I really hate the people who claim Tumblr is nothing but a bad website. Don't get me wrong, plenty of bad stuff goes down on Tumblr, but I think overall it's a good thing. It helps kids discover their sexuality and gender identity and is a great place to make friends. It also spreads the word about feminism and social justice, so that kids who grew up never realizing anything was wrong are now exposed to the failures of the world and are determined to help fix it.

Sometimes,I hate people who have a misunderstanding personality.Seriously, they thought really bad for me,as if I'm like a criminal that should be rot and die. They make their own justice to others without giving a chance. And for that,I swear in the name of sweet revenge that I should do whatever it takes to make them suffer,be it physical or their feelings instead...

I think...

Holistic admissions aren't really very holistic. When only 10% of your students come from high school with a 3.5-3.8 GPA (everyone else is higher) that implies it's not very holistic. And the majority of applicants (over 70%) on each SAT section (CR, M, and W vary slightly) earn between a 700-800 on each section. I understand that a holistic admissions process takes into account every aspect of your application but I find it hard to believe there is barely anyone worth admitting whose SAT or GPA isn't perfect. I've read horror stories of people being rejected from my first choice when they had a 2300 SAT and 4.5 GPA with APs and tons of ECs and great essays.

I'm really glad I don't have very high aspirations (this coming from a straight A student in Honors/AP courses). X_X

For the sake of curiosity, do you know what school that was (I'd imagine it was some Ivy league place or on Harvard level or something like that)?

EDIT:

I should probably add an unpopular opinion here... OH!

(For reference, most of my friends forgo the use of pencils for pens in school.)

I scream internally every time I see someone using a pen for note taking/school work and they scratch something out. It just looks so ugly. Sure, pen may look nicer than pencil, but not when your writing is covered in scratched out stuff. So long as your eraser doesn't suck, pencil will always be superior for school IMO.

It's William and Mary. It's more selective for girls than it is for boys. The men's admission rate (in state at least) is around 40%, while the women's is around 25%, and if you're oos it drops to around 20%-15%, It's my top choice for college which is SUPER nerve-wracking because just by applying the odds are stacked against me.

The thing about admissions into university is that they might care about demographic ratios. They might want to keep their M:F ratio, maybe force diversity of ethnic backgrounds, ect.One of my teachers that claimed to work with admissions said that they personally preferred when a student was co-enrolled in a community college with highschool instead of taking AP courses. Because they tended to do better in college/universities if they did okay/well in some college courses for highschool students, rather than doing well in AP courses. (A few community colleges I know of actually work with highschools to make that work out and make the students for that section of the class be exclusively highschool students.)I don't know if that is a common consensus, or just that one single persons choice of preference.Though that IS something to keep in mind if you are just comparing high school and SAT scores, did they also take some college courses while in highschoool? Also some universities will prefer those who are active in clubs, community service, and/or sports over those who just have good grades. Because they have an idea a healthy student, or at least a student that has a better chance of looking good publicly does more of those activities.

I am just saying there are other variables aside from just SAT, highschool GPA, and essays.

I find it worse when people take math tests in pen. Though the person I saw using pen the most was someone going into chemistry, and for a chemistry lab notebook you are ONLY ALLOWED TO USE PEN. Not only that if you make a mistake you have to scratch it out instead of using white out. I am not sure if it was just the instructor or if that is a standard for chemistry lab note books. But yeah I do mostly agree with your opinion. Though in subjects where I rarely to never make scribing mistakes, I like to use pens for their colors. And color pencils don't really erase well anyways.

Yeah, that's how my school required Chemistry notebooks to be as well. It annoyed me to no end, especially with my tendency to make stupid errors when writing. X_X Our math teachers here simply do not allow pens to be used. They'd probably make you retake the test if you turned it in in pen.

Yikes. X_X That just doesn't sound fun at all. I looked to school up, looks like a nice place. I wish you the best of luck. ^_^

Like all things, Tumblr has a good side and a bad side.

Yes, helping kids learn their sexuality and gender identity is fantastic. The world is growing and as more people are becoming open about these sorts of things, we can only hope that someday it'll all be the norm or not the subject of hate and violence. The spreading of social issues and awareness is also fantastic, but it shouldn't be someone's primary source of news or information. It's great for a starter, but if people really care about a certain issue and are able to physically do something about it, reblogging about it repeatedly is like the "1 like = 1 prayer" on facebook.

And honestly, I DID like the good side of tumblr...until everything became all special-snowflake, "let's see who has the most privilege points", misusing the word "trigger" , and the general hivemind firetruckery that seems to be a large portion of the site.

Now of course that side is easily avoidable, but some of the shit I seen...well, let's just say I'd rather be on the weird side of youtube.

Quite honestly, I'd like to be able to look up cute pictures of Chihiro from Dangan Ronpa, without seeing over 9000 text posts about people arguing the gender of a fictional character.

(By the way, I apologize if I've come off as rude to you in any way, that's not my intent, so I apologize if I did)

I don't understand the not knowing your sexuality thing. Like ever since I've remembered getting erections it's always either been from naked women or its one of those conspicuous boners that pops up in the middle of class or something. I don't see how it would be any different for gay people.

Eh, everybody's different. Not all people have it as easily, whether it be from internal or external influences >.< If you were told that liking women from a young age was deplorable, you might grow up feeling ashamed, being attracted to them. But, as I said eh everyone's different.

