I was wondering why it didn't work sometimes

One button proud mode was easier for me than standard mode for some reason

I think it's because you can still press stuff if you miss

I think if you hit early with X, you can use L1 or R1 to not let that lock happen

I need to test it out tho first

Also, performer mode notes don't have any circles

Probably so there's not too much on screen
