November 19, 20159 yr I don't care what people said about him but George Lucas is still one of my favorite directors and if it wasn't for him we probably would never had Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises. I love Star Wars (episodes 4, 5, 6) and Indiana Jones (1, 2, 3) ever since I watch them during my childhood during the 90's and so on, Star Wars the Prequel Trilogy had been my favorites because I grew up with the prequels since episode 1 when I was like six or seven. Episode 3 Revenge of the Sith is definitely my favorite Star Wars movie and I still love the movie till this day. Indiana Jones Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was good but nothing beats IJ: The Last Crusade because that's my favorite Indiana Jones movie. He's work on Star Wars and Indiana Jones has inspired me to do my own action, adventure, sci-fi, and treasure hunting stories for my animation projects when I'll start working on the hand-drawn animation business for television and films after I finish college in a few years. Thank you George Lucas for creating two amazing movie franchises ever!!! Edited November 19, 20159 yr by Movies798
November 19, 20159 yr He's just a bad director, in his later years anyways. He only directed A New Hope and the prequels. New hope is amazing but the prequels are just awful. Same with the Indiana Jones movies, he only did the story for those and they're all good except for the Crystal Skull. I would compare him to Toriyama, used to be good back in the FF7 and FF10 days but then just started to make garbage, FF13 series. Edited November 19, 20159 yr by RobertOrri
November 19, 20159 yr Maybe if he wasn't making garbage movies recently, he wouldn't be getting criticized.

You're gonna hate VII Remake's cutscenes then. Edited November 19, 20159 yr by Sora96
November 19, 20159 yr I don't know what he's talking about, he did whatever he felt like doing for the prequels (and much of Ep. VI). The man had total creative control over the movies; all he got to do was experiment. Problem is most of his ideas were terrible, so yeah, people complained about it. Funny how people criticize you when you keep firetrucking up for three straight movies.
November 19, 20159 yr Can understand his plight. Didn't have a problem with any of the Star Wars movies myself...nope, not even with the characters. Love you, Jar Jar!! He was a creative guy who literally received shit for ANYTHING he tried to do. Which is a shame, considering there are way worse actors out there. His time has run it's course...if people want to constantly be dissatisfied, I'd give it up too.

The Prequels were even more succesful than Episodes 4-6 (just look, they did a 3D animated series and a cartoon series of the prequel), and FFXIII... no words, sorry, but FFXIII is one of the best FF games off all time, regardless of what other opinions might say, otherwise it wouldn't have released 3 games + a chronicle novel (I don't really know how to call it, I know it isn't the proper name, but I hope you know what I mean ).

Actually XIII received multiple novels/novellas.
November 19, 20159 yr If they were so bad they wouldn't keep selling. People eat up bad movies all the time. Just because something sells well doesn't mean it's bad. Star Wars had a huge following. That's why the prequels were a financial success, but when you don't consider how it performed commercial, they're a pile of shit. Edited November 19, 20159 yr by JTD95

That's why the prequels were a financial success, but when you don't consider how it performed commercial, they're a pile of shit. I'm not just talking about the initial release, they sold fine on VHS, DVD and Blu-ray and are continually shown on TV and were even released digitally. This all costs money and clearly they make their money back and then some. They're only "a pile of shit" in your opinion. Almost everything big in this world gets a diverse reception.
November 19, 20159 yr Everyone's a critic. That's a fact. Should it end careers? Of course not! There are actors and celebrities that still have careers and they get criticized for doing the simplest of things and saying the simplest of things. George Lucas should be proud of what he has accomplished and not worry about what anyone else says.
November 19, 20159 yr It's a shame, since I'm one of the few who loved all six Star Wars movies. Episode VII looks great still, but having George Lucas involved wouldn't be as bad as people think it would be.
November 19, 20159 yr Reminds me of when my mom brought home a newspaper with a review of Episode III and the reviewer said it was called "Return of the Sith." My cousin and I were laughing our butts off. But seriously, I have to say that Episode I is my favorite, partly because of the nostalgia factor, and partly because I actually like Jar Jar Binks. *takes cover* I barely remember Episodes IV and VI. My parents showed me the original trilogy when I was around 4, and Episode V put me to sleep (ten minutes of Hoth and I was out like a light).
November 20, 20159 yr I honestly don't get why the Prequels get so much hate! I mean, they're great movies, just like the Original Trilogy, and they connect the story of the Star Wars Saga amazingly! But, like everything anyone does in life, you're bound to always get criticized, because you can't please everyone! But hey, as for me, I love the Prequels, and I love all the Star Wars films in general, and I'm greatly looking forward to Episode VII! It's gonna be insane! But yeah, George, I thank you for creating the Star Wars Universe! Love ya, old timer!

That's why the prequels were a financial success, but when you don't consider how it performed commercial, they're a pile of shit. You've got your own opinion, I think the prequels were better in all ways; the characters were better (except for not having Darth Vader and Han Solo, but at least we got rid of Luke), the action scenes were a lot better (not only because of better visual effects, but also because you've got more characters, like the battle at Geonosis in Episode II, you had an awful lot of Jedis), the story was more detailed (like, it's not just destroy the Deathstar, but more like each character has different goals, especially in Episode II and III) and even details like how each faction gets financied, how it works (like the senate in the Republic and the meetings of the Separatists), who are allies of each, etc. I'm not saying that Episode IV, V and VI are bad! Not by a long shot! They're great films, posibly the best of their time! But the prequels were a lot more worked on, or at least that's how I see it.
November 21, 20159 yr Author http://www.cbsnews.com/news/george-lucas-on-why-he-is-done-directing-star-wars/ "The issue was ultimately, they looked at the stories and they said, 'We want to make something for the fans,'" Lucas said. "People don't actually realize it's actually a soap opera and it's all about family problems - it's not about spaceships. So they decided they didn't want to use those stories, they decided they were going to do their own thing so I decided, 'fine.... I'll go my way and I let them go their way.'" "When you break up with somebody, the first rule is no phone calls. The second rule, you don't go over to their house and drive by to see what they're doing," he said laughing. "The third one is you don't show up at their coffee shop and say you are going to burn it... You just say 'Nope, gone, history, I'm moving forward.'"
December 5, 20159 yr If they were so bad they wouldn't keep selling. But that's only because it has the words STAR WARS slapped on it. They're still bad. Look, as much as I love The Force Awakens, it's only getting all the hype it has, because, it has the words STAR WARS slapped on it. STAR WARS is a sub-culture. It's transcended beyond a product of entertainment.
