Disney has announced they no longer have plans to make any more hand drawn animated films. I adore hand drawn animation and how far Disney has pushed it over the years. Their art has been a large part of many childhoods, including my own, showing us how to convey great stories, great characters, and great art through animation. They have helped us grow, learn, and imagine beyond what we thought we could imagine. I connect these words to the end of any great artistic phenomenon, "I'll be back when you call me, no need to say good bye''

I heard about this the other day and it's terrible ;~; I'll miss the way things used to be.

I heard this from Doug Walker. It is quite sad... Goodbye, childhood.

I'm not entirely surprised....I can't remember the last cartoon movie they put out

I will cherish those I grew up with though :)

... I was listening to this when I opened this thread. Aw. :

Didn't they announce the same thing back when Home on the Range came out and flopped big time?

And then they went back and did Princess and the Frog? Just saying...I'm a little dubious about press releases like this. >>

They had some of the greatest animation EVER, it's not gonna be as "magical" if this is legit.

If memory serves me the last great Disney movie to be hand drawn was The Lion King.

"Winnie the Pooh" is the most recent traditionally animated entry in the Disney Animated Film Canon, having released just two years ago in 2011

Just wow.  The world's changing so fast.  I'll really miss those hand-drawn films (well, they're probably computerized now, but you know what I mean; the 2D ones).

I bet they'll still make straight-to-DVD Aladdin sequels.

Don't you ever mention those again >w>

Disney has also said on more than one occassion that they'll no longer make princess movies yet they keep makeing princess movies. So I wouldn't be too worried about this news yet.

Will Disney animation be like pokemon now? DUN DUN DUN

Well at least Tangled gave them a good reputation.. but I will miss the old style..

Im gonna cry !! Lilo and stitch was one of my favorites when I was five I used to watch the tv show

Was treasure planet hand drawn animation? cause Treasure Planet is my #1 All-Time favorite Disney Movie.

I'm sadden to see that hand-drawn animation is now gone. I'm scared about the future of animation now.

After how successful Princess and the Frog was?

But wat... hand drawn might be out. But what about CG made up to look like handdrawn, ala Paperman?

The reason behind this is that Disney has been outsourcing a lot of its animation to China, simply because they have to pay people less to draw it there. Unfortunately, due to China's harsh rules and punishment, any animators who make a mistake have a finger cut off. As it turns out, the inexperience of the Chinese animators caused them to make many mistakes, so long story short, none of them have any fingers left so they can't draw anything anymore. Therefore Disney will now be converting to foot-drawn animations. Let's see how long it lasts.

...Disney

you're making too many mistakes
