What anime/manga series' did you grow up with?

Well I've read and watched a lot of anime and manga series. I've been subscribed to Shounen Jump for quite a while. Instead of just boring you, I'll say that anime/manga have changed my life in one way or another.

The two anime/manga series' I've grown up with are Dragon Ball Z and Natuto. These two are arguably some of the most popular anime/manga series around the world.

What about you? Feel free to make your post longer then mine (please do so 0_0).

Inuyasha and Fruits Basket! :'D

Hm, well I didn't really get into manga until I was about thirteen maybe twelve. Actually my first manga was Kingdom Hearts Vol 1 and it actually was what got me started in the Kingdom Hearts series oddly enough. It was posted in one of those school book leaflet things (for Schoolastic I believe) you get when you have book fairs come to your school. Don't know how many schools actually have that. But you get them in Primary Schools here in England. And, that would have been when I was about nine or ten, so I didn't actually get into manga until way later.

Anime on the other hand. I was raised with the selected few animes that made it to the British TV screens. That didn't really give me much choice, but I can say firmly I grew up with Digimon and Cardcaptors. Both of the series really got me interested in them and they were shows I just loved to watch over and over again, even now. In fact, I probably have a better appreciation for them now, but yeah, those shows are great even now but I don't think anyone who doesn't live in Japan gets to grow up with a huge range of anime. You grow up with only really the classics that were popular enough for the distribution to other countries.

When I define "growing up", I refer to before I was 16.

That would be Pokemon (obviously), Digimon, Cardcaptors, Sailor Moon, and Zoids (miss that show).

I grew up with an anime with a 10 year old kid who grew up in some sort of area in Japan. He had a friend who wouldn't stop complaining about a stinking bike and keeps on bitching about it, a perverted ass friend who loves the female nurses and officers, and a yellow rat who wouldn't respect him when they met. He also a annoying "friend" who keeps on bullying him. But that all changed when he wanted to become the best anyone ever was. He wanted to catch them, since that was the real test, and training them was his cause. He wanted to travel through the lands, searching far and wide, but each of these monsters to understand, and what ability they had inside. He understood it was his life's purpose, he knew he had to protect the world, he knew his heart was so true, and courage will lead the way, he would teach his own monster, while they teach him too, he knew he gotta catch 'em all, all dem Pokèmon.

Digimon Frontier. That was the first anime I ever saw. Or was it Pok`emon? Or One Piece? Or Beyblade V-Force? Or Naruto? I can't decide! (Screams like Fred.)

I grew up watching Pokémon, Digimon, most shows from Cartoon Network of the 90's (Courage, Dexter's Lab, etc) and Megas XLR.

Yugioh and inuyasha

Dragonball Z (for anime) and Naruto (anime and manga).

Well in terms of manga, I never read any growing up, but I did watch Dragon Ball Z, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh and Inuyasha. Those are truly epic animes. And I know this isn't an anime, but it's worth mentioning: the old Thundercats when they aired on Toonami. I grew up watching Lion-O take on Mum-Rah. Those were the days. :') By the way Razorwind, you have an epic avy, Vincent Valentine is so epic! =o

Top 5 Earliest: Pokemon, Digimon, Dragonball Z, Sailor Moon, Ronin Warriors
