You are never too old to play video games

Now seriously, that's hard to find man, of course there's people of all ages that play games, but it's undeniable that there's a lot more people who play that are younger than those who are older. What I mean is that there isn't a restrictive rule that says that from a ceirtan age onwards you're not playing videogames, but the younger you are, the more likely you are to play videogames. And belive me, people grow out of videogames.

some people may grew out of it, but others like that person probably won't.

Just depends on the person man. Some grow out of it, some don't. But like Trece said, the amount of people who do is bigger, mostly because they get a family someday and have other priorities in their life.

Well obviously not, if he's 57 and still plays games he won't grow out of it xD

that's pretty understandable. I'll respect their decision

Of course not.

Same with watching cartoons.Though i can see how most games today aren't very appealing for older ages.

is it because they think it's repetitive?

Probably could be lots of reasons.

I see games like the Last of us or uncharted 4 as something that older ages could find pretty appealing, mainly older people who haven't played much games before.

I guess that's because it's more on the realistic side. Kinda makes sense

Man all I know is that I will forever play video games. Yeah sure some people "outgrown" them but I believe that won't happen to me because I know me. I'm a gamer by heart and playing video games is one of those things I need to entertain myself and relieve my stress and get away from reality in the real world for a limited time. Same thing like watching cartoons, animes, and movies. Plus just because you're getting older that doesn't mean you have to give up something you love. I hate that.

same here. I don't think I'll ever out grow it.

this is a rather personnal choice indeed, be it video games or cartoons or whatever appeals to the youger audiences.

Fact is, some grow out of it, some don't.

I for myself linger more towards a balance of both.

I mean videogames and cartoons, as we mentioned them, have been a part of my life for a very long time. So long I'd find it sad to just turn my back on them because I've grown older.

I enjoy this childish part of me, always refreshing and a nice break from daily life. Of course I don't play as much and am more focused on matters of everyday's life, but, like this 56y old pal, I still see myself picking my kh10.7 (you've seen it here first) when It goes out someday, sometimes, simply cause I like it, just like I'd still enjoy a good all moomin or Tom sawyer on a rainy afternoon.

Those are memories, people should cherish and not just turn their back on because "life"

then again, growing up allows you to discover other interests too, but I don't see videogames or cartoons or such as children only. And if that's how society wants it to be, then I'll still be more than happy and proud to still be a child inside when I hit this age cause somehow that's the recipe to never getting actually old, keeping that random child part of us :D

like everything, balance is key~

Interestingly enough, me and my (much older) coworkers were talking about this subject just this morning. They didn't think games were childish or to be outgrown, per se, but they didn't have a high opinion of them. That's because Coworker A's husband tends to spend upwards of $200 a month on in-game purchases in his MMO (I forget which), and Coworker B's son or relative apparently hasn't even gone to college yet because he's too busy gaming. Their stance on gaming is negative in general, because they've only experienced the negative sides of them -- the ones where they have to nag their own husband's spending habits, or deal with a deadbeat who won't get off his ass and do something with his life.

Obviously I came to gaming's defense, but it's hard to fault them for disliking what they view as a frivolous money-sink when they have house mortgages and kids to worry about. At the least, I showed them that it's possible to graduate college and have a job and still be a gamer. It's just when it's in excess that it comes to be a problem -- when anything comes to be a problem. I can spend $200 on Starbucks coffee and it'd have roughly the same effect as spending it for a game, although Coworker A would probably argue that at least coffee is more tangible than some bytes of data (but that's a debate for another time).

And People think i shoulden't like Skylanders at this age.

Definitely, one is never too old to play video games!  I know that I'll always be a gamer for the rest of my life, because video games have been a part of me since my childhood, ya know?  I'll definitely introduce my kids to video games as well, and the Beltran family lineage shall know the art of gaming! :D

But seriously though, once you're a gamer, you're always a gamer, ya know?  Like, even if you end up being really busy in life due to adult problems and life in general, there's always going to be a soft spot in a gamer's heart for video games, regardless of age, ya know? :)

Just like some people grow out of reading books, watching tv or watching movies, some people would grow out of playing games.

Tastes change but I personally believe I will always play games.

No, not everyone does grow out of it. The reason most older people don't play video games is because video games weren't around or as popular as they are now when they grew up. In the future video games will be just like movies. It'll be something virtually everyone does.

There are actually video games for adults anyways. But yet, I doubt some of these adults don't know about that nor ESRB.

They must be thinking that every single video game rating are for kids. I didn't even know that there were more video game ratings like M for Mature when I was younger, that was when I came across the MGS demo in the PS Interactive Disc Volume 9.

And I could bring up this gem that I still have: Motor Toon Grand Prix (which is Motor Toon Grand Prix 2 in Japan). It had a "K to A" (Kids to Adults) rating, I found out they changed it to E for Everyone rating.

And that's another thing: "Rated E for Everyone". IT'S FOR EVERYONE! Kids, Teens, AND Adults.  The "You're too old to play video games" don't really faze me. I don't care what people around me says. It's like what they say: "I'm grown. I can do whatever I want." I say: I'm an adult and I can do whatever I want, AS long as I can make a good decision about it.

Preaching to the choir here, but you are correct sir! I don't plan on ever not playing video games no matter what age I'm at. When I start a family, I'm hoping that it will make for a good bonding tradition. X3 <3

When did I say everyone mate? In my following post I said that that 57 year old man won't grow out of it, which already means I never meant to say everyone xD

What I tried saying is that Luke stated that you're never too old to play videogames because you don't grow out of it, and all I did was make clear that people (most people believe it or not) do grow out of it. E.g.: Me and most of my friends are growing out of videogames.

You couldn't be more wrong. There are WAY more adults in video games than kids. It's a fact. Just do a Google search on it.

Look, I'm not making a huge argument of this because I couldn't care less, but trust me, outside of internet there's a world that, no offense, a lot of people in internet don't know about. I live in that world, and I see people out, working, doing stuff, meeting up with their friends, cheering while watching a football match, but I don't see anyone who's reasonably old even having a basic knowledge in gaming. What do I want to say through this? Dude, the only people who I know that are properly into gaming are some people from my generation and younger ones, at least that's what I see here, I don't know what's going on where you live, and I trust what I see more than what I'm told about.
