How would you guys want the battle system in KH3 to be ?

Since we know the command menu is returning, that's a good thing, but ive noticed in the D23 trailer that sora is using 3 hit combos. Could this mean we are going back to KH1 battling system?

Im not a fan of the 3 hit combos, so i just hope that the trailer is only showing this cuz its early in development, and not because its gonna be in the game :( Hopefully it starts from KH2 and elaborate on that to make it MORE AWESOME :D

Your ideas and thoughts on this ?

what he seid

A combination of KH2, BBS & 3D would be perfect.

either of these.

Anything the series has tried besides CoM cards and Re:coded Olympus Coliseum

Nomura already said it's going to be KH2's battle system but even better and highly evolved.

I'd like to see the "jumping-transferring-on-the-wall thingy" . I'd say it would be good to see a combination of Kingdom Hearts 2 and Kingdom Hearts DDD battle systems .

I really hope it is much more than KHII's "press Posted Image and Posted Image to win" gameplay. I mean I liked KH2 as much as the next person but the combat was far too easy. I would have loved a hybrid of the system used in KH1 & 2 and the Command system we saw in BbS/Re:coded/3D.

But alas, Kingdom Hearts III is going to be a game developed for those who liked KH1 and KH2, not those who have stuck by the series since so I'd expect a game that is very much similar to those.

KH2 + BBS offspring would make me happy.

All I hope is that they don't make it like KH re:chain of memories, I really hated those card systems.

The card system in KH2 I liked a lot better, especially the triangle button in combos and boss fights, I thought that was really creative, hopefully they don't make the system too difficult but a KH game is good either way ;)

I personally liked the Reaction Commands. They showed Sora's creativity and true abilities, but they could be more challenging. Also I'm hoping I'll be able to use the BBS/KH3D moves like Mega Flare and Break Time while keeping the KH2 Battle Command. I don't know how they're going to do this, but I hate how the number titles don't have these awesome moves.

If the combat and enemies were complex enough that you had to really think during EVERY fight then KHIII would really stand out positively from the rest of the series.

The developers should really take a lot of risks with the combat and combine the best of all the old games plus add in a lot of new stuff since the way people latch on to nostalgia and fear change, whether KHIII has a old combat system or not, people will still be saying the older games were better/harder/funner than KHIII so might as well go all out with the system.

If I remember correctly, Kingdom Hearts 1's battle system wasn't three hit combos, because as you leveled up you could learn Combo Plus abilities which could extend the number of hits on your combos, so I have to stop you there. :P  But anyways, on topic, Nomura did say that KH3 would be a culmination of everything that has been leading up to this point, and I'm guessing the battle system will have a bit of everything from previous entries, and well, the gameplay in KH3 will practically be the best anyone has seen in the series.  God, I can't wait to have the game in my hands already. :3

Oh no I liked the Reaction Commands too, but the problem with them was there were far too many of them to make the fights difficult. Each major boss fight had the Reaction Commands and it just felt that it was too easy to play. I can't agree more with you being able to use moves like Mega Flare and even stuff like Blizzard Edge and others. They really hit something with the Command system in the later games and it would be such a shame to simply remove it from KH3. The good news is that the Osaka team is working on KH3 so at least they know how the command system works and hopefully they can incorporate it again in some way.

I guess I don't just want the game to be complex or anything but I found in games like BbS/3D that enemies and bosses were a lot tougher to beat if you weren't careful. 3D's flowmotion aside, I think the battle system was pretty good in those games to have an actual strategy. After all, I don't think someone can fight Vanitas in BbS by just spamming X or anything haha.

The problem with taking risks is, this game is one that many people have been waiting a long time for so much so that it's on the same par as FFXV at this point and people are always going to latch onto nostalgia (for instance a number of people like KH1 over KH2 because it was harder and the story was simple). True, people will say the older games are better but (and in this instance the people who ignored everything post-KH2) they'll be quicker to blame the game rather than simply point out that they grew out of series. It'll be interesting to see how people who haven't played anything after KH2 but pick up 2.5 react to Birth by Sleep's combat system, hopefully they like it and the developers can see confidence to take that risk and implement something into KH3.

It really is tough to please everyone especially in a long awaited sequel. It's a shame that FFXV isn't already out, It will probably be too late for developers to incorporate anything from feedback they receive of FFXV's gameplay into KH3. That might be the case with 2.5 too but I can't really say for sure. As you said BbS and 3D did provide a good level of difficultly, especially near the end so I'm sure KH3 can be something most people will enjoy.

Hopefully there will be enough vocal people who praise any good changes they make. It would be nice too if KH3 attracts a lot of people who never played the series.

I personally won't mind if they don't use the command system and just simply go back to the KH1/KH2 gameplay but that's mainly because at the end of the day I'm in it to see how Xehanort's story arc ends. Though I can't help but be a little greedy and want the best possible game. The fact that they are putting some sort of flowmotion into the game is enough to see that they don't mind changing it up, not sure on the keyblade transformations yet though but we'll have to see :P

Hmm, I wouldn't be opposed to an improved KH2 battle system, maybe mixing in parts from BBS and DDD.Though, I have to say that I honestly want a new magic system. Just different from the past games.
