Death Is Meaningless In Kingdom Hearts
Right, being unable to be yourself and live your own life is "happy." No, it's pretty obvious they'd have lingering feelings, but it was more that they were... content? That it wasn't as bad as it could have been. By the way, it wasn't DDD where that was made obvious... it was pretty clear from Days even that Roxas still had things he wanted to do. Regardless, about bringing in the biggest emotional response, think of how Roxas reacted to Xion's "death." Even if WE know Xion is probably coming back, Roxas doesn't. The emotions that Roxas clearly feels in that moment is what always gets me. It's not always the death itself that elicits the reaction from those big types of moments.

Death Is Meaningless In Kingdom Hearts
You're saying Roxas, Namine, and Xion didn't have tragic stories in because of the fact that they could come back? Terra, Ven, and Aqua seriously got screwed over, but none of them died, and yet that got an emotional response out of people. Death also does not necessarily make a story great. Everyone and their mothers is trying to follow Game of Thrones' style of killing everyone off in recent years, so much that it's honestly gotten pretty tired. It's nice to have something that doesn't do that once in awhile. And you know what? KH does something better than blatantly killing someone off. It damages them, takes them out of the picture for a certain time, but they can come back and learn from those experiences, become better people. Hardship is what makes a story interesting and emotional, not specifically death.

How bad is No Man's Sky?
I saw this coming a mile away. Procedurally generated games never turn out all that great, barring minecraft which had creative value.

Death Is Meaningless In Kingdom Hearts
Well, when they first were killed off/disappeared, we had no idea they were coming back so it didn't ruin the impact. I still don't think it does. Those events still happen, it's just that there's a possibility that they can come back. It's not like very many of them actually "died" per say. Roxas and Namine fused back with Sora and Kairi, so there was still an aspect of them left alive, doesn't seem fair that they can't be their own people when they're still there technically. Hell, even Xion fused back with Roxas, so her existence was still there. It also made a lot of sense that nobodies become themselves again when both their heartless and nobodies are defeated. The only ones that seemingly had a real death were Riku Replica, who I doubt we'll see, and Eraqus, who may or may not come back due to the heart imprint thing, although I'm betting he won't come back, at least not in full. Doesn't mean those "deaths" aren't still depressing in a sense. Terra, Aqua, and Ven never died, but people still call their story depressing, and Roxas, Xion, and Namine are trapped in a similar way.

[SPOILERS] Exclusive back story for Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep -A Fragmentary Passage- shown at Kingdom Hearts Concert -First Breath-
While cool... wtf with having that scene be exclusive to concerts?

Unpopular Opinions about KH?
Terra wasn't as stupid as people make him out to be Aqua isn't that great of a character, but she has a lot of potential People nitpick and overanalyze waaaay too much about every aspect of the series, to the point where it's incredibly irritating. The games aren't perfect, but live a little, people. You're only making things worse for yourself. KH having a lot of backstory and lore is no bad thing. It makes the story continuously interesting.

Director's Secret Report XIII
Anyone else feel that the period of Riku's absence could potentially make a pretty great DLC for KH3? I mean I really don't think it's enough for a full game, but isn't that pretty spread out? It could refer to post CoM/ during 358 stuff, and post KH2 prologue to explain how he got Way to the Dawn and Destiny's Embrace. It's the perfect kind of DLC since it's material that wouldn't really work for the main story of 3 but could provide a little extra playtime and possibly develop characters like Namine more.

Coverage: Kingdom Hearts Concert -First Breath-
And just like Ven on the Chi anniversary art, those are some random-ass choices. But because of the mention that things are "in the works," can't help but feel like them being there is somehow important. Also, holy hell I hope that concert gets recorded. I wanna hear the new tracks and even the old stuff soooo badly.

