the original. Its way shorter. You should make it an exception and watch it.

Lucky Star (Fun fact, did you know most of the fanbase exists out of males? Hell, it's aimed towards males), Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon, Inuyasha, Hunter X Hunter, Higurashi, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Rurouni Kenshin, Bobobo, Death Note, Beyblade, Saint Seiya, Sailor Moon, Gintama, Fist of the North Star and there are probably much more anime than that.

Oh no.  There are some mainstream animes I've liked like Death Note and no one can hate FMA.  I enjoyed watching Sword Art online though the novels are way better.  I read D.Gray-Man though I admit I didn't like until recently unlike my friend who forced me into it who says it's becoming convoluted (Which she says about KH and Pandora Hearts. See the pattern?).  

 

I'm just hesitant when it comes to animes based around fighting.  They'll have some unnecessarily complicated lore and the shouting out attacks makes me roll my eyes.  I do try to overlook them (hence D.Gray-Man) but it takes a really deep and interesting plot, usually on the dark side, and characters I care about to get me to do this.  I tried the three I named.  I couldn't get into Naruto since his character rubs me wrong in every direction.  Bleach's lion thing scares me and One Piece is okay but something I can live without.  However, there is something underlying these that makes them similar that I don't like.  I can't really name it.  Maybe it's always knowing the main character will be fine in the end or that the author can't sell the lore to me.  Or maybe it's simply being out of the age demographic, but that carries little salt since I'm a KH fan
