That doesn't mean that his arguments are air tight and his reasoning isn't fallacious. 

I think the article's a little biased. The problem with Lightning isn't the fact that she's a woman, in matter fact it's a good to see a female protagonist. But it's the fact that she's been thrown into every opportunity they can find on every title. For instance, FF Xiii-2; it's about Serah and Noel journeying across the timeline. Of course she's looking for lighting, but yet somehow Lightning becomes the very center of everything. Even speaking of her very presence brings forth an conflict to the storyline. Everything's about her, the world revolves around her. Even the game cover and even the trailer shows Lightning, yet the games not about her. In Dissidia 012 Lightning becomes the leader and center of the team. Worst part is, she's the only character in the game without a correspondent villain. She's the most milked character from the entire series, most of the time she's not even needed to be there. There's a lot more good characters from the Xiii series, and she's the only one square ever milks.

The reason they're spamming her so much is because Square is desperate to create the next Cloud,the one character that might cause the FFVII effect again........well that an Motomu Toriyama having a ginormous fetish for her to the point he managed to convince his staff to shove her into everything so he can fulfill his perverted fantasies(just look at Lightning Returns)

And Lightning Returns just goes into an absurd degree to the point of it feeling like a Lightning fetish,I mean they literally made her into a freakin goddess and had her kill the god of her world cuz she suddenly can do that.....and don't get me started on the creepy "Behind the Square" staff trailers for the game

Yeah the creators say she is the heroine, but I found Vanille to be the driving force behind the story; Lightning barely made it out of side-character status. I mean, she did have a major role in the beginning, but I felt that halfway through the game, Lightning just became a side character.

I have no idea why Lightning became the leader in Dissidia 012. All she did throughout the majority of the game was complain about her companions and how she was stuck in this 'mess.' Sorry, but I think in real life people would not follow someone like that, especially during a war.Heh, I've heard some people say that the reason why FFXIII-2 and Lightning Returns was created was because it was part of a ritual to bring Lightning to life and become Toriyama's precious waifu.Yeah, I'm not holding my breath on Noctis either. Eh, there's other female characters I'd find more "groundbreaking" than Lightning. Lara Croft, Yuna, Tifa and even Agni (to a certain extent) seem more round characters than Lighting in Square's department. I don't really count softening to Chocobos as an example of her character (Cloud and Noctis do it too).

Lightning is definitely a unique character that makes her different from other video game characters. Though she does come off as harsh and distant at first, she begins to open up and let people in. The fact that she made character progression and got through her inner struggles is good and rewarding enough. I love Lightning for who she is and her characterization really got to me. She is one of my favorite Final Fantasy characters along with Cloud.

Yeah, I know that Vanille was originally supposed to be the main herione of FFXIII, but they changed it because Lightning was the first character they showed off in the trailers. Its sad too, because Fang was originally supposed to be male, and Lightning was going to have current Fang's personality. That would have been so much cooler and more unique (that, and I like Fang). But no, instead they turn Lightning into a female Cloud and Squall (although I actually kinda like Squall). How original...

 

Ugh, I absolutely hated how Lightning treated WoL and Kain! WoL, Kain, Golbez, Kuja, and the 589 trio are my favorites! I especially find it hypocritical that everyone in Dissidia 012 adores Lightning, even though she's being a complete ass to everyone, but Kain, WoL, and Squall get called out on for being too quiet and sticking to themselves. Sorry, I'd rather be with these type of people than someone who's bitching at me 24/7.

i was expecting this to be as bad as some of the KH "gaming sins" i've seen but nah this was good. the KH ones i've seen have a tendency to either just point things out and chalk them up as sins or nitpick to an annoying level.

This was funny it actually reminded me that Troy Baker was Snow and during some of his lines I'm like, wow that's a Kanji line lol, still I enjoyed Final Fantasy XIII and this is funny
