Well I love Kingdom Hearts as it is. But cmon, dont you think it would be even more popular? Last I checked girls doing epic fights were pretty popular, like Dead Fantasy. And Riku would have so many fanboys over the whole sacraficing themself and darkness thing. Sora would be even cuter, but he would also be more like a classic Mary Sue being the whole my heart is special and I want to be friends with everyone thing.  But it could work, Sora and Riku have been known to be girls names, and Kairi has been a boys name. I wonder if I would like Namine as much...A shy lonely altruistic boy who is also an artist? AW YES.

Overall it would be the same, but do you think there would be so many girl fans because a lot of them like obssessing over the boys. Like Dawn with Riku for example lol.

Because it'll be the only version of KH we would have known we wouldn't know any difference so overall it would be the same.  It's like saying "imagine if bacon was actually called "toilet" and toilets were called "bacon" all along".  Because it's what you always knew it makes no difference.

The only way to play as a female is with Aqua. And probably also Kairi in KH3.
