I found this from a youtube video and I wanted to share this:

 

Fun fact: That rather out of place "ice cream line" is actually a good line that translated horribly. The ice cream Roxas referred to was sea salt ice cream. Tears have salt in them, too. The line is symbolic, and really saying "Who am I going to cry with?"

Still doesn't save a bad scene imo but still interesting idea.But scene still lacks an emotional impact compare it to other deaths like Gwen Stacy where it affects the character for rest of his life and the matter it happens in.

Nah. You guys are playing up the drama of the scene. Nothing like that was going on.

It's like how people view the Happy Mask Salesman in Majora's Mask in a much creepier way than intended, people see tragedy in Roxas every time he blinks.

 

Your comment made me laugh so hard...tragedy every time Roxas blinks...yeah, I thought the same thing: ice-cream=friendship. Nothing more than that.

*memories of watching that scene with my sister, when I had pneumonia, and how, when I was drinking powerade, that line played and my sister cracked up laughing and caused me to choke, flash through my head*

But yeah, to Roxas, ice cream = friend, which is all Axel's fault.

 

And this thread has lost all seriousness. It barely made it to a page.

One day when Roxas & Axel were sitting on the clock tower, Roxas asked Axel "What do friend do together?" & Axel's response was "They eat ice cream together." So in Roxas' mind ice cream=friendship. It's really sad if you look at it that way. Plus Roxas & Axel weren't on speaking terms at the moment, so he had just lost his only friend. ice cream was all he knew & it was gone forever..

WOAH. EVEN MORE SAD NOW.

Eh, I like the ice cream=friendship explanation better than sea salt ice cream=salty tears. Roxas's interpreting friendship as eating ice cream, and asking who would he be friends with (since he left Axel behind, and Xion was dying), makes the scene actually sad. That line being about crying wouldn't really make me feel anything.

I used to laugh at this line so much. Now I'll just cry from it. ;~;

I hate it when people don't get what Roxas meant there. I got it from the first time I saw the cutscene and I believe it was the saddest line of the whole cutscene.
