Every time the seven lights are mentioned these two are included but, riku's main power is darkness, sure he uses it to serve the light but it's still darkness.

Axel has the same problem too because his darkness is still strong enough to create corridors of darkness. wouldn't that disqualify him from the lights even if he is on their side?

We don't exactly yet know the major qualifications of being a guardian of light other than residing in the realm of light, not be a Nort, and being able to wield the keyblade so I can't say

I actually think Lea will turn out to be the 13th Darkness. Not of his own choice of course. But when he appeared to save Sora, and Xehanort smiled despite his plans being ruined, I think he, at that moment, made Lea his back-up plan as his 13th Darkness

i think is not the way to think that...... true riku use darkness, but he can control it and don't use it for evil plans, and so maybe it will lea

so i think is "if you good your light" sort of

don't sure, i think xehanort smiled cause he know the right vessell to use against him aka isa (which is what he do after smiling) not cause he want lea to be his vessell.... plus he need the 7 lights for his plan to recreate the keyblade war

True true. But if they do somehow also save Terra there will be an extra light. But who knows. That's why it's so exciting speculating ^_^

The answer is yes, this shouldn't work in theory, but since people seem to like to have their cake and eat it too with Riku, I imagine it's going to slide.

I think you can have darkness to protect the light. The princesses are the ones who cant be havin any darkness.

It is undoubtedly possible for Riku and Lea to be lights. 

I find it impossible for Sora to be a light  though. He's an ordinary boy, so being a light removes the thing Nomura stresses the most about Sora. Why continuously note that he's an ordinary boy when you're gonna make him not so ordinary in the end?

Actually, Riku is a prime example of someone who SHOULD be a light. He's a master and he can control Light and Darkness in equal quantities.

Riku rid of his dark tendencies and powers in KH2. He redeemed himself with the Mark of Mastery exam to prove he isn't how he used to be. Lea, however, doesn't totally have a spot as one of the 7 lights from what I understand, considering Kairi is now in the picture.

Well Nomura said that the Lights will be unexpected, so at this point literally ANYONE is game. Heck, what if one of the the 13 Darkness betrays Master X, and ends up being a Light? Sure, they seem devoted to him, but a couple look like their only a taco and icecream cone away from switching sides. I swear Xigbar's got his own plans. And who's to say one of the assumed "Lights" is really a Light at all? For some strange reason, I can't help thinking Sora isn't one of them.

You would be right to do so. I'm 99.9% positive Sora isn't a light. As I've said earlier, Nomura has duly noted that Sora is, for the most part, an ordinary boy. Giving him a huge role as a Light, or Keyblade Master, really pushes that trait away.

If Sora isn't a light, then he must have some other thing he can do to help the lights right? I'm not sure what it is, but we will know when kingdom hearts 3 comes out.

Well, Riku could always be a black light./shot.

Lea I don't think is likely, but then again, why else would he be given a Keyblade all of a sudden?

 

Riku is a sure fire pick. I mean, he just became a Master, and he's proven how worthy he is countless times in the past, I don't see why not.

Well Riku is a master and wields a keyblade so I'm assuming that he has enough light to be one. I think he uses darkness and light equally or at least trying to.

Honestly, Riku's entire struggle has been about growing the firetruck up and realizing nothing is inherently good or bad. Darkness is darkness and light is light, they're just forces, there isn't such a thing as morality outside of human intentions.

 

So, Riku has grown up and realized that using a force doesn't make you anything, it's how you use it. "Guardians of light" means they seek to protect the light that is Kingdom hearts- not that they are light.

 

That is also why Lea can be a guardian of light. Because he is going to guard the light.

But no, the point of DDD was for Riku to assure himself that he's still worthy of the Keyblade, despite still using Darkness, not the get rid of it entirely.

No it's not, fire and light are separate. Fire emits light but light is not inherently hot. It can be cold and bright at the same time after all.

If anything, Sora might just be responsible for bringing the lights together, and maybe he really isn't apart of the group.

 

He plays an extremely important role with the lights, regardless, but it's all very interesting. I'm excited to see how it'll turn out.
