Going to be honest, in my opinion its pretty much a given that FF7 will out sell KH3 by millions of copies and then some. (Sorry!) However in my opinion if they we're to both release in the same year of 2017 (may not happen but possible given anniversaries) KH3 would need to release before FF7. Not because I'm a KH fan but because FF7 will always out sell it's competition with ease no matter what game it's up against. So if both games ended up releasing in 2017 then KH3 would need to release first to give it a chance of not hindering it's sales. If FF7 releases first and then KH3 a few months later, everyone will be too busy playing FF7 and KH3 won't sell as well as intended. In my honest opinion though (which I don't like the thought of) FF7 will release in 2017 and KH3 early 2018. I think the calendar behind young Eraqus in the E3 2015 trailer was intentional to match up to March 2018 as the games worldwide release date.

 

Another thing is.. we've barely had any information on FF7. We had those two trailers in 2015 and it wasn't at E3 this year because Nomura said he did'nt want to release info on the game until KH 2.8 releases.. and its like, what has that got to do with it? It seems strange but probable, given its anniversary, that FF7 will release in 2017 when KH3 was announced way before this remake. Like, we have to wait four years but then FF fans may only have to wait two years after the games announcement. Also we had to wait two years to get an official gameplay trailer where as FF7 got announced and then 6 months later they got a gameplay trailer. The development proccess and priority for KH doesn't exactly feel fair.

See thats the thing, it's highly anticipated for us the main fan base but others will argue and quite rightly, "FF7 is highly anticipated because its a remake with new current graphics." It's dawned on me with the anniversary of each game that eventually one has to take priority over the other and release first. It kind of scares me tbh how Square Enix will handle the release of both games. If KH3 releases a few months after I feel it will not get that attention it deserves. So that means spreading the releases out and waiting longer for the game. I'm just not sure how and uncertain how they're going to handle it. KH3 needs to release first to get the worlds attention. But that's my opinion.

I understand where your coming from but for instance the FF7R trailer has 14 million views whereas KH3 trailer has 4 million.. so yanno even that points in its favour

I'd say KH3 would be more likely to release next year,but with FFVII remake being episodic they could release the 1st episode next year for the 20th anniversary.If Square really has to pick one of the 2 games for next year and if the anniversary matters then FFVII remake would most likely be the one to be release next year,more people are aware of FFVII's anniversary then KH(I didn't even realized next year was the 15th anniversary of KH)

FF7 is supposedly going to be in episodes so it will more than likely beat out KH3 in sales but despise that I agree that it would still win even if it's one game. I think it's possible that they release in the same year since FF7 is in episodes (but then again maybe it's just that big) I think KH3 will finish first though since it was announced first and some of the creators of that game I assume will go on to work on FF7 once they are done. Overall I see Final Fantasy VII Remake coming out in 2018, that's 3 good years to work on it since it became official at E3 2015.

As a fan, my money is on Kingdom Hearts III, since it's the most wildly anticipated entry in the series, and there's been a lot of hype building up over the years! So I'm sure that when more promotion for the game comes around, more people will be attracted to it!  Lots of new fans will probably take notice of this game!  And well, for us old fans, it's a given we'll get the game!  Even some skeptics that haven't been playing KH as much will probably take a shot at it, ya know?

 

But realistically speaking, Final Fantasy VII has been in the hearts of gamers for a longer time.  Even though I never played the game, I've heard and read from so many different people that FFVII is a masterpiece and that it helped change the face of RPG's and whatnot!  And well, since the Remake is in the works, all eyes are on that, of course.  So yeah, I'm pretty sure that FFVII Remake would probably sell much more!  

 

But honestly, I think that next year can see both games releasing!  I mean, if there's a significant enough time gap between releases, I don't think Kingdom Hearts III's sales would be affected all that much!  Like, for instance, let's say that FFVII Remake releases on July of next year.  And let's say that Kingdom Hearts III comes out in December!  The time gap would be significant, providing the two games with great sales!  But that's just me hoping!

Also a lot of FF fans are actually sic of hearing about FFVII or are irritated with that the series isnt turn based any more. So the only people who are gonna play it  are the newer fans who love the action combat, ff vii fans that arent angry and the open-minded fans of the series. Which is a more of minority than you might think.

Amen! KH3 is a highly anticipated title and one thing is for sure is HD2.8 will only increase the anticipation for it.

you'd think it would outsell from the name alone. No,  there is alot of anger and frustration in the ff fanbase right now. I'm pretty sure there are more kh fans than there are FF fans that actually like ffvii  enough to go through it again

FF7 alone sells like half of the KH series' with 7 games and the HD remixes+the original COM. 

Not to mention that FF is Square's top selling franchise, meanwhile KH is on the middle.

I don't think it's possible that KH3 could sell as many copies as Final Fantasy VII.  Final Fantasy reaches out to a wider variety of gamers, and most gamers have at least heard of FF while they aren't as familiar with Kingdom Hearts.  There's also the fact that FF7 has such a reputation and is believed to be the best Final Fantasy in the series (which I beg to differ, but that's a conversation for another place and time), so it has that going for it.  People are going to be psyched to replay this game in its revamped and improved form, and then there's going to be those who missed out on the original who will be psyched to play it.

 

Due to popularity alone Final Fantasy VII will sell more copies.  While KH3 is going to sell like hot cakes among Kingdom Hearts fans, I don't think it could receive the same reception upon gamers worldwide as a whole, predominately because Final Fantasy has a larger name, especially VII.

Believe me, through the last 4/5 years I've seen people on Youtube anticipating KH3 way more than they have FF7, although when the latter got announced, the whole internet was in shock. And that's how I think it's going to be with every information release from the game. Still, just for the first reason, I think KH3 is more anticipated.

Yeah I agree with that. KH3 can be anticipated more since its almost been 10 years for myself (UK) since kh2 was released. I would love for KH3 to release before FF but its just so uncertain at the moment. If the kh3 trailer says now in development later this year it will put 2017 into serious doubt.

At this point, the release date is either December 2017 or March 2018, as the E3 2015's calendar strongly hints at it.

People need to calm down, and here's why:

1. Unless you own stock in Square or something, who cares about sales? All you can do is buy your one copy.

2. I think at most they would only need a few weeks apart to be okay. Obsessed fans would blow through FF7 so fast, and casual fans won't care to complete the game before KH3.

3. Yes, everyone knows what KH is. That doesn't mean it's popular, or that everyone plays the games, but I'm sure everyone knows about the game that has Square and Disney characters.

4. FF7 only has Square looking after it, but KH3 has both Square and Disney looking after it. Trust me, KH3 is going to be fine in the marketing department.

5. KH never makes a big splash in opening sales, but the series has proven to have strong legs. This means while the series never sells too much at any one time, it consistently sells a healthy amount for months, compared to other games that blow their stack in the first two weeks, and then barely make the top 40 list.
