Okay so I know this sounds insane but, I was playing bbs and I came to the scene where Terra meets young Riku and then he sees young Riku turn into young Xehanort and then young Xehanort turns into older Riku, and it got me thinking could Riku be Xehanort? I mean in kingdom hearts 3D Sora and Riku traveled back in time and YX was also able to time travel, so maybe Riku travels back in time and loses his memories and ends up becoming Xehanort. So it's possible they can be the same person. And they are a lot alike. Plus there are some more hints that this could be the case. In 3D Riku bumps into a different version of himself wearing a black coat. I mean of course it could be the Repliku or Data Riku but, it could be a past version of Riku that YX went back in time to get cause Riku is really Xehanort. And another small hint in 3D is when YX takes on the appearance of Riku in Sora's eyes for a moment. Of course this is all just in theory. All these hints could just be to show Riku's connection to Xehanort and Terra. But still it's an interesting thought.

... man I should really watch a play-through of 3D, I'm missing out on a lot of info.

I think Riku is a part of the 13 shards of Darkness...the one at the end of KH1 when he's possessed, maybe he's considered as an incarnation of Xehanort and he has been recruited by YMX.

The visions Terra had were to foreshadow the future connection between Riku and Terra :

As we also know, Riku kinda follows a similiar path to YMX so thats why we see him in comparison to YMX in that scene- not bc he actually is him. They both wanted to leave the island and see other worlds and ended up falling to darkness bc of it .

Uh... Since Riku has VERY light skin, and Young Xehanort has really dark skin, I doubt.

I get that and I'm still pointing out he's not xehanort either since you're the one who thinks those visions were possibly saying that.

 

Also just to point out the obvious, if he was Xehanort he wouldn't have needed to be 'norted ' in DDD if he already was one. He was the org's original target and once they realized he couldn't be used they 'moved down the list'.

Dude, I don't know. This whole time travel thing in KH is a giant mindfiretruck.

This is giving me a headache.

With how Riku's story has unfolded thus far, I find it highly unlikely that him losing his memory and goes evil really fits. In every game after KH1 has had him trying to atone for what he did when he fell to darkness. Having him just forget and do it again seems like a big waste.

Not really . He straight up says whats going on . You can try and say that you want it to be that but the scene straight up tells you .Considering that it's also basically showing Riku overcoming past mistakes and moving on so that's another reason why he cannot be used by the org just backs its up. The whole theme of DDD is showing this. It's about Riku and his story/progresssion as Nomura says himself.
