Coming back from school today , while I was walking , I saw a girl , around 13 or 14, holding something . It looked like a cigarette . I first thought : "Nah ......it's probably something else ..." . But ,after that, I smelled something , similar to the cigarette's smell . And IT WAS  a cigarette . I was like : " Seriously .... ?!"  . I mean , do you guys find this normal ? It might just be me , but I don't really think smoking from the age of 13 is normal .

I mean , it would make sense to me if she was like 25 or something .....

((Yeah, pretty sure that isn't normal. And it's especially bad to smoke at a young age. This actually reminds me of the time back in school when all the kids were smoking Smarties by crushing them, opening one end of the wrapper a bit, inhaling, and exhaling. So many kids were doing it, that the school seriously banned Smarties. Kids these days, am I right?))

Smoking is bad for your lungs. For all ages. The law is you must be at least 18. If this young girl continues down her path, she will pay later. My sister smoked at age 13, and got lung cancer at 17. So, I only wish the girl chooses to leave that awful product behind.

Well, I wish her the best of luck. I've lost an aunt, grandma, grandpa, and sister due to smoking. 

I see 7th-9th graders (14-16 year old) smoking every day on my way to college and it's just so weird why they smoke to be "cool".

Fool. The world is over populated. Let them smoke.

It's not common to see a girl that age to be smoking but it's up to her if she wants to smoke or not. Just be careful not to inhale the smoke.

I've never met her . I don't know her . She was just a random girl , I saw , while walking .

When I was 13-14 all of my friends smoked. I never smoked and I never will. But to start that young astounds me. 

I'm reasonably certain it happens more often than you think.

Omg I remember that.. Maybe that's how I got started with other things (jk). My friend and I used to think we were so cool lolol, I actually saw some kid in my Spanish class 2 months ago doing that

 

 

Anyway, that sounds somewhat normal to me. I was shocked to find out people my age were smoking when I was 13 but now it is just so common to see/hear about. 

Its as normal as seeing a 13 year old pregnant

Yes, I do smoke, and I started smoking when I was 15. And I know it's bad, it has consequences and all of that yata yata.

 

But kids smoking at the age of 11-13? I honestly don't get them

 

Just to make sure, to avoid any unnecessary conflits. Yeah, I might be an hypocrit for saying this since I started to smoke when I was 15, but I was kinda mature back then, and I was well aware of the consequences. These kids smoke because it's "cool", and most of the times they're not aware of the consequences.

 

I smoke because I like it, and because I'm already addicted to it. If you really want to smoke, I don't blame you. But be well aware of the consequences that it has for your health, and don't just smoke because it's "cool".

In America, yeah, it's fairly abnormal, but honestly I think people can do whatever they want. Kids are taught from elementary school that cigarettes are dangerous, and through middle and high school they're subjected to gross videos of smokers/former smokers. So there's no doubt this girl probably has seen some icky films about cigarettes and has been well-informed of the risks. I think it's stupid of her to do it regardless, but honestly you're not going to stop someone. If they're aware of the risks and do something anyway, that's their issue.

I agree with ya on the part that she is free to do anything she wants . It just seemed weird to me .

I see a bunch of kids smoking everyday after school. Sometimes they're barely off school grounds before they light up. This is a high school, so they're all ages 14-18. I'd say there's about a dozen or so of these kids, and I'd be willing to bet there's a few more who smoke, just not right there in public. It's actually quite disheartening...

Does it matter if it was normal? Would it being normal stop it from being a 13 year old choosing to damage their inners for pleasure? Though it is actually worse to stand near a smoker than it is to be the smoker. Anyways since you aren't forced to be by her, it is just her choosing to do a self-destructive act. Maybe it helps her get through her days. That would mean she is both lengthening and shortening her life at the same time, and who knows it might be doing more of the former than the latter.
