Nomura talks Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX in latest Famitsu Weekly

The latest issue of Famitsu Weekly, releasing on March 13, 2014, has contained an article called “Those Who Make the Next Generation of Games“, where various game creators for the next generation of consoles were interviewed. Tetsuya Nomura, the director of the Kingdom Hearts series has answered some questions, and revealed some small bits of information regarding the series.

Nomura also revealed new bits about the development progress of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix: the additional voice recording has been completed. (Likely for KH: Re:coded.). He is also working on further development of the scenario for the browser game, KH X (chi).

But, perhaps more importantly:

Nomura has started to raise a blue tabby Scottish fold CAT!

Thanks go to hokanko-alt for this summary, and to SQUARE PORTAL for providing these translations.

That's nice. When's the release date?

Yes, yes, yes, the voice recordings are finished!  I'm so totally psyched!  And who knows!?  Nomura might feature his cat in a future Kingdom Hearts game as a cameo appearance!  That would be awesome, lol.  Now we have to hope a release date for 2.5 comes out soon.

Do you think he means English voices as well or just JPN?

I'm guessing English voices as well.  I mean, it's been long enough already, so 2.5 should have already released in Japan by now.  So either the game is coming out in about May or June and it comes out here in November, or Nomura is planning to make a worldwide release at the same time.  That would be insane. O.O

I for one think square is extremely lazy with the development processes of their games that aren't ports or lightning games. Both the FFX and KH remasters took 2 years to come out. THEY ARE firetruckING HD REMASTERS. IM SURE ITS NOT ALL THAT HARD.

Well then, with voice recordings finished, I guess a few more touch ups here and there, and I predict a worldwide release, because he could released a JAP version of KH2.5 at the end of this month, but I don't see that happening.

he talked about the time he joined Square. During then the company was mastering-up Final Fantasy IV and he was helping with debugging.

So tell us how your obsession with Kain started!

...they lost the source code for one of them, that's obviously going to lengthen the amount of work needed (reverse-engineering and stuff). Also, HD remasters or whatever aren't usually high priority. And Nomura said he wanted to improve 2.5 as much as possible before releasing it.

It's mostly the Japanese voices for Re:coded.

I just hope he meant he's done recording all the languages and not just Japanese. I really want this game to come out soon but well I still have to finish up with KH COM so they can take as long as they want. xP

Hopefully the voices include English for KHII FM HD's extra scenes.

Did you forget there was only 2 people working on this and somethings had to be completely remade? If it is not so hard than you do it because it is usually a full team working on a collection and square is busy with other games. It's a business.
