For my pop culture class, I need to identify a guilty pleasure, which I will then be using in all future assignments.Th ething is, I don't feel terribly guilty about the things I like. The closest thing I could come up with, on introspection, was the fact that KH2 is one of my favourite games ever, despite me being aware of how shallow and downright silly it gets.

So my question to you: would you consider KH2 bad enough to constitute a guilty pleasure?

 

I suppose when it comes to the challenging aspect of the game, yeah.

This is the only site where people call KH2 bad

. . .hmm. I can kinda see it. I say try it for the project. besides anything can classify if given the proper view point. Heck I did a speech on Kingdom Hearts in college and go a solid B.

I don't hide it. That's the thing, I can't really think of things that I secretly enjoy...

As much as I love the game, there are a lot of flaws in it. I guess I consider it a guilty pleasure

Well I don't think that would really be a guilty pleasure. But for the sake of the project you could always just exaggerate things.

They say video games are guilty pleasures. I personally enjoy being an otaku, for I enjoy designing animes, video games, manga, toy etc.

One person's guilty pleasure is someone's normal pleasure.  I consider KH in general to be my guilty pleasure--I've only admitted I was a fan to those who had already identified themselves as fans... or I was drunk enough and the other guy said he liked RPGs.  Talking about a specific game in a big franchise like KH may take some explaining of KH in general and how KH2 fits into things.  If you can't think of something you feel guilty for enjoying, maybe you can talk about why KH in general can be a guilty pleasure.  You gotta admit, from an outside perspective, KH is a ridiculous thing to enjoy.  Running around Disney worlds with giant keys?  Donald and Goofy in combat?  Who are these stupid animu characters?  etc.  Of course, I don't know the specs of your assignment, and you might have trouble using anything KH related if it's no secret you're a fan.

I don't know the specs of my assignments either. That's what makes this so much more trouble

What qualifies as a "guilty pleasure" is more of a personal thing than a quality but they do go hand in hand sometimes. Like for some people KH as a whole can be a "guilty pleasure" because well...it's a Disney game where you play as a character cosplaying as urban Mickey while he kills things with a magic phallic symbol key sword and traverses he Disney words with with Donald and Goofy. Then that's not mentioning that all the original characters are animu. Try explaining that to your hard core CoD friends.

 

As for KH2 specifically and its quality, while I don't think KH2 was all that good it's not so bad I'd call it a "guilty pleasure". Unless there are people out there that are really secretive about it I've never known anyone to be embarrassed about KH2 specifically when they enjoy the rest of the series. But since you you don't feel personally guilty about any thing you enjoy but KH2 and only by comparison then go for it.

I wouldn't really call it a guilty pleasure (for me anyway) I kind of enjoy KH2 and KH in general. I wear a KH shirt when I go out sometimes, so I don't really mind that people know I like it.

Yes, it's my least favorite Kh game. Maybe Kh13 can be your guilty pleasure. Do you openly tell people you have close to 6000 posts on a Kh forum?

Personally, I've kind of always felt video games to be a guilty pleasure.  I mean, they're not productive (mostly), and are easily considered a huge waste of time.  I think it'd really depend on the approach you're taking in your assignment, but I could easily see how Kingdom Hearts could be made into your guilty pleasure.  Given that you'll need to keep this topic for a long while, it's probably best that it's something you enjoy and won't get sick of after a while.  It's a lot easier to continuously write about something you enjoy.

I agree with this.  When I first played it, I really sucked.  Now it's relatively easy (Except Demyx ._. I hate him with a passion, and a vengeance)

KH2 (up until BBS, now there's a mix of KH2, DDD and BBS favs) was normally the favourite KH game of fans so I wouldn't really call it a guilty pleasure...

If you spend a long time playing video games when there are more important things to do, I would call it a guilty pleasure.  That's all video games though, you could write about all your favourites

Well it was one of the easiest kh games. It's gameplay, I will admit, was one of the most addicting in the series. It's story is just kinda moderate. I'd say if you play it a lot then it could be considered a guilty pleasure. Other than that not really, imo.

Y NO LIKE KH2

Well, you could say Kingdom Hearts is a guilty pleasure. You gather all those hearts knowing that in the end some kiddo with a key will ruin your plans

You spend your time playing those awesome games and then you notice you didn't do stuff you were supposed to.

The only things I find silly in KH2 is the Atlantica world, and the "The ________ are gone!" from Roxas part... and also "Totally owned you lamers!"

 

A few awkward and clumsy moments do not a bad game make, and thusly a guilty pleasure it is not. The only time KH becomes a guilty pleasure is when someone comes along and says shit about it... then you feel guilty for liking it because of social pressure, but then you get over it in like two seconds because firetruck.those people. It's your opinion.
