Mathematical KH3 Release Date Speculation

Posted

Hey! So I searched and searched through the pages on this site to get this information, but here is a little backstory:

Kingdom Hearts 358 date revealed at Jump Festa = December 20, 2008

Release Date JPN = May 30, 2009 (release date announced 5 months before JPN version releases)
RD ENG = September 29, 2009 (NA gets game 4 months after JPN)

Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep
Date revealed — September 2009 (Forget at which conference, possibly TGS)
Release Date JPN = January 9th, 2010 (release date announced 3 months before JPN version was released)
Release Date ENG = September 10, 2010 (NA gets game 7 months after JPN)

Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance
Jump Festa 2012 Date Revealed — December 2011
Release Date JPN = March 29 (release date announced 3-4 months before JPN version was released)
RELEASE DATE = July 26, 2012 (NA gets game 4 months after JPN does)

Now, most of the time North America gets Square Enix's games 4 months after Japan has received them.

What I'm going on about is the fact that Tetsuya Nomura has decided a release date with Disney -- he just can't announce it yet. But the fact he said right after that we can expect more information at D23 in November, I and many other people are lead to believe we will receive the release date there.

So, if Japan usually gets the game 3-5 months after the release date is announced, then Japan could see this game in February - April 2016.
North America could expect to see this game July-August 2016, 3-4 months after Japan has received the game.

But he could also just wait until Jump Festa to announce the release date, as he has done with two of the games in this list. If he announces the release date at Jump Festa in December (which I believe is more likely to be honest) then Japan could see this game March-May 2016, and North America could see this game August-September 2016.

I do not believe that this game will see a huge gap in localization as seen with Birth By Sleep, mostly because voice acting has already began for the game.
What do you guys think? I really think that KH3 will not only have a release date next year, but that we will begin to see the game released in English in Late Summer-Early Fall 2016.

I believe that they wont announce it at d23, i have a strong feeling that they will announce it at tgs, and just like you said, the game will most probably release in NA around fall or winter 2016

I too have a strong feeling that this will be an international release. I found it very amusing that the trailer was in English

Is it wrong that I don't want it to be released too early? Plz Square don't rush the development.

I don't think they're rushing development; it's been in development for almost 4 years

plus 100s of talented people are working on it lol so it's gonna be amazing regardless

No, 2 years. But I appreciate your optimism.

you may have a point... Plus Roy Conli and so many other English Disney directors are working on it. It may be international, same with FFXV

Well they have to have some confidence in their progress if they've decided on an exact date.  However we don't know if it's an exact date or just a partial one.

Well, I really don't know, but I'm hoping that the game has a worldwide release date!  Because like Yuya mentioned, I don't want people spoiling anything about the game! D:  If the game releases worldwide, then everyone in the world will be able to get the game at the same time!  Damn, I really hope the game gets a worldwide release! D:

I'm probably wrong because my memory isn't the best, but I thought Nomura said they would release to Japan and NA at the same time?

Im pretty sure KH3 is going to have a worldwide release

i dunnoooo~

i have a feeling that it will release worldwide :)

KHIII did had a trailer for both English and Japanese

I kinda noticed it too

Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 day: 2009Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep: 2010Kingdom Hearts re coded 2011Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance: 20121.5 remix: 20132.5 remix: 2014Kingdom Hearts unchained X: 2015Kingdom Hearts 3: 2016?

I don't care when KH3 releases as long as I live to play it.

He is right the project started from 2011 for the script.

Pokemon X and Y had a worldwide release and it is currently the most successful 3DS games to date.

Back to topic, a worldwide release is necessary. People love to leak games because they're impatient (just look at Super Smash Bros). A game that is as secretive and as grand as Kingdom Hearts 3, different release dates will damage the overall sales for the games... why? for starters, leaks will make certain consumer just watch the game online and now bother paying the £45/$60: that is a loss of sales - ever since Final Fantasy 7 and Kingdom Hearts 3 was present in E3, Square Enix are really getting a lot from their investors and shareholders and separate release would have Square Enix lose so many of their shareholders/investors.

Alongside that, it's evident that the console games are more profitable in the west. Japan has turned into a mobile and portable market. Because of their intense social media and work culture, the Japanese market has nearly abandoned the console market altogether. A global release, or better yet, the west may even get the game before Japan. Both of these reasons are logical before it will encourage hardware sales increase for Japan to purchase Kingdom Hearts 3.

Long story short, a worldwide release will happen. Square Enix will be straight up stupid not to do so.

And Europe will still get it after everyone else

Dude, you did read my previous post? that would be financially detrimental for Square Enix to do that.

It was a joke mate  Just a little dig at the fact that Europe ALWAYS gets things afterwards.

Unless it's Inazuma Eleven

Oli got it xD

Kingdom Hearts 3D was released in Europe before Australia and the US.

As somebody living in England, that early release really made my month (and it was a depressing month too)!

That was great, I was sooo hyped! But I just meant as a generalisation, no offense I live in England too!Can I ask if you remember the ABSYMAL advert for 3D? It made me want to gouge my eyes and ears out!!!

Eugh, the cringeworthy memories. Yeah, they should have just used the official Square Enix advertisements. That would have sold so much more units!

Regardless, It's still one of the best selling 3DS games of all time! That's an accomplishment for Disney/Square Enix.
