I don't think you can find anyone who could say that they've played and thinks every single major FINAL FANTASY game is great.
If you like the originals, there's a good chance you won't like the latest games. But what do you expect. These games were made for small cartridges while the latest ones were made for Blu-rays. Everything changes. Technology changed, video games changed, Square changed, so did FINAL FANTASY. For better or worse. That's your opinion. Some will love it. Some won't.
For someone like me who never played the original versions (NES/SNES & PSOne) I shouldn't expect to enjoy them now. I wish I could, but I don't. I find them boring and annoying. I prefer the modern games. I'll bet most people out there will either say they loved the classics or loved the modern ones.
The games have changed massively over the years. In my opinion for the better, maybe you prefer the old ways. That's fair enough. If I'm playing a long game, I'm playing for the story. I'm not going to play a 30-50 hour game for a story that a primary school student could have written. If you play for the gameplay, that's fine.
I enjoy games that were released in 2014. Not 1994. But hey, that's just me. You can enjoy games from the '80s and early '90s if you want. I'm not going to stop someone from liking something. Lol.
I'll always have the greatest respect for classic games like the original FINAL FANTASY games but sadly I just can't enjoy them myself. But that's okay, they're only video games. I'll continue to enjoy all the latest games. I love all the X and XIII games and the other recent numbered games (VII, XII and XIV) are pretty darn good too.
