Not too excited for FFXV (Here's why)

Posted

With FFXV's Demos and playing them, i generally feel lukewarm about it. I like the engine, the story and such but the gameplay just aint my cup of tea.And not to mention with so much coming around and after it, I'd rather get more of early september and october's releases. Yokai Watch 2, Ace Attorney 6 are coming in september and some great stuff in october.

My biggest issue is that the gameplay wants to fast and hectic but tries to balance that by making you slow down with your run being limited and MP draining quick. It also feels clunky with the targeting system and Noctis zipping all over just gets me annoyed as I cant keep up with it.And Nier Automata just looks so better than FFXV, I'm willing to wait for that. I'll watch the movie though, hopefully it isn't spirits within.

HOW DARE YOU NOT BE EXCITED FOR FFXV?!   On a serious note, that's fine. It's only natural that not everybody will like the game.

I haven't played the Platinum Demo of the game yet, but I really want to!  When I'm able, I'm sure as heck gonna get Final Fantasy XV!  I also want to get myself into Fire Emblem by buying Awakening and Fates, and I want to buy Tales Of Zestiria, and of course 2.8 when it comes out!  Gahh, so many games to buy! xD

Isn't the Platinum Demo free? You can get it right now.

Yeah, it is, but I'm busy playing Final Fantasy X-2, Dream Drop Distance and Unchained X!  So until I finish off playing X-2 and 3D, I won't play the Platinum Demo just yet, ya know?

Hey dood like it's not even an hour long so you should just play it real quick lol

To be honest i'm more hyped for World of Final Fantasy then for FFXV.

lol you must like the art style huh?

Lol, yeah, I know, but still, I wanna get the other stuff outta the way before I play Platinum, ya know? X3

Okay. If it isn't your cup of tea, then so be it. There are probably other people who aren't big about FFXV either.

Thanks for being respectful, not like I wanted to hate it but I was just skeptical and iffy on it.

Better be safe than sorry when it comes to skepticism of a major title and expectations for it. In fact, you might enjoy it more when it does come out because you are being cautious now.

World Of Final Fantasy looks like an hilarious fun game. But FFXV is on another level. #MainSeriesIsTheShizz

Bro, you're not even playing FFXV? If you love FF you should at least support it by buying it. It took massive amounts of money to make this game, and SE needs it to sell like hot cakes.

I dunno I might not since I want them to learn that they shouldn't try to make anymore FF games and try to branch out.

So what if he didn't want to buy it?It's his choice,it's his money and he does whatever he wants with his money

He tried both demos and gave them a fair chance and that's what demos are for,to give you a taste for the game and whether or not you want to get it

So what if they spent massive amount of money on it?All big AAA companies do and the dude cares more about his enjoyment of the game not Square's enjoyment of the cash rolling in their back account

Thank you Koopa, I only Support products that I find great. FFXV just didn't have what I wanted.

I haven't played the demos, but I'm still not planning on getting the game. All the footage I've seen rubs me the wrong way. I guess it's cool for huge ARPG fans and people that like the new FF games, but given that my personal track record with the series over the past 10 years has been rather poor to say the least, combined with the fact that I think the game just looks boring, I'm skipping XV. The new main series FF games just aren't for me.

I just wish it was something different because I dislike these games being referred as new FF games or FF reboots which isn't good.

With all due respect, Koopa, I was just throwing my two cents in. If he didn't want that he shouldn't have made this topic. That is what it's for, you know. He obviously wanted our opinion or he wouldn't have asked.

i used to be pretty excited for it but recently the gameplay has just changed and isn't really looking like my kind of thing. i played the demo and wasn't digging the combat. if anything i'll pick it up when it goes on sale.

i was more interested back when the game looked like a FF game crossed with KH2 combat mechanics, tbh. Platinum Demo didn't really sell me.

If they weren't called Final Fantasy games, I don't think I'd have as much of an issue as I do now. The new games are so different from the old ones that they don't feel like the same series. I started with the first game, and all of the first seven are among my favorite RPGs ever, especially IV-VII. In recent times, they went far away from what made me enjoy those and it doesn't seem like they'll ever go back to the series' roots outside of the occasional smaller title that's not related to FF at all. I have nothing wrong with people enjoying the new games, it's just lost the magic that it used to have in my eyes. Seeing that what was once one of my favorite game series is something I haven't been excited for in ages (Outside of XIV, which had an awful launch and needed to pull in an entirely different team to be fixed) is really disappointing.

If I make a topic I'll expect people to reply to it and I won't expect all of them to wholeheartedly agree with me. I said you should support it. So what? I'm still just throwing my two cents in. It not like you're obligated to oblige.

There's a difference between sharing your thoughts and telling people what they should or shouldn't do.

They wouldn't be hated so much if they didn't have the FF brand and yeah I really like 9 and 10 but people like to say that old fans will feel betrayed that FF is in a new direction despite it being better suited for a entire new IP. I'm just tired of them slapping FF on nearly everything they make. And yeah I know square cant escape death three times, I doubt this will kill them if it doesn't do good, but enough projects could put them under, which is saddening to a lot of people. But I hope this could be a wake up call to try new IPs without putting the FF brand on them

All the information we got at this years E3 actually got me even more hyped up for it. I will easily put 200+ hours into it and even more once DLC is released

That's really awesome man, glad to see people excited for something. I'm actually going to see the movie at least.

I also like IX, I just haven't played enough of it to give a solid opinion on it. I also couldn't stand VIII so I just put the cut-off point at VII xD

Square definitely is relying on FF a little too heavily. It's their most recognizable brand, sure, but making new IPs wouldn't hurt either, and some of these spin-offs could easily work as something else entirely. It's not like they can't reference FF or have cameos without calling it Final Fantasy, either; other game companies include little references or hidden characters to their franchises in unrelated games, too. The fact that some of the main series titles could easily fit as something entirely different doesn't help much in terms of the overuse of the branding, either.

On the bright side, I Am Setsuna looks like it's going to be the start of some new IPs that go back to some of their older game styles without just slapping the same name on it. They easily could have put Chrono in its name since the combat looks just like Chrono Trigger's, but they're trying something new, and I'm interested to see where that goes.

Just to clear some things up: I don't hate and that doesn't don't want to play FFXV, but because i'm hyped for a Spin Off Title doesn't mean i'm not going to play the game or i'm not that excited for the game. Eh... to be honest FFXV was one the two games that make me get into Final Fantasy.
