(This is for couples exchanging gifts btw)

If a girl "owns all the games in the Kingdom Hearts series (yeah, even the PSP ones), you are a lucky fellow. Time to give back."

These are a list of presents we'd appreciate:

http://uk.ign.com/ar...girl-gift-guide

[EDIT: Inappropriate dressed (bikini and underwear) models are showcasing each gift] xD

Am I the only one who finds this a little sexist? It's for a girl gamer, and doesn't mention a single game.

I would think anyone who's "lucky enough" to have a girl gamer, would look into multiplayer games so you can have fun together, not getting her a load of pink accessories and having her dress like a hoe. The latter seems more like a present to the gift giver not the receiver.

The link was more innapropriate than I thought.

I wouldn't mind a few of those.

If I had a gamer girl, I think I would be more looking into either Videogame merchandise, like t-shirts, figures, etc., or videogames she wants.

But It wouldn't involve all the junk in that.

Well, the headset and laptop a pretty appropriate. I think they were aiming at not directly advertising video games but showing video game merchandise.

Don't know why it take Victoria Secret models to do this... >.>

I think SOME of it was okay but it's really obvious it was written by men, for a male audience, who want to objective their women.

Also, when I think about it, it's a gift guide for girl gamers. What if a female wants to get her girl gamer friend a gift o.O" I don't really wanna see any of my mates going around in a skimpy Peach costume

Girl Gamer is just some dumb-ass joke that really needs to die. Is it so hard to believe that girls play games too, just look at this site, it 65% female. The profiling is just stupid, but what gets me mad, is the idiots on facebook that call themselves "gamers" and the people who constantly bring up the subject :/

Gamer = Someone who plays games.

Does it REALLY need gender specifics?

This, this, this.

While I am highly disapproving of the sexism, I am more upset over the term 'girl gamer'. It's a misogynist stereotype that always had negative connotations attached to it, always implying it is bad for a female to play games. And the fact that IGN is propelling use of the stereotype, it angers and disappoints me that more and more people, even girls themselves, will find it acceptable. Some will even identify themselves outright as a girl gamer and challenge the negative connotations that come with it, even if they unknowingly brought it onto themselves. Just urgh.

I've lost myself in another rant again.

IGN, I HIGHLY suggest you watch Feminist Frequency. You might learn something important to keep in mind.

Agree.

Those "gamers" on facebook i never see as real gamers ._.' I don't see how posting a picture of yourself deep-throating a controller portrays how "hardcore" you are .__.'

One thing to say about this whole thing: this is stupid. Gaming isn't any rocket science that boys know. It shouldn't be any surprise to anyone if girl plays video games.

Well, another reason to not read IGN's articles

IGNorant.

I've learned not to care about these things anymore. But Girl Gamer is still one of the most stupid terms out there.

Why does it matter what gender you are? If you play video games, you play video games.

I would love an Alienware laptop.

I'm sure anyone would be happy with the accessories and merchandise. I don't see a problem with that really.

What I can see as being a little ridiculous is that apparently gamer girls need to wear as little clothing as possible in order to use these objects.

Hot girls is hot.

I want that heartless plushie. It's so cute. But do they really have to *sexy * it up ? It's like they're saying that girls like games too, but then they still advertise it for men. It makes no sense. It's like saying to girls that you can like this stuff too, but men are still in charge and gaming is still a male and men's world.

I mean even in the title it says " and girls that you wish were your girlfriend " so it's still extremely male focused. Why can't it simply be, gifts for the female gamer ? And show items that girls and women really would be into and not just assume. Oh it's pink, girls love that ! No IGN no. Stop.

Do your research and study on what gamer girls really like. I mean most of these are clothes and I feel like it's just IGN assuming that OMGZ ALL GIRLS LOVE TO CLOTHEZ SHOPZ.

They could of shown a Pac- man Arcade set that you can buy, game extras that you can buy on new games like Tekken Tag. New games coming out and maybe some of the stuff they've shown but without the sluttyness. Girl gamers are girl gamers, not playboy girls !

I agree with Amon, and with most of the complaints on this thread. But I am wondering...

Why are we discussing an article written in 2010? If they do something similar this year, sure, go at it, but getting mad about a two year old article isn't really gonna do anything.

While I don't like sexism. And agree that IGN should never be sexist. I find what the women are wearing to be fine.

You're going to see a lot more revealing clothing than that in your city. This is just the way this world is now.

And those women chose to do that so it's up to them. If you think that's bad I can't way to see your opinion on porn.

It less about the clothes and more about the thing that they try to sell as a fact: that "girl gamers" are all models and horny xD

Where are my (half) naked men then? I see only women in that article. Henne sad.

But I didn't want porn, I wanted unicorns and other stuff for girly girls. My naïve imagination lied to me.

I should try to study and not writing such an stupid text... life is unfair xD

IGN wrote an entire article to literally troll KH and its fans. It also posted a YT video ranting on how FF sucks and people who play it suck as well. Anything they say on the matter of gaming is just moot.
