Around 300 staff are to be offered early retirement following plans to completely restructure Sega’s business.

 

“Local organisations managing packaged game software in Western markets will be streamlined”, the company has said, with its San Francisco already confirmed for closure.

 

Sega intends to alter operations to focus on mobile and online PC games, which it deems to be its growth areas, as well as its Sonic and merchandising businesses.

I'm guessing in terms of Sonic the games are only developed for mobile & PC now.

The title is sort of misleading but this kinda sucks... However.. Only a matter of time before Nintendo probably buys Sega...

Now, to be fair, Sega has been teetering on the edge of death for a while now. Still a little sad to see them go (eventually).

Yeah, I stopped buying their games after the PS2 era. I tried a couple on PS3 but didn't really like them.

It's only a matter of time before Nintendo buys Mega Man. Once both happen, they'll only need Pac-Man and they'll own the four biggest gaming icons of gaming history.
