With the announcement that both FFVII Remake and Hitman (2016) are being released across multiple episodes/installments, it is possible (but unlikely) that Square Enix might change KH3's business model to match this new development strategy. So my question is: if Kingdom Hearts 3 became episodic how would you feel?I think there are some positives such as being able to play the game earlier but waiting a month between each world would be painful.

Oh ho ho, no, no, no!!! D:

VII Remake is being split up in Episodes, and that's fine and dandy, and while I think they should have just worked on the game and release it in one complete package, what's done is done!

But don't do that for Kingdom Hearts III!  I want to be able to play the game completely, not just play little chunks of it at a time! D:  I know we've been waiting a long time for Kingdom Hearts III, but I'm willing to wait a bit more, just don't make the game episodic!  That'd just kill it for me!  Don't get me wrong, I'd still buy the game nonetheless, but I'd be irritated at having to wait a while for the next episode to release, ya know?

I guess we do have BBS 0.2 which is kind of a prologue to KH3. I gives us a taste of KH3 without ruining the real game. I think KH could work alright in an episodic way since they could make different characters or world's without affecting the main KH3 story. But I would want to enjoy the entire KH3 story in one burst then have side stories elaborated on with dlc.

Nope. Wouldn't happen. They aren't that dumb to do that.

Square Enix are known to make stupid decisions, so who knows.

Not necessary. KH3 doesn't need it because its not as large in scope and scale as FF7 Remake. FF7 needs episodic releases because if it was released as one full game it would be too large to fit on a disc and it would take way too long to finish

Not Nomura though. He knows better.

Except that the episodic thing with VII, and apparently with what was planned with Versus XIII, seems to be endorsed by him.

Where and when? Did he say so in an interview? If so, please show the quote and provide the link to it.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is a multi-part series. Please tell us more about this decision.

Kitase: “The idea that a remake of Final Fantasy VII would not fit into a single release was there from the very beginning. We still can’t share more information about its multiple parts, but please look forward to future announcements.”

Nomura: “If we dedicated our time to a single release, parts of it would become summarized. We’d have to cut some parts, and additional parts would come in few, so rather than remake the game as a full volume, we decided to do multiple parts.

I see. He has never said he'll do the same thing in KH3 interviews. Besides, if he knows the release date already for it, then there is no way he'll put it into episodes.

//*ugly laughter combined with fear of the unknown* We should be ok due to the reasons stated above, but then again there is no guarantee. After all Nomura changed plans drastically with khχ; adamantly refusing to give a western release before making it story relevant.

I'm going to be optimistic and say I trust Nomura, I'll probably regret this later but I trust that he won't make Kingdom Hearts III episodic.

Have faith. I do. Has he ever steered us wrong when it comes to delivering? Some may argue with KHUX coming worldwide, but that requires patience just like when it came to eventually releasing the Final Mix titles around the world.

Well, that is true.  Considering that Birth By Sleep 0.2 was supposed to be a part of Kingdom Hearts III, the fact that it'll be packaged with 2.8 as a prologue to KHIII kind of makes it feel like a separate Episode all its own, ya know?  I'm actually excited for 0.2, since its technically a "demo" that leads up to Kingdom Hearts III! :D

I just don't want the main game to be episodic, ya know?  But, like I said, if that turned out to be the case, I'd still play the game, but it'd be torture having to wait for another Episode to come around, ya know? X3

Hell no, that would be a terrible decision.

That would have to be a digital release only. And no one wants that arround here.

Hahahahaha...NO. I don't even wanna think about it.

What the firetruck is this?

What the firetruck did you just firetrucking say about me, you little arsonist? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in the NZ Firefighters Association, and I’ve been involved in extinguishing numerous secret bushfires in the Australian Outback, and I have fought over 300 confirmed fires. I am trained in advanced firefighting techniques and I’m the top volunteer in the entire NZ civil services. You are nothing to me but just another arsonist to be put behind bars. I will wipe you the firetruck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my firetrucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, firetrucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of firefighters across the entire USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You’re firetrucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can frame you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the New Zealand Firefighters Association and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your firetrucking tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You’re firetrucking dead, kiddo.

So then it would be like: Kingdom Hearts 3, Kingdom Hearts 3-2, Kingdom Hearts 3-3 etc.

What I was imagining would be Kingdom Hearts 3: Episode 1, KH3 Episode 2, etc. Each episode would have 3-4 worlds and cost $15 or something. And once all the episodes have released it would be packaged together as a $60 game.

I would still buy it, just most likely not at launch unless there is really good collectors edition material
