January 16, 201510 yr https://twitter.com/Square_Portal/status/556106433646067712 Man, I think I will cry here now...
January 16, 201510 yr Perhaps he recorded for KH3 already if what Bill Farmer said was true... But I doubt it. Rest in peace
January 16, 201510 yr This got me thinking...due to how japanese videogames treat voice actors, i doubt they will replace him, so maybe now MX wont appear at all in Kh3. Xehanort will get represented by another one of his being, like maybe a younger one, or Terranort. I heard some time ago that Nimoy didn't want to reprise the character more, and he recorded the few lines of 3D as a favor, so maybe now that they have lost both the English and the Japanese actor, they will think about removing the character in Kh3 altogether, substituting him for another form fo Xehanort

KH3 is supposed to be the last in the Xehanort Saga after all. But man, not only was he the Japanese voice for Xehanort. He was also the Japanese voice for Dr. Eggman. R.I.P Eggface, you were a worthy foe for me and Sonic. Edited January 16, 201510 yr by Tails
January 16, 201510 yr Or they'll just replace his original JPN VA with a new one. KH3 is supposed to be the last in the Xehanort Saga after all. They thing is that in japanese videogames, and specially Square Enix, they have a lot of appreciation for the VA. They haven't changed many characters who had developed a well established VA. There is no point on using him now that they don't have either the japanese or english VA. Also remember, that he was the father of the VA who has been playing Ansem SoD/Terranort, so a lot of his purpouse has been lost, at least in my opinion

January 16, 201510 yr Dude, a guy passed away, forget about the game. Rest in peace. I'm not disrespecting him, I admired and loved his work as MX a lot, but don't act like if you knew him as a friend or anything. He was the VA of a beloved character, nothing more. In any case, we should remember the good work he has done over this past 6 years, and think at how the future of the saga will unfold without him
January 16, 201510 yr Aw..... Rest in peace, Mr. Otsuka! We may not have hearts, but you certainly did.
January 16, 201510 yr I don't really keep up with voice actors who aren't English, but this is sad, may he rest in peace
January 16, 201510 yr Oh man I just saw that on MGinformer. His son voices Solid Snake and Big Boss in the Metal Gear series. He joined him once in MGS4 to voice BB while his son was voicing SS. This must suck really bad for him right now. Edited January 16, 201510 yr by Sorarocks93
January 16, 201510 yr What? No! I once played Birth By Sleep in japanese and I loved his voice. So dark, mysterious and fitting. I even prefered his voice over the english one. Damn, this is so sad... Will this affect Kingdom Hearts? I kind of found his voice... unique. We've lost some actors so far, yeah... That's so sad. I'll always miss the voice of Mickey(2002 - 2009). That being said, this is very sad news... : / Rest in peace.

He played old Big Boss while Akio Otsuka played Solid Snake, which makes sense given that Snake is Big Boss' cloned 'son'. Edited January 16, 201510 yr by Kaweebo
January 16, 201510 yr I heard about this earlier today and it's pretty sad to hear about this. Also to everyone who is concerned about what affects this will have on Kingdom Hearts 3 and possibly future Kingdom Hearts games, they are not going to just write out Master Xehanort. Because that would be smart, write out the guy who has been the main problem through the whole series and as a matter of fact this first saga is called the Xehanort Saga, they will not write out Xehanort because his voice actor died, yes I know Japan is big on the VAs for characters, like what they did with Igor in the Persona 3 movies they took the lines from the game since his voice actor died but I highly doubt that they are going to replace him in Persona 5. As they say the show must go on, and to be honest that's not the big issue here, the big issue is that someone has passed away and it is sad, true probably not many of us know much about what he did before now and before he voiced Master Xehanort but it's still sad, he was a great Japaneses VA and he will be missed.
