Shana09 5,769 Posted July 8, 2015 (edited) PSA: Double Posting We've seen a huge amount of double posts (including triple and quadruple posts and such) over the past 5 months. We used to usually only see them 5 times a month, but now its even gotten 4x that point. Since its been done several times, I think its a good idea to inform those who do it of the rule and what double posting means. First off, here is the rule on Double Posting which can be found here (http://kh13.com/forum/forum-3/announcement-2-kh13-rules-please-read-this-once-it-wont-take-long/): What is Double Posting? Double Posting is when you post right after your initial post. For example: You can't do that, its against the rules. There are solutions to this, which we will get into a bit later. Is Triple Posting allowed? No, it isn't. Quadruple posting isn't allowed either. They all fit as Double posting. You can't chain post like that. Why is it not allowed? To prevent spam and for the forums to not look cluttered. If we have like one member posting every thought they have onto a thread while chain posting, its going to not go well. We've dealt with 5 posts in a row that go like this, its not a hypothetical situation. What are some solutions to my Double Posting? One solution is to edit your initial post to add in more of your thoughts. For Example: You see the edit button in between Report and Hide? That is where you will prevent yourself from double posting. The second solution is to post right after another member posts. For Example: If you're not patient enough, then edit your initial post. It is what I do. NOTE: We do not condone spam, this was just an example. Those will also be removed. What if I posted already, but I want to reply to quote another post and reply to that? First, you find the post you want to quote. Second, you select "MultiQuote". Here it is as bright as day: It is located as options to the bottom of the post you want to MultiQuote, along with the Edit option I showed you before. This will appear in the bottom most right corner of your screen: Third, you go back to the post you made and select Edit. This will appear on your screen: Fourth, you select "Use Full Editor". This will appear on screen: Do you see the quote? The quote is automatically placed into the post. No extra step involved! Lastly, do whatever you need to do and then select "Submit Modified Posts". Here is how it looks: This is your result! Well done Weed, well done. [*]What happens if I continue my Double Posting? Continue on and you wont have to post again. Posting restrictions will be placed. I hope this all clears any confusion according to Double Posting. If you have any questions please ask below and I or any of the mods will respond back. Q&A (From Members) Q:Does Double Posting rule apply to statuses as well? A: No it doesn't. Just do not spam (for example, "fhirfher" 20x in a status) and you will be fine. Q: Will this apply to Roleplays as well? In case someone forgets something throughout the RP, and I need to remind them through a post, will it be fine if I make a separate post to remind them even if I Double Post? A: This will be an exception. However, be sure to abuse the exception for any other reason. You can double post if it relates to the RP, not for any other reason such as spam. If it becomes an issue, the privilege would have to be removed. This doesn't excuse the entire Roleplaying Forum, just only the Roleplays themselves. Also to note, there is a thread called Team Awesome RP that will be excused to spam. Q: What happened to the Auto-Merge feature? A: We don't know, but it is clear it hasn't been working for these past months. Please follow the methods above since the feature isn't cooperating with any of us. Q: Does this apply to the Random Forum? A: Yes it does. It applies to all forums, even the Roleplaying forum. However, Roleplay threads themselves are the exception. Q: What happens if I am on my phone and since using this site is uncomfortable on it, I mess up and double post? A: We understand accidents happen. Its just deliberately double posting, spamming and such is the main issue despite all of our warnings. If you do see yourself double posting just report it and let us know (or contact one of the mods if reporting is just as uncomfortable). We'll deal with it and understand the situation you are having. Q: What about if I have an art thread (or something like this) where I update such thread with new pieces/entries/etc.? There are times where I update it and then, lets say 2 weeks later, I want to update it again but if I post my new entry it would be considered Double Posting. What do I do? A: These type of threads are an exception to this rule because it is the creator's thread a where he/she presents their work. So yes, you can Double Post. Note that necro-posting or trying to bump it up is not allowed. You have to double post with that new entry, if not, we'll think of it as something else. Jake 1,488 Posted July 8, 2015 I've definitely seen tons of it by new members throughout general discussion on the forums. Glad to see this being addressed so members don't do it anymore.

Veemon 1,540 Posted July 8, 2015 The only issue I really had that ended as a double post was when I was trying to post, but it wouldn't load faster, so then I clicked on "Post" again, and it resulted in mine being posted twice. This was a total accident, I promise. Luckily a moderator alarmed me about it and fixed it for me. I promise to be a little more patient from now on. Thank you very much to Cricket. You are a big help to the community! oh, and uh... you guys too, I guess.
WakingDawn96 1,166 Posted July 8, 2015 Question about double posting, what if a post becomes so long that you need to separate it into two or three posts? Like on the status and it's comments there is a limit to how many words can be used and actually show up, is posting two times okay in that case? And what if you need to quote your old work so in case somebody missed it they can see what they needed to see?

