Everything wrong with Nomura,Square Enix and Final Fantasy XIII in one video

Posted

It's amazing how he got all of this just from the Batman figure ^_^

Which now that I look at it doesn't really fit Batman at all

Also WARNING:TOO MANY ZIPPERS ^_^

Anyone remember when people played and enjoyed videogames instead of getting all pissy about them?

No, when was that? The 70s?

Really I couldn't even watch the video after he said that Nomura's Batman didn't look anything like Batman, which is interesting since he has a huge red bat plastered on his face. That's kind of a thing Batman would do and has done before.

and firetruck the critics, zippers are cool dammit

Jeez guys I

People like this just generally piss me offFor starters, who the fvck complains about better graphics. Square Enix makes things visually pleasing. I fail to see the issue with thatHe claims that the costume is "too much". Look at that Batman costume, and tell me, complete honestly, that that's not badassThen he goes on to complain about the gameplay changing. I guess I can see where he's coming from here. How about we just stick with the same gameplay over and over, all the while, not improving the graphics, because we already know how horrible that would be. Sarcasm btwNow, none of this bothered me TOO much, because he's entitled to his own opinion, but then, at the end of the video, he just starts acting like a tremendous douche bag. Here's a little tip: You can't just bash on a franchise and not expect people to disagree with you. There's no reason at all for him to act like an immature little kid. (and you know its bad when a 14 year old boy is calling a grown man immature)But I digress, because no matter what a company does, there's always people like this that will find something to complain about.Okay, rant overAnyone remember when people played and enjoyed videogames instead of getting all pissy about them?

Jeez man chill he didn't mean to complain about graphics he meant how Square were too busy with the graphics they didn't focus too much on the gameplay............hence FFXIII

Also if he's immature as you've said why the sudden temper tantrum about a difference of opinion. He's just stating his opinion he never said his speech was a fact

So much emotion in here.

Honestly people, don't be pissy fanboys.  I like Kingdom Hearts just fine, but Nomura is hardly the apex of the company and is arguably partially responsible for its current decline.

it wasn't the difference of opinion that pissed me off, it was him being a huge douche about it

I don't see how he was being a douche when he didn't say something like "firetruck you guys my opinion is superior"

Just because he has an opposing opinion doesn't make him a douche

And honest to god, deny it or not,Nomura's designs lately has gotten really ridiculous ever since Advent Children....no seriously just take a look at the outfits in Lightning Returns FFXIII some of them I can't even believe is wearable

And as much as I love the Kingdom Hearts series we could use more simplicity in the writing and less convolution and pretentiousness

And the fact it took Square and Nomura eight freakin years for one game and he got kicked out of the project should say something

When we play games we have the right to criticize their stories and Gameplay when they're not good

And even then it's not only Square's problem when it comes to graphics over gameplay,it's a problem with the industry in general.

Games like Assassins' Creed Unity and Watchdogs are a huge example of this.Sure they looked pretty but one is a glitch broken mess (AC Unity) and the other is a boring disappointment that was overhyped to death just so Ubifsoft can make sure they get their quick 7+ million units before the year ends

Don't get me wrong I don't encourage bad graphics heck that's one of my gripes against Sonic Boom but you gotta strike a balance between pretty visuals, good writing and fun gameplay.Don't just produce an eye candy with no substance

The air is heavy in here.

I was talking about the end of the video, where he's very clearly being a douche. Once again, I'm not saying square Enix is perfect, I'm saying, its immature to complain about it and it accomplishes nothing but anger people

So much emotion in here.

Whoaho there chum. "Current decline"? What current decline?

And the fact it took Square and Nomura eight freakin years for one game and he got kicked out of the project should say something

Final Fantasy XV, right? Where's the source that says he was actually kicked out, that he was a liability being removed? I'd like to see this source because last I checked, he just left of his own accord to focus on KH3, having done enough work to leave it in Tabata's hands for the final stretch. Or was that an assumption?

The end of the video was a sarcastic joke and the whole "thank god for me" is just a running gag that he ends every video with it.

And no it's not immature to complain about something THATS' ACTUALLY WRONG!!

Heck if we didn't state what we likehate about a game companies won't listen and will continue to give us the same crap

Heck I have the same complains as his before he even made the video, does that make me immature too?

Nope he didn't say he left on his own accord literally he said it was Square's decision to replace him with Tabata and nothing else.