What I Think We'll See This December!
ShadowKeyblade replied to The Transcendent Key's topic Kingdom Hearts III & Kingdom Hearts III Re MindYou know how Final Fantasy XV had it's Uncovered event unveiling it's release date (and other stuff)? Same principle, but KH. Personally, I don't think it makes sense to do given how we'll have the demo and movie equivalents (AKA 2.8) waaay before march, and those were the biggest draws from the FFXV event besides the release date. It just wouldn't work for KH3 as it did for FFXV.

The potential of KH3 gives me goosebumps.
Add to the fact that since this is a major title for them it'll no doubt be much more polished than those of the handheld titles. Honestly, all of this is why I really don't have much concern when it comes to KH3's gameplay. Even looking at 0.2's demo you can tell they balanced some things out quite well.

The magic of the original Kingdom Hearts trilogy
I kind of agree with you on this, there was some real magic about those first 3 games. Story-wise they've kind of done a decent job with the later games, with various hits or misses in each, but gameplay-wise nothing comes close. With that being said, I really feel like 3 will come out on top. The handheld games felt like they had much less effort put into them, but 3 being a big console title important to square, I don't think we'll have as many cut corners as before. The combat holds a lot of promise already from what we've seen in the latest footage and 0.2, and the platforming already looks better than most other titles in the series. Even the story I feel will find it's place. It certainly helps that we're at the end of the story, and we've got Donald and Goofy back along for the ride. Nothing is set in stone of course, but I think it is on the path to greatness.

NEW KH3 TRAILER TOMORROW NIGHT!

Played 0.2 at San Diego Comicon, ask me anything about it
Glad to hear. Couple other things: 1) How was the world? I mean, it looked more interesting than 2 and BBS's, but was there any real platforming or was it a lot of that weird automated climb/free run thing we've seen in trailers past? 2) Shotlocks (if you used them): were they OP like in BBS, or scaled down? 3) Does Terra look any better than the poor images we've been getting?

How did the combos in 0.2 feel?

Can someone make the 3rd anniversary art bigger?
No, I'm glad you did that. It's definitely a nice substitute. I think we all just wish we could all see the bottom a bit better.

Can someone make the 3rd anniversary art bigger?
He did say the actual artwork, not the card, guys... But yeah, I'm guessing not much is gonna be done with that artwork currently, even small it looks low quality.

Kingdom Hearts III Riku Outfit Sketch!
Yeah, I like the look. Though I hope there's still some yellow in his design... kinda wish they went with the sleeveless look as well since that's a staple.

Kingdom Hearts III Sora & hooded Riku & Kairi featured in new Kingdom Hearts χ[chi] Key Art by Tetsuya Nomura
I wasn't expecting to wake up to this. Awesome, glad they changed Riku's outfit especially. Wonder what the purpose of putting Ven or a Ven look-alike there anyways? Uh, no. Wouldn't that make the whole Roxas being his own person thing from every game in the series totally bunk? Not that it'll happen since they're shown separately a couple times in DDD.... EDIT: Just realized Kairi's hair is shorter, too. Thank you, Nomura! I missed her KH1 hair, and this looks like a happy medium between the two.

Why do you torture me, square? I need that Sora figure... but I really wanted one of Roxas, too!

Dean Has Spoken.
Gotta love dean. Tbh, the play arts thing is what got me thinking 2017 moreso than the job listing.

Franchises You Could Never Get Invested In?
Mario-- Too bland as far as its universe goes, the 3D platformers have decent gameplay, tho. Red Dead-- GTA with horses. Also, it's story didn't grab me Borderlands-- Repetitive as all hell Anything made by Valve Any racing game that isn't a Kart racer Pretty much any Nintendo franchise that isn't Zelda or good for parties Sports games MOBAs

Why Kingdom Hearts III Is NOT Confirmed for 2017
Lol, to be honest I kind of expected the KH youtubers to blow it out of proportion anyways.

Why Kingdom Hearts III Is NOT Confirmed for 2017
I don't think anybody with common sense thinks that it's actually confirmed, just that with all the news it seems a lot more likely that it will be next year. At the least, it doesn't seem like it'll be far off.
