Okay so I was watching the E3 footage of BBS and after seeing Kairi's grandmother again, a thought dawned on me... How in the world does she know about the keyblade war and the world before the walls between worlds were formed? Is she actually a keyblade master or are we just to assume that she is old enough to have been there when it all happened?

Her grandmother probably told her that story to her, just like she did with Kairi. The only difference is that Kairi didn't give a sh*t about it.

She must be very wise if she knew about the keyblade war.

I'm probably sure that she only knows about the Tale of how the world was split into countless worlds and how darkness borns in every person's hearts inlcuding the Lights that was born in a hearts of Children. Also, based on my theories,it could be that Kairi's Grandmother's ancestors, who have seen those events or they were the Keyblade Master themselves, told that tale and passed it on to the new generations...

Thats actually a really good question.

Same way many people have heard about the keyblade in general. They've been told the storys.

Its probably a legend

But she knew that... Didn't she ?

What you did there, I saw it

It was just a story, Kiri's grandmother probably thought it was a myth as well and was more of a bedtime story.

Her Grandmother was either there at the time, or heard of it as a legend. I think she just heard the legend as keep in mind Xehanort is also old, but he wasn't around when the keyblade war happened. I think everyone died too.

I disagree.

Kairi loved the story so much she asked to be told it several times. She just forgot about it later, after Radiant Garden fell and she was chilling with Sora and Riku for her entire childhood after that. You probably don't remember shit from when you were four either, she would need to be reminded somehow.

Edit: Actually, I recall Kairi caring about the story in the first kingdom hearts. Kairi and Sora have a short conversation about it.

Kairi: A light, at the end of the tunnel....

Sora: Oh, your grandma's story, right?

Kairi: That's right

OWNED AGAIN

Unless Kairi's grandmother is immortal or at least 1000 years old, there is no that she could have been there.

It's the same way everyone knows it. Aerith knows it too at the start of KH1.

omg.

Kairi's Grandma is one of the Seven Guardians, alongside Sora's Mom.

I'm calling it. Immortal Keyblade Masters hiding in secret. Totally going to happen.

Just like in the real world stories get passed down, facts get warped, things are added and taken away. History becomes legend and legend becomes myth.

Considering how old she looks, she was probably born before the Keyblade War even happened. She probably experienced the entire thing for herself too.

She could be 70 or something. The keyblade war is stated to have happened in ancient times

You don't know how old she is. It's possible anyway, stranger things have happened.

I honestly don't know. But I do know that every time I listen to it, I get that feeling when an old person you know is sharing there experiences with you. It's odd, really.

You all are forgetting one crucial point to all of this. It wasn't the hearts of random children that rebuilt the lost world and became the new Kingdom Hearts: it was the Princesses of Heart. And we all know that Kairi is one of them, of course.

That whole thing adds a crucial weight to just what Kairi's grandmother is telling her. Perhaps she sensed or knew that Kairi was one of the Seven Pure Lights, and kept telling her the story so as to prepare her for her destiny?

And if Kairi's grandmother did somehow know that it was her granddaughter, the questions is how. Not even Xehanort and Maleficent realized that the last remaining Princess that they had yet to find was her that fast.

Calling it now: Kairi's grandmother is Xehanort and Eraqus' Master. Kidding. Mostly...

But seriously. I really do think that Kairi's grandmother knew that Kairi was one of the ones who had rebuilt the lost world, and if so that's a MAJOR plot point that may or may not be touched upon in the future (perhaps in the new Re:Coded scenario that's adding back stories or whatever).

Kairi's whole back story really has been underplayed very much so far, which is odd since it's rather important to a lot of what's happened. Personally, I think it's been saved last for a bigger purpose, and that we might finally be learning about it all soon.
