• The Last Guardian
• The Walking Dead S3 by TTG... I hope my choices effect something this time -_-

Was quite a full year for me, game-wise

• Life is Strange 
• Final Fantasy X HD 

 

Well admittedly FF X HD is still in progress for me but I'm loving every moment of it. Life is Strange was just amazing. I've never played a game like that before and been so blown away.  

Just looking at games that came out this year, Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past is hands-down my favorite game of 2016 so far. I'm almost 30 hours in and I've just barely scratched the surface of what all there is to do in the game. The writing and translation are fantastic, there are a ton of options for classes and abilities, and it's just been a ton of fun to play. I haven't even finished it, but it's already one of my favorite 3DS games (Might even be my #1, excluding Xenoblade 3D). I hate counting remakes for my favorite game of a year, but I can make an exception for DQVII because it changed so much from the original.

 

Runner-ups would be Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Kirby Planet Robobot, Stardew Valley, and Fire Emblem Fates.

The only game from 2016 that I've bought so far is Naruto Storm 4 and I really love that game. I've also pre ordered XV and that's it for 2016 releases. I really just don't have the time to play them nor do I care, but XV is an exception.

 

As for other games that I've completed this year for the very first time, Final Fantasy 8 and Final Fantasy 13 definitely come to mind, both are amazing games with great stories (8 especially) and really fun gameplay.

AC3 is the best AC game imo. Gameplay is the pinnacle of Assassin's Creed.

Splatoon (had a lot of fun playing)

I'm pretty picky about my games, so I haven't played much this year.

 

Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth probably takes the cake. Such a great raising Digimon system, plus surprisingly challenging turn-based battles and a clever story.

 

ABZU was also a surprise favorite; I mean, I knew I'd like it, because it's Journey underwater, but still, sorta snuck up on me.

 

Stories: The Path of Destiny is probably the last one I'll put on the list. I didn't get into it at first, but it's a great game to take in small chunks, since you can run through "stories" pretty quickly.

 

Shout out to KHUX (yes I like playing it, fight me) and Persona 4: Dancing All Night, too. I'm absolute shite at rhythm games, so as a "game" goes I wouldn't class it as my favorite, but the story is way deeper than Arena/Ultimax and arguably Q.
