Castle Oblivion as the New Olympus Coliseum/Mirage Arena?

Featured Replies

Oh wow. That is an amazing idea.

I only want to return to Castle oblivion if they explain the goddamn cards.

So you're basically proposing the Cavern of Remembrance, but for every fight in the series? If so, that's kind of an absurd amount of boss fights to put in one game. Not that it's not cool, but it's probably unfeasible to work every major fight into one game like that. I'd rather have cool new content than rehashing old content anyway (we've already got two games that do that in the series, and it's getting old).

not every boss fight, no. what gave you that idea? I'm talking about a greatest hits collection

I agree. But they could switch it up a little. Different characters fighting them/teams, they could put in xemnas's unused forms... :P

Even with just the "greatest hits" (and how one would decide which boss fights are greatest, i have no idea), that would require a ton of work just to include old boss fights- it's not like they can just port old boss fights, they'd have to basically program battles from scratch and rework them to be compatible with new game mechanics that are almost certain to appear in KH3. Even if it's just, say, the final boss fights from previous games, it's a sizable amount of effort required, and I'd rather them use that effort to make cool new content for a cool new game. (Besides, isn't the point of the HD Remixes to get people caught up on the series anyway?)

They did it in lots of previous KH games. Every KH with tournaments. I don't see why KH3, most likely the highest budget in the series, could do less. If anything it's a little bit easier than designing, say, a Yuffie boss fight, since they already know how, say, Vantias fights, and don't need to conceptualize it.

But yeah, having a whole bunch of extra fights is definitely not out of the realm of possibility in KH. Think of all the new boss fights added just for the Final Mixes

HD remixes are both on PS3

KH3 is on the BX1 and PS4

Well, Yuffie was already in KH1, it didn't take much to put her in KH2, and both games were on the PS2. Now that we're two console generations past that, it would take some serious redesigning to get old fights on the new hardware, especially the huge ones like World of Chaos and all of the Xemnas fight. Again, it just doesn't seem worth it to me to redo old boss fights when they could be designing awesome new ones- like in DDD, when they had us fight Ansem and Xemnas again. Even redesigned like they were, it felt annoying to me to fight the same guys I'd already beaten before, while the new fights against Anti Black Coat, Young Xehanort and Armored Ventus Nightmare all felt a lot more fresh and fun. That's just my opinion on the matter.

Also, don't tell me that the HD Remixes are a generation behind, tell Square Enix, it was their decision.

Yuffie was optional in KH1 and KH@, and they both function very differently. KH is full of optional stuff like that

and porting an old fight to next gen is still easier than designing an entirely new boss fight.

And t's not really an in-spite-of type deal here. There will be bonus boss fights in KH3. There are always bonus boss fights in KH. If you want the Iron Imprisoner, that's fine, but I'd take Xemnas, personally.

Rematsers had to be on previous gen, Square doesn't ahev download rights for the games, and PS4 and XB1 mandates downloads.

And yeha, it was their decision, you know what else is? To have something in KH3 to catch people up with the series. As stated in an interview.

That...might actually be cool! That's a really good idea! I don't know if it would happen or not, but I sure hope to god that it does happen!  :D  <3

It'd be nice if you could provide a link to said interview to back up your claim, because I've never heard any mention of that.

Sorry you seem so offended that I would prefer new boss battles over redone old boss battles, they just seem more interesting to me. It's also a good way for Nomura to reference more Disney stuff out there, like Julius in DDD; that shit was baller. Imagine optional fights against the Leviathan from Atlantis, or the Mad Doctor like in the Epic Mickey games, or hell, even a Marvel or Star Wars villain- that, to me, would be a lot cooler than beating Xemnas for what, the fourth, fifth time?

As long as I can kick the crap out of Vexen, Larxene, and Demyx some more, I'm game.

Well, if it's a "greatest hits" collection, I think I'd be more inclined to put in bosses that we don't actually see in KH3. We are likely to fight Ansem, Xennas, Xehanort, Young Xehanort, Xigbar, Saix, and maybe even Vanitas. That leaves us with lots of other characters without repetition.

Actually as much as I like your idea, it just doesn't fit as when it comes to the reason, because Namine is not there anymore to turn the memories into cards for old battles. Furthermore, whatever was the excuse for your idea if it actually happened, it won't make things but more complicated.

I would really like to have Castle Oblivion/Land of Departure back with more places and explanations, but I still think that the idea of having old bosses might fit more in a more evolutionary Mirage Arena "similar to Coliseum from Final Fantasy XIII-2". Mirage Arena didn't get enough chances to be introduced clearly and I think that adding more places and ideas to it would be better especially since it's a non canon world to the story and any idea to it might fit.

Overall your idea is actually interesting.

Thats such a good idea. And everytime you finish a world a new Room/memorie unlocks!

Very good idea this might give us the chance to battle with the graphics of the 3D opening.

I'd promote you for this Idea if I were Nomura and you were a SQ employee.