It took me a few years to learn that I don't give a shit what gender someone is so long as I like their personality - also that I have no sex drive. I have relatives that are like you though who, at a young age, knew they were attracted to the same sex :3

I find it annoying when people just don't know their boundaries. Like, if this person does not wanna talk about something then drop it and leave it alone and don't bring it back up. If they wanna talk about they will, do not force them.

I hate that some people think that the grade (and your GPA) you get in school determines your worth.

Romance in books and movies and stuff is getting boring....if you must have romance in the damn show/movie/game/whatever how bout make it something that's not common? Why not a male/male or female/female romance? I rarely see it. (I'm not looking but should I have to)

Also, Not every single character in a show or movie or whatever needs a sticking love interest. It gets old if every character is drooling after someone.

Hmmmm what else have I been dwelling on....oh the colour yellow gives me a head ache...I think that's a opinion.

Speaking for myself at least, it's pretty weird feeling like yep I definitely like boys because that's been reinforced as okay by everyone, but then I was like well I mean I actually like girls too so? And I sort of convinced myself that I didn't really like them, I just thought they were pretty and would be great friends. That's not actually how I felt but all I'd learned about was being gay or straight. I definitely wasn't gay, but I wasn't straight either, so I just kinda awkwardly tried to convince myself that I didn't really like girls. It's when I signed up for Tumblr that I learned about things like bisexuality, asexuality, etc. and finally I was like OH there is a word for how I feel! There are other people who feel this way!

I completely agree with everything you've said here.My brothers a primary example of someone who doesn't know their boundaries - I mean, I know he's 10 but he often asks my waifu personal questions that pry and make him uncomfortable. A lot of people have done it to me, too. Like i love my friends, but this one girl im friends with can just be so NOSY and like, not take a hint when something is quite obviously making me uncomfortable. And yes, on the romance thing! Wheres the friendship stories? I want more friendship! Love is awesome and all but meh...gettin' old

The thing is male/male and female/female are less common in the real world so naturally there'd be less stories about them. Given that it's likely the writers themselves aren't gay so it might be hard for them to write a convincing/powerful love story based around that because of the fact they simply can't relate coupled with the pressure of not causing offense to the gay community because they depicted a gay romance in an inappropriate fashion. To avoid all this they just don't write about it.I've yet to see a show or movie where every single character has an...uh "sticking" love interest (do they have a fetish for glue or...?) so I can't really comment on that part.

I mean stinking not sticking, typo

Ah, so we're dealing with body odour. I guess I've seen one or two of those in media but saying every movie or book character is into that kind of smelly folk is a bit of an overstatement.

I was joking in  both comments in case you couldn't tell.

I could tell, just felt the need to point out that it was a typo. And brownie points for seeing a opportunity and taking it.

I kind of agree with this. I think romance can only be done right if the whole character isn't all about love, I think the best way to approach it is to have the character have a shit ton of other interests and try not to make the entire story about him/her loving him/her because it can either get cheesy, predictable or straight up terrible.

Lots of Indian shows and movies I see these days suffer with it.

The problem with romance is that it's shoehorned into everything, even when story would have been perfectly fine (or better) without it. And they always go with the same types of romance plot. There are maybe, like, 7 different romance plots that are used, and they always play out the same way with absolutely no surprises. It's boring, frankly.

The Amazing Spiderman 2 is extremely underrated, and 10x better than the sludge of steaming-dog-poop-mixed-with-digested-indian-food that was The Desolation of Smaug. The fact that the latter got better reviews than the former is really confusing and a little annoying to me.

I'm not sure if what I'm about to say is an unpopular opinion, but I'm going to say it anyway. Never trust movie reviews! Always watch the movie yourself. The exception to this rule is if it's a movie that everyone knows, and everyone agrees is a bad movie. E.G. The Room, Birdemic, and Plan 9 from Outer Space. Edit: Never might be slightly strong, but just remember that everyone has different tastes in movies.

Ooh, have to disagree on this one. Even if I wasn't a Tolkien nut, I really did not care for Spider-Man 2 at all. The villains are practically the main characters, as they are the only ones trying to accomplish anything constructive in the movie. Spiderman and Peter Parker are practically afterthoughts in this movie, with no real goals themselves. Parker and Stacey have their awkward on-again/off-again romance plot which essentially means nothing, considering that they clearly always want each other throughout the movie, rendering the entire struggle pointless. And as much as I am for embracing the cheese, the movie really just seemed to never hit its stride tone-wise, shifting from Schumacher levels of camp to attempting to try and be sincere and emotional to the point where I couldn't take it seriously.

You do make a good point, especially with the tone wise thing. The movie is fairly unfocused and a bit overcrowded, but I still loved it. I'm not gonna try to dispute all your points, since that would mess with the flow of the topic, but I respect your opinion on that.

I agree wholeheartedly. I actually enjoy writing in my free time and at one point I wanted to be a screenplay writer. One of my favorite stories of mine would take 9 films in order to tell the whole story. When I got done planning out the whole story I realized that the main character didn't have a major love interest until the 5th film. Because practically every fricking movie has the main character in love with someone, it made me feel like I had a poorly written story. I actually sat down and tried to FORCE a romantic subplot into the first film. I couldn't do it. After a while I realized that it was poor writing for me to even try to force romance into a story where it didn't have it's place. Not everyone is in love at all times in their life. Love just happens when you least expect it and incorporating THAT into writing is what can truly make the romance relate-able and interesting. Not trying to force it where it doesn't belong.
