People say that a "hardcore gamer" are gamers that play games that are "manly" like Sports, CoD, shooters, ect. While others say that a "hardcore gamer" are people who play games of all types of genre. But is there really such a thing as being a "hardcore gamer" when there are a lot of people who have different views and opinions on what a "hardcore gamer" is? I mean, I consider myself a hardcore gamer becuase I play a lot of games of different genre. But what do you guys think. Is there really is such a thing as a "hardcore gamer" to you? i honestly, think it depends on the people who view what that actually means and what games you play to be considered a "hardcore gamer". But idk, that's just my thoughts on it since a lot of people have different thoughts on what a "hardcore gamer" is.

I've always envisioned a hardcore gamer to be someone who plays games all day every day. If that's the case i'm definitely not hardcore, I would just call myself more of a avid gamer.

I don't think it really matters at all.

I don't like the term "hardcore gamer" because I feel like it's just a way for people to self-pimp themselves and put themselves on this gold untouchable pedestal above the "filthy casual gamers". With that said, I think there's a similar difference between being "someone who likes to play games" over a "gamer", too, which is why I hate the term "gamer" in general.

A hardcore gamer to me is someone who dedicates most of their time to playing video games, be it RPGs, FPS, or whatever. They are the ones who hand your ass to you when you compete against them and tend to participate in the Major League Gaming competition.

 

Not the noobs who think they're better than everyone else because they play CoD.

exactly we dont have too classify ourselves, we are who we wannabe were are F*cking Nobodies,  we have Hearts!

I play what I want, when I want, and how I want.  I don't care if I'm "hardcore" or not.  Games are supposed to be fun and I'm gonna play how I want to achieve that.

I think to answer that question you have to look at other forms of media and see if the term applies anywhere else. Can you be a hardcore reader? A hardcore film-viewer? A hardcore music-listener? I can see people surrounded by books, constantly going to the movies and stocking their DVD collection, and rifling through stacks of records and I'd say yes, those people are what I'd describe as hardcore. Not because they are better at doing those things than others or more devoted, but because those hobbies are the foundation on which they've built a part of their lives.

 

Because gaming is more competitive in nature we associate being a hardcore gamer with being competitive with others, using phrases like "you're not a hardcore gamer if" or "only hardcore gamers (blank)". Being a hardcore gamer has to do with the placement of games in your life, not how good you are at them. 

I have heard exactly what you said Tails is that Hardcore gamers are only those who play sports games and first person shooter games competitively like in multiplayer matches but to me hardcore gamers are those that play video games like every day and stuff like I think of myself as one because of that but people have different views on it so whatever I guess

It's like the word 'nerdy', or the even the word 'gamer'. People use it however they please, even if the general idea disagrees with them.

 

I would imagine a hard core gamer spends most of their time playing video games. That's my opinion..and people are entitled to it. Though frankly, 'hardcore gamer' is a loose term that isn't very well explained or used.

"Hardcore Gamer" is a term coined by basement dwellers to make themselves feel better. There's no difference between Hardcore and regular gaming other than the size of your e-peen.

 

Not to be confused with pro gaming of course.

Ive seen people say Nintendo games(Mario, etc) are for casual gamers, while games not made by them are hardcore. Doesnt matter to me though, I just play games, and have been for decades.

Hardcore gamer is just title some idiots give them to themselves so they could feel better about themselves and have some feel of superiority to other gamers. They usually have one game/one type of game they like to play a lot and since they think that game is best, they also think that that game/type of game is for hardcore gamers. Whatever it is shooters, MMOs, RPGs, platformers or anything else

But as Amon said Pro players are totally different thing and must not be confused with these.