Like on the status and it's comments there is a limit to how many words can be used and actually show up, is posting two times okay in that case? And what if you need to quote your old work so in case somebody missed it they can see what they needed to see? Statuses are a total different scenario. As long as you aren't trying to spam statuses or comments, you are completely fine. Do you see like this "3 Dots with a line connected to them" looking thing in the top most right corner of every post? If you right click that and get the link, you can then send it to the person who needs to see something. And by sending it to a person I mean through a PM, chat or a comment on their profile, if they ask of course. We don't want to ask people to see something they never asked to see. It would make them uncomfortable, but thats a different story. So by short, no you can't quote to re-post. Try using the method I just told you. What happened to that feature that blended two recent posts together if they were from the same person? To be honest I never really used it (I edit my post and such) so I don't know if it went away or not. But we've dealt with a lot of Double Posters, who a good percentage use that feature that happens to fail on them these past months. Maybe it still works, I don't know. Preach it! It's gotten ridiculous and it's a very simple request/rule to follow. It is, and its a surprise its gotten this bad. 2 MickeyTheMick and HarLea Quinn reacted to this

HarLea Quinn 26,501 Posted July 8, 2015 What happened to that feature that blended two recent posts together if they were from the same person? This used to work but I'm pretty sure it doesn't anymore from what I've seen. Even then it only worked if you double posted in a short enough time frame. Jake 1,488 Posted July 8, 2015 Oh one question. Does this apply to the random forum or no? I know that the random forum normally isn't moderated that much since that's a place where all the random and silliness happen on the forums.
WakingDawn96 1,166 Posted July 8, 2015 I only asked the second question because of RPs, and if you know anything about RPs, you would know that people half the time don't see or remember something and that leads to them not responding back to you, which makes you have to find a way to tell them what they might have missed so you aren't left behind in the story because you were never responded to. And I do believe that if you are joining a RP, you automatically sign up to see and responded to other people's post, and so I don't think that whole "we don't want people to see what they don't want to see" thing isn't really a choice in a RP, since you have to see what people post to be caught up in the story and be able to respond. Also, I never try to just spam someone, but I can't stand being automatically cut-off from my words on a post of the Internet. So I usually have to post a couple of times on a status if the word count cuts me off. I don't want to spam people, but it's either what I said happens or you all remove the word count! Yeah, we'll allow it as an exception. I'll add it to the PSA. But as long as anyone doesn't spam, it is fine. Or else the exception would have to go. Yeah that is understandable, that was always allowed. By spam I mean like "fohperfhprfher" 20x in a row or something like that. If nobody on that status wants it, then its gonna be an issue. Isamu Kuno 2,512 Posted July 8, 2015 I try, buy my computer got fries so now I have to use my phone. Sometimes I'll hit the list button and nothing happens for a while, so I press it a couple more times and then it puts up the post for every time I click. I mean, I think most only happened in statuses so far but it could still happen on threads. 1 MickeyTheMick reacted to this

We understand stuff like that happens sometimes (heck I've had it happen to me in the past too) so we're not going to hold you accountable if it's an accident like that, it's mainly the deliberate double posting, lack of editing posts, and spamming that's a problem. I'd say if it happens where it's an accident you should contact one of the mods and let us know that's what happened so we can clean it up, or report your accidental posts so we can see them and clean them up too. There are always going to be new members or older ones who never saw it or maybe want to rediscuss it. As long as it isn't news, videos, etc. that have been posted already, it isn't that big of a deal. Of course if there are two separate threads of the same discussion in the same day or around the same time, then that will be merged. It would be better to report the thread and then link the older discussion so we can merge them. And usually if the same thread is being repeatedly posted again and again we make a mega thread to merge all posts. Its a confusing situation on how we deal with it. But for members, if you see a similar discussion posted again just report it with a link to the older discussion and we'll deal with it from there to see if its fine or if its not fine. Mystics Apprentice 2,397 Posted July 9, 2015 (edited) I am *so* glad that this is being addressed. This has become such a growing problem that it was getting ridiculous. I do have one question concerning role-plays, however, one which I'm guessing will probably come up sooner or later. A lot of role-play hosts sometimes have the need to update their role-players in their sign-ups thread about the status of the RP, even if no one has posted in the sign-ups in a week, and I'm wondering if it is then permissible for the host to double-post if it is an important update that no one will see if they merely update their last post? This sounds a bit different from double-posting to me, but I just wanted to check. Edited July 9, 2015 by Mystics Apprentice

(A bit lazy to request desktop site->start zooming to click buttons, etc.) Still glad the multiple posting is being reminded, with helpful tips as well. I'm a sucker when it comes to doing some of those tips. Edited July 9, 2015 by OmegaForte
