  • That's because Mako is a scumbag and Korra is a bit of a bitch.    I'm not going to lie, I had a similar situation happen in my circle of friends. Which is why I didn't hesitate to take away Korra's

There was nothing left to wrap up and it ended fine. I don't see how you wanted more. Maybe that's on you.

My problem just obviously lies with this new piece of information, because to clarify, I do not support KorrAsami and I think that having two teenage girls becoming lesbians with one another in this type of show is wrong. I could honestly care less if Korra winded up with someone else because we already went through that with her only other love interest, Mako, and it ended already, but this other thing I am clearly upset with.

I wanted Korra to be alone...I thought the show was going in that direction. I thought they would make her an independent woman who would be like "I don't need no one in my love life"

Whelp. Someone's against lesbians then.

No he's not...he's against the idea of having lesbians in a show for kids.

I am not against lesbians, homosexuals, or anything of the sort. I may not agree with their lifestyles, but I'm not against them regardless.

The idea of Korra and Asami, two heterosexual teenage girls suddently becoming lesbians at the end of this series, a children's cartoon, is just wrong to me, especially when it was better off left unsaid rather than just thrown out there in the open.

I agree, she doesn't really need a love interest at this point in time, and in my mind, I still believe that she's just friends with Asami.

Also, thanks for reinforcing my point.

*pops in, being nosy*

I don't watch Korra but I have seen some gifs and angsty text posts of it on tumblr so I think I'm entitled to an opinion here ahem *tips fedora*

What if....Korra's just...bi?

What, lesbians aren't suitable for children? Oh no.

Well the show's creator doesn't care.

Some people believe that showing people of other sexual orientations to children can influence into thinking that they are like them or mix them up...And a lot of parents think so too. That's why it's (according to some people) not suitable for children and that's why there is no representation of the LGBT community in children's show. They don't need it anyway and you don't have to be so sarcastic --'

Korra is bi, they confirmed that.

Oh shit nice. Thanks! I'll leave now seeing as I don't even watch the show lol

Exploring sexuality is completely normal.

Show's creator inserted sarcasm too.

Michael Dante DiMartino also posted a blog. Looks like the majority of people support the decision of having Korra and Assami as bi.

Well the show's creator doesn't care.

First off, I'd like to point out that the children who watched Korra, who don't spend their time wanting Korra and Asami to make out, will not even acknowledge this information at all.

Second, no they are not suitable because this is a children's cartoon about the Avatar, the four Nations, and bending, not lesbian romance. The fact that it was pretty much thrown in at the last minute with no real bearing or hint makes it even less credible.

That is NOT confirmed by anything except fan theory and with the ending of Book 4. And even if it was, my opinion still stands:

I never said it wasn't normal. I said that some people thought it shouldn't be shown to children, including myself.

Lol. There were hints. There were multiple hints in book 4, such as Korra ONLY writing to Assami.

Lol. Go read what the creators said.

"Lol" <- This is rude. Please stop.

I know there were hints and I know what the creators said and a) the hints weren't that well defined nor telling and b) I don't care what the creators said, I should be able to interpret the ending in the way that I choose without them ruining the open-endedness, saying it out loud considering that its a children's show is wrong, and the fact that you even have to debate this disgusts me.

The fact you're against this disgusts me. There is absolutely nothing with Korra and Assami being bi.

Except that it is a CHILDREN'S CARTOON and no hints of lesbianism, strong hints that anybody could pick up, were ever present except if you already shipped KorrAsami just for the sake of doing it.

Look, I'm not asking you to agree with me, but I want people to at least understand why. I'm perfectly fine with different types of lifestyles, but that will not keep me from disagreeing with this on a writing level and on a moral level.

Well one of the biggest children content creator's in the world in Nickelodeon green lit it. I wasn't shipping Korrasami until the hints came. I was shipping Korra-Bolin before hand and then Korra-no one. :P

I'm not going to agree with you anyway. I fully support the show's creators and so do the majority of people.

They obviously didn't know what the creators were planning outright or else they wouldn't, don't be a smart ass.

And if you don't, then at least tell me you understand why I feel the way I do, because if so, I can accept that.

Ummm, go read what the show's creators wrote.

I understand why, but it's so silly.

EDIT: Nevermind.

"Ummm" Seriously, knock it off.

Okay, to be fair, I did read that part, and I apologize for being misinformed. However, my opinion still stands regardless of what shit was approved or not.

Yeah, and we were so close huh? But nah. :/

Hey, I agree that they should have just remained friends :/ You know what who cares! In my mind they're still friends. I didn't think that Korra had to end up in a relationship anyway. Ugh why creators why D:

Before you jump the gun to call me a sexist,no I don't have a problem with same-sex romantic relationship cuz I barely care about it in story-telling as long as the story has provided legit reasons for such shipping and it actually helps said story

That being said,I read that the KorraAsami shipping is actually official. This feels a bit forced if you ask me

I mean throughout the whole entire show she's been in love with Mako and been dating him for almost the entire duration of the show aside from maybe her training and the 3 years time-skip.....sure I know all 4 are long-time friends but where did this sudden romantic interest come from?

Was the writers being forced by people to add Same-Sex relationship just so they can appease a certain group at the cost of their own creative freedom and vision?I wanna know

Again I'm not sexist and I don't care if she loved Mako,Bolin,Asami or whatever as long said relationship was planned and built upon.

Here it feels like:Oh shit we have to include it just because everyone now is doing it and we get tons of complains from shippers so let's appease to them.

Other than that, that's my only complaint.I still love the Legend of Korra a lot, sure the original Avatar The Last Airbender was much better in my opinion but I still love both series to death

There were hints throughout book 4.

Korra dating Mako was more forced than her dating Asami imo; and there were hints leading up to Korra and Asami's relationship, like Korra writing only to Asami or when Asami comforted Korra when Bolin and Mako weren't there to do it. I thought it was perfectly natural for two really close friends to start dating, same-sex or not. They both showed interest in men in the past so they're most likely bi, which is good because people who are bi need more representation.

Yeah but this was added at the very last minute of the show and never got built on before

If they really wanted to present bi-people they should've done that from the very beginning not at the very very end

Also, writers do have the right to not feel forced to add something and have their creativity stomped on for the sake of appeasing to a specific group

In my opinion it seem that it was building up from book two and all the way up. It doesn't feel forced at all to me, it feels like a natural growth from friends to lovers
