As we know, Birth by Sleep: Volume Two got cancelled. We know it was going to be set in the Realm of Darkness.
Now, Nomura said recently that there'll be new scenes that connect Re:coded to Dream Drop Distance. Could there also be new scenes that account for whatever story Nomura was planning for BBSV2? I mean, 2.5 is going to include everything from BBSFM, including the Secret Episode (why would they retcon a secret episode out of existence?), so it'll be a bit weird to have Birth by Sleep -Volume Two- written in the screen, and then nothing happen to it.
Perhaps this is the reason the release date hasn't been announced yet, maybe Nomura is writing the scenes of BBSV2 and doesn't know how much time it'll take, and therefore they can't announce a release date until they have an idea of when this is going to be finished, or else, they would be rushing to complete it fast and leave a rushed plot.
Honestly, there must be a story for BBSV2 and why Mickey didn't rescue Aqua. Dialogue from Re:coded outright Mickey and Yen Sid know where she is (they state only Terra's whereabouts are unknown). I honestly think there's another person besides Roxas, Naminé, Xion, and TAV who are lost, but the only reason we haven't seen so far is because this person doesn't have any direct connection to Sora (Sora physically met Naminé and Roxas, Xion is inside him, and Ven's heart is inside him, which gives him memories of Terra and Aqua), and that this person was planned to be involved in the plot of BBSV2, and may be connected to the reason the King couldn't save Aqua. Perhaps, if Nomura hasn't scratched the plot he thought completely, then it has a chance of it being included in KH2.5.
You can believe my theory or not, but if you remember, by this time last year, KH1.5's release date had already been announced and they had to reconstruct everything from the first game from scratch. KH2.5 doesn't seem to suffer from this problem, from what we know, and Nomura said this time the transition to HD has been going much smoother, and not to mention, that Re:coded is much shorter than Days.
Given all this, there must be a reason for them not being able to announce the release date thus far, and the only one I can come up with is new content, which could be BBSV2.