As for the decline?Well reported financial losses from time to time, games failing like Lighting Returns and staff leaving left and right  should say something

I won't talk out of my ass about this heck SORA96 HIMSELF REPORTED THIS NEWS HERE!

Decline of Square Enix? Oh. I thought he meant decline of Kingdom Hearts.

Anyway, I'm well-aware of the news. I read it myself. Right enough it was Square's decision. But were Square's reasons given? No. You're assuming that they were getting rid of him when it's just as possible that they were passing him on. Don't jump to conclusions. Unless you do have a source that says Nomura wasn't a positive asset. Otherwise you're just projecting your opinion without any facts.

Dude you gotta read between the lines obviously they won't state something like replacing someone with someone else or firing a huge important employee.|They'll just say he left or we put him on another project.

I never said that Nomura wasn't a positive asset you're just putting words in my mouth all I'm saying is that Nomura failed to deliver the project on time when he was the director hence why Tabata took his place.

HE WAS THE DIRECTOR!You don't replace the director easily unless something wrong happened

at what point did I say Square Enix was perfect or that Tetsuya Nomura doesn't make mistakes? Cause I'm pretty sure I said the exact opposite. You're missing the point. What I'm saying is he's got no respect for the company. If he actually wants to make a change, he should use positive criticism. What he's doing is disrespectful and immature

Also the dude loved many Square Enix games like Bravely default

Also the whole thing of "Also nobody has the right to judge their work"?THEN WHY ARE PEOPLE REVIEWING GAMES THEN!!!!SHOULD WE JUST LABEL EVERY SQUARE ENIX GAME WITH 1010 AND PROVIDE NO FEEDBACK!!!!!

I won't reply after this cuz I know

Criticism include both positive and negative feedback......ever read a review before?

Whoaho there chum. "Current decline"? What current decline?

Well, sure, I can give you a few examples of decline.  And by decline, I refer to both decline of quality and integrity.

1-Nomura produced one of the most batshit insultingly projects to hit the gaming industry, period.

2-He served as creative consultant in addition to artist and producer on The 3rd Birthday, with his input in particular retconning the firetruck out of the entire series.  It's not too out of the left field to say that he killed any chances of Parasite Eve coming back again.

3-He spearheaded the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII, which not only milked one of the better entries into sheer tedium, but was also generally not a great success.

4-After seven years, he got booted off Final Fantasy Versus XIII/XV and needed Tabata to basically save the project in record time.  To put it more gingerly, he was fired off of the project after wasting seven years of money and resources and getting absolutely nowhere with it.

Now, that's just the areas of decline that Nomura himself was directly involved with or personally responsible for.  Would you like me to get into the stuff where he didn't play a large role?  Just so you know, it'll be a big list.

Like I said, I like Kingdom Hearts just fine.  I like it fully knowing and acknowledging that Nomura is a one-trick pony.  Kingdom Hearts is his baby, his thing.  Which means that if he gets involved in anything else in a capacity more than just character designer, set your expectations way, waaaaaaaay low.  It'll either be a slap in the face, a disaster, or you'll sit around seven years waiting only to find he did nothing with it.

And here's everything wrong with everything above and the video.

Tomb Raider failed because Square Enix put a ton of money in marketing. Hence why they're doing the Xbox timed exclusive now since Microsoft is paying for the marketing now. Tomb Raider and Sleeping Dogs both were successes after their Definitive Editions.

Final Fantasy XIII was plagued with development issues.

Nomura only designed Lightning's Savour costume in Lightning Returns.

Square Enix is making profits now even when they don't release any games. Just view their last couple financial reports.

People are leaving the company because they're being sacked.

Square Enix has admitted to their mistakes.

Nomura being removed from the XV project was a company decision.

There's probably more to clear up but oh well.

THANK YOU!!That pretty much sums it all up

Square Enix has admitted to their mistakes.

But...they're not really doing anything about it though.  They're like the kid who writes on the chalkboard that he won't be bad anymore a hundred times, then just repeats the routine the next day.  It's like....they admitted that lately they've had too big of a focus on mobile titles.  What did they just announce two days ago?  A whole lot of mobile titles.

THANK YOU!!That pretty much sums it all up

I don't believe any of us were disputing that.

Oh when I said it you were saying I have desired fantasies but when he said literally the same thing he's right?
