Favorite studying environments?

Posted

From experimentation no doubt, what have you found to be your favorite environment to study in?  I'm experimenting with this myself, though I'm finding that I'm not very productive when studying at home as opposed to other places.  I really used to enjoy studying at the campus library, but they're closed during the summer so I'm in need of finding a different place to dwell.  I've often wondered if coffee shops would be good, but that also means an increase in coffee bills! : P

Coffee shops are great. :D But they get expensive so I just get a small black coffee. It gives me an excuse to conquer their tables for cheap. If I'm really motivated I can actually manage studying at home. But sometimes I feel too confined, so I'll go out to a coffee shop. There's activity but not enough to distract you (usually). That's why libraries never really worked for me. You need to consciously focus on being quiet... not to mention most of them have anti-food rules so I can't even drink coffee. :(

As an introverted person I prefer studying at home. Other environments are okay but I can't be really productive.

I have to agree with Draco coffee shops are great for studying! (Maybe that's just the coffee lover in me speaking) However, I admittedly don't study in coffee places as much as I used to, the ones by my house get too crowded for me to concentrate thoroughly in, as do the ones by campus. Honestly, I find myself most productive when I'm studying at my university's library. I like studying in the comfort of my own home too, but it's *so* *so* easy for me to get distracted in my own house, so I try to avoid that.

I would prefer the quiet solitude

I've never really had to study all that much (granted, I haven't yet been introduced to the wonders of college), but the only place I've ever been able to get an iota of studying done is at home. Even then, I'm not sure how much I actually gained from it.

I do know that study halls during high school were pretty much worthless for studying though. Most of the time I just talked with my friends, though sometimes I did get a homework assignment done.

I've never tried a coffee shop, but I also hate the taste and smell of coffee, so it probably wouldn't be the best option for me. The college library, on the other hand, sounds perfect, but then I haven't been able to try yet.

I like to study in my college library or a public library.

When I need to write something, I do the research at home, because then if I have an idea I can immediately write it down.

If I have to read something that's not extremely urgent, I find my favourite tree in a nearby park and get comfortable there.

My college library is also pretty great, mostly because it's deathly quiet all times of the day. It's always packed, but everyone understands it's better if they just shut up and read.

I like study at coffee shop too! Sometimes, I love to study at food court too. Some food courts at my country allow some students to study there :)

Same here, me too

Being an introvert I get a lot of study and work down in the comfort and silence of my study room.

I find that being in noisy places can be extraordinarily distracting

I actually like studying where there's lots of people, like a common room or area like that, and have an ipod that is playing lyric less music. I find that the background of people wandering around and the white noise helps ease the part of my brain that wants to wander and focus on different things, allowing the part of my brain that wants to study to focus on doing so.

I like to study in my home, usually with my computer in front of me listening to some concentrating songs without lyrics (piano songs, Two Steps From Hell you name it)

Coffee shops are the best for me :3

i like being in small isolated cornors, or in the park, under a tree by a fountain...on a nice day with a book in your lap. you cant beat that. the only sucky thing is its so nice and your haveing to study. at my school. i like the little crossroads under the library, theres not alot of noise there, and when people do come threw its normally a nice breeze, also if i walk down the walking trail on school grounds and go off the trail theres this nice little creek i like being at and hanging in.
