I thought so too! But people keep saying it's not. :( Ah, well...if he ever pops up again, and it turns out to be true, I won't be shocked in the slightest. xD

I will say this, though. I think he's a Nort. Call me crazy, I don't care. In fact, I think the Keyblade he was using was actually Xehanorts. Compare Young Xehanorts to that of Vanitas. You'll notice they look eerily similar. Coincidence? I think not.

In Birth by Sleep, they state that when Vanitas was just created, he had no face and was only red eyes.

In Dream Drop Distance, you fight a boss with red eyes that looks very similar to when Vanitas was just created.

Do you think Vanitas might actually be Anti Black Coat?

I don't think so, first off, the description of Vanitas just after his creation is from a novel, which, like the manga, is of dubious canonicity, though that part at least has been confirmed but still. Second, they aren't even the same class of creature. Vanitas is an Unversed, Anti-Black Coat is a Nightmare Dream Eater. But with Nomuralogic, anything is possible. Still don't think that's the case though.

Interesting theory though, I kinda wish it were true.

I think it's just like a physical embodiment of the darkness that is keeping Sora trapped in the dreams.

I'm pretty sure it says in game in the journal it is a physical manifestation is Sora's nightmare

himmm.....  Interesting idea.  Hadn't thought of that one before.

But the game journal isn't going to tell you anything Sora/Riku/whomever you play as doesn't know.

Two years on, and people are STILL coming up with dumb theories like this?

Vanitas: I am your worst nightmare. (I can so picture him saying this xD)

Peace!

Vanitas is Ven's Heart's Darkness and the SOURCE of the unversed, not an Unversed himself.

That's what Ventus' Armored Nightmare is ^~^

Are you sure? I looked up the cutscene before the Anti Black Coat fight and Riku says "Are you whats trapping him in that nightmare?" So I figured its implying that it is nothing but the darkness keeping Sora trapped. I thought Ventus' Armored Nightmare is the result of Sora's heart falling into darkness. I might be mistaken though.

Ventus' Armored Nightmare is pretty much Ven's armor that was corrupted by the overwhelming darkness in Sora's heart. Ven used his armor to help protect Sora's heart from the darkness it was drowning in.

— Riku fights a Nightmare wearing a black coat in this world, just who was that?

Nomura: That Nightmare was the personification of the nightmare Sora was having.

Oh, my bad. I got Vanitas mixed up with his Remnant which is classified as an Unversed in the strategy guide.
