"Memoirs" feature in Kingdom Hearts 3D explained

Square Enix have updated their official Kingdom Hearts blog to explain a newly announced feature in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. As you can see from the screenshot below (click for a larger image), the game will feature a "Memoirs" section that will summarize the Kingdom Hearts series and present the information chronologically. This will help people to understand the game if they have not played some of the previous games.

Update: Pavlovic Sarah from KH13 has translated the blog post from Square Enix. You can read this translation below.

Kingdom Hearts 3D [Dream Drop Distance] will contain a menu called MEMOIR.

First screenshot:

Tutorial → You can use this guide to confirm gameplay aspects
Reflection Scene
Chronicle
Game Help

Choose the Memoir you want to see
- Free Fall Action (Normal)
- Reality Shift
- Free Fall Action (Battle)
- Spirit Link

Second screenshot:

Terra, Aqua, Ventus were in the world called Land of Departure, which is protected by generations of students of Keyblade masters, to practice under Master Eraqus to become Keyblade masters.

Originally, Terra and Aqua were both expected to became accepted as masters, but...

- Birth by Sleep *this one is selected*
- Kingdom Hearts
- 358/2 Days
- Kingdom Hearts II

In MEMOIR, you will be able to check the tutorial as often as you want and get various reflection-scenes of the story as you advance through the game. You will also be able to see your game progress in this menu.

Furthermore, in CHRONICLE you will be able to see the explanation of the past series, and therefore, those who are playing Kingdom Hearts for the first time will be find a summary of the story and be able to enjoy the game even more.

No summaries for Chain of Memories or coded? Interesting... I wonder why?

Because coded is pointless? I don't know about CoM though.

This is a good feature to have.

It said that the summaries are unlocked as you advance through the story. It's possible that CoM and Coded just haven't been relevant at the time of the screenshot.

I was wondering if y haf to complete world to gain one of these. There is seven worlds and 3D is seventh game. gaining memoir from each world except last one would be awesome.

Nice feature. Can't wait to try it out.

thats a awesome feature huge step up compared to just having a few lines on the first few pages of the instruction book giving the shortest and simplest explanation ever of a game series

Huh not bad though I hope we could play short levels of the games or demos or something...

Man... Please... 3D is POINTLESS without Coded / Re:Coded. Coded can look like a non-important game, but Sora and Riku wouldn't be in this exam without it.

The game is short, you should play it, it's very fun.

Coded isn't necessary for them to have the exam. They could have just used Re:coded's secret ending as the first cutscene of 3D.

Or made it the secret ending to Days or BBS, or something.

But DDD is making it seem more likely to me that plot points from Coded are going to be more important than they first appeared (Notethat the journals are still important)

Coded isn't necessary for them to have the exam. They could have just used Re:coded's secret ending as the first cutscene of 3D.

Coded is necessary to Mickey know where Ventus' heart is, to know that there are many people linked to Sora (Roxas, Axel, Xion, Naminé, Ventus, Aqua, terra) In a special way.

Also, I think that Mickey wasn't going to interfere with Sora's life so much from that point, but after everything that went in Coded he saw that Sora's life was more connected to what was happening than anyone there.

Naminé hinted the comeback of Xion and Herself. Explained why the Jornal wen blank in Chain of Memories, showed that the digital was very linked with the real. Mickey told Sora that when he (Sora) first arrived at traverse town he was there too.

So, if you think that Re:Coded is just for the secret ending, then you couldn't be more wrong. It's very clear that you haven't played the game, so don't talk about it (LOL, thing just got personal, hehehe, just kidding)

Nice feature. I read in another website that the tutorials wil be playable when replayed. Something similar to Training Mode in some fighting games.
