Well why would he want to help the lights? He really didn't quite listen to MX either . He kind've had his own agenda based on what suited him and he failed at that as well.

I feel like Terra would be the one who helps them from the darkness, if he isn't saved before the war. Vanitas seems too robotic to rebel against Xehanort. The only time he really disobeyed any orders was when he tried to barbeque Ventus.

Vanitas is pure darkness.  There is no logical reason as to why he would help the lights.

He failed miserably as a villain so maybe he'll be better as an anti-hero.

There's 7 lights, 13 darknesses, and 1 badass(Vanitas).

That'd never happen. Sooty but Vanitas is pure darkness. He'd never help light.

But I think this is the same case with Isa. He is being controlled, he doesn't want to serve Xehanort. All Xehanort "clones" have gold eyes and spiky ears, I don't know which type of ears Vanitas has, but he has gold eyes, that's a fact.

 

Also, if BbS novels are canon, he wasn't evil before, it was Xehanort's fault. I don't think he will be a hero like Sora and the others, but I also don't think he will be a bad guy forever.

I agree. I could even see Vanitas trying to betray Xehanort to get the X-blade for himself. Either that, or disobeying commands to go out of his way to hurt Ventus. Either way I see Vantutas playing a substantial role in KHIII.
