What are your thoughts on how the next FF will be?

Personally I think this game looks amazing and hope it lives up to expectations because Square needs this game to succeed.

I don't think you understand

When people said games like Final Fantasy XIII didn't feel like Final Fantasy anymore that's not because of few visual ques that are missing

They mean gameplay,story-telling,themes,battle system, the personality of the characters .....etc

sure FFXV is a step in the right direction(hopefully) but games like XIII and Lightning Returns can barely be called Final Fantasy

I mean seriously if you take chocobos and moogles out, rename those two games with a new name and people won't notice the difference

The way I see it,FFXV looks like a good FF spin-off.It doesn't look like FF ,it doesn't have a turn-based battle system and I don't know much about the story, but from what I saw it looks like a good action-RPG with tones of enemies from previous game in the series.

imo squares just evolving their gameplay I've played ff 4,6,7,crisis core,doc,8,9,10,10-2,13,13-2,13-3,14(not atm) and a bunch of other rpgs so i can understand how its not exactly the same as a traditional ff game which started changing around 6 but some of their greatest entries in the series made bold new decisions that worked out perfectly

It might have some recurring elements, but that doesn't mean that those of us who don't think it feels like FF need to suddenly change our opinions. Honestly, I just miss the old fantasy feeling of the first 6 and IX. I just want a throwback to that with gameplay that doesn't try to be overly complicated, and with an upbeat cast, or at least an interesting main protagonist. :/

I hear ya and id totally want to see something like that but I'm still stoked to have this one it looks like it has everything the other style did right plus a new combat system. and yea idk if they've even shown the main antagonist yet square likes to give those surprises sometimes

Y'all are missing the point of making something new. If they just made Final Fantasy X (For those that argue this is where 'it' started), the Final Fantasy XIII Trilogy, and Final Fantasy XV with all the methods of the past then the series would becomes stale. Also what's the point of creating a carbon copy of Final Fantasy VII, VI, or IV with just a different label, different names for characters? You may as well just replay the old if that's what you want. And you have to remember, the evolution and change of these games is not only done to keep the games fresh but to also maintain a presence in the extremely competitive gaming market. This is especially true considering the fast growing mobile market in Japan. Square must evolve their game design to keep things on consoles interesting. Also as a result of this evolution there will be titles that experiment in ways that we may or may not like. However, this does not make them any more or less Final Fantasy. If one day a Final Fantasy is released that becomes your favorite entry in the series it will have been that way because of the ones that came before it.

I don't really get why some people say that FF XV isn't a FF game.I guess if you are a fan of how the all the older games were and bought the series to keep getting that same type of game play/story/characters( I can draw a comparison to the persona series as to how persona 3 and 4 were a change in terms of social links and a blank slate for the protagonist and the school system)but to me it's just an evolution of the series, square themselves said so in regards to the action rpg aspect of the game and some other aspects as well,I've seen alot of people complain about this but I guess I would feel the same if the formula of a game I like changed drastically but I'd just be disappointed rather than complaining about it and bash the game for no reason, but before i make this some long post, I digress.

Anyway as for my thoughts on the game itself,I'm pretty hype for it,especially them graphics *.*,the gameplay looks really fun,I hope it's not to slow, from what I've read they changed the speed of combat somewhat as fans said it seemed too slow, well I guess it was that weight of weapons and whatnot that they're going for.I haven't really read up on details for the story(so I'm not sure if they released much details on that matter)but I'm goona assume it's gonna be awesome from the looks of the game so far.Anyway as The_eternal_nothing said square needs this game to succeed as home consoles are dying out in Japan because of the fast growing mobile market so they are putting their best foot forward from the looks of it.

I, for one, am very hyped for Final Fantasy XV!  It looks like the game will revolutionize the series yet again, and hopefully bring about an excellent story!  While I haven't played all of the numbered entries in the franchise, the diversity of each one I've played is one of the qualities I love most about the series.  The fact that none of the numbered entries are sequels (except X-2, XIII-2, etc.) and are standalone games with their own worlds, characters and stories makes the series that much more awesome!  I'm sure XV will be a great addition to the Final Fantasy family! :)

I hoping they fix the pace by release if it is slow but this games been developed for like 8 years so I'm guessing they have a plan of some sort... hopefully

Honestly, I think Final Fantasy XV will be the best in the series. It might even end up on my all-time favorite game, and it isn't even out yet. It just looks so fantastic, and the demo footage ALONE looks better than any triple A titles that has come out in this generation of gaming. I am SO pumped for this game!

A lot of FF fans on here miss the point of those of us who don't like the direction the series is heading. We like change. Change can be good. However, change doesn't require the series to completely change the feeling it once had. The way I see it, the old FF games had a sense of wonder that the new games just don't capture. The new ones just feel like they focused more on making the game more cinematic and serious. The sense of adventure and fun just seemed to disappear after IX. It's not because of the modern market, either. Plenty of newer console JRPGs still have that old FF feeling. Xenoblade Chronicles gave me that sense of excitement that the old FF games did (Heck, I'd say it gave me a greater sense of excitement). Even newer games in old series do. The Pokemon series has changed over time, but I still get the same feeling of wonder every time I play a new game. FF lost that for me. It feels like Square took less focus off the player, and more on the plot and characters.

It's difficult for me to explain, but there's a special feeling I get when I play FFIV or FFVI. Heck, even though I didn't like it, VIII still kinda had that going for it. When I played X, X-2, and XII... It was gone. There was no excitement. I was basically forcing myself to keep going. I didn't get the same feeling with those. I tried to make myself like them, but I didn't. I miss the days of having an interesting, large cast of characters, and a huge world to explore. Most of the characters post-VII felt like Cloud copies, or obnoxious teenagers (Zidane being the only one who I could really find likable). I understand that some people are fine with how the series changed. That's cool for them. They need to understand that some of us don't like the way Square's taken the series. We just want something that would make us happy, and at this rate, that doesn't seem like it's going to happen with FF. I've already moved on to different RPGs that give me the same feeling, and don't really see myself going back. XV doesn't look bad, but it still doesn't seem to have that feeling for me. I'm not a fan of gritty, serious RPGs. I need something that can give me a good laugh, and doesn't take itself too seriously.
