Sora96 17,256 Posted July 10, 2015 The Order: 1886 has received a negative reception due to length and the bigger focus on story than gameplay. But to be honest, I loved it and it wasn't that short. I'd estimate it took me 8-11 hours and the story was amazing. If you're on the fence about it, I say go for it. 1 WakelessDream reacted to this

Headphone Jack 1,147 Posted July 10, 2015 I'll pass. From what I've heard it doesn't sound like a game I would enjoy, but that's just me.
Nero Kunivas 3,046 Posted July 10, 2015 Poor Value for money, woefully poor Gameplay and boss fights with Lycan's who are LITERALLY all the same boss, only TWO significant boss fights both of which are the same, a ludicrous amount of stupid decisions on the part of the Main Character, The Order themselves and the Lycans, bad storytelling, lack of explanation for....anything really, the NERVE to set up an undeserved sequel and the fact that it's basically a late Tech Demo like Ryse: Son of Rome? My apologies, Sora96 but...I just don't get how you can like it. 6 TheFinalPersonaKeyblade, Setrex, Headphone Jack and 3 others reacted to this
BlankShell 638 Posted July 10, 2015 I liked it too! Interesting story, world, and decent gameplay mechanics. It wasn't perfect, and I can see how the abrupt ending would turn people off, but I don't regret buying it.

Dio Brando 5,810 Posted July 10, 2015 (edited) It's even more linear and on-rail than Final Fantasy XIII and that's an accomplishment.Though it's not as long so it's not as torturous This doesn't deserve the 60$ price tag especially when other games in the same genre like Gears of War did it soooo much better with a better narrative and a worthwhile gameplay Poor Value for money, woefully poor Gameplay and boss fights with Lycan's who are LITERALLY all the same boss, only TWO significant boss fights both of which are the same, a ludicrous amount of stupid decisions on the part of the Main Character, The Order themselves and the Lycans, bad storytelling, lack of explanation for....anything really, the NERVE to set up an undeserved sequel and the fact that it's basically a late Tech Demo like Ryse: Son of Rome? Heck the game bombed in sales and ratings especially with the already better competition existing on the Ps4.I doubt all those people who didn't like it were all wrong Sure anyone can like what they want but I hate when people say we're angry mobs for not liking something Edited July 10, 2015 by Smash Mega Koopa 2 Nero Kunivas and HeyMouseSayCheese reacted to this

Dio Brando 5,810 Posted July 11, 2015 Well yeah, story most important thing to me. If that's the case why not try Persona 4? yeah, and linearity helps with building a story I highly disagree cuz it doesn't always work that way especially when it comes to world-building Not every expansive game is a bad one

Ever tried to play an RPG that isn't by Square Enix? As for being grindy, if you know what Persona to use and battke the golden hands you'd barely need to grind that much Edited July 11, 2015 by Flaming Lea

Ever tried to play an RPG that isn't by Square Enix? As for being grindy, if you know what Persona to use and battke the golden hands you'd barely need to grind that much Setting is not story. Story is events. Because the final battle between light and darkness takes palce in a kitchen doesn't mean a thing about the story. That's atmosphere, world building, lore, that sort of thing. A story is a sequence of events, and just by that definition it should be clear hy linearity benefits it You din't read my post properly. I said it's full of dungeons with no story. That's my big problem with Persona 4. We get these dungeons based on people's inner hidden selves... and it jsut boils down to a bunch of identical corridors and maybe a text box. It's a huge contrast to the rest of the game which has all story and next to no gameplay. I play a lot of games. Too many games. In terms of RPGs not made by Square Enix... well besides the obvious Tales Series, there's a great trio of apocalypse RPGs for the DS: Radiant Historia, Sands of Destruction, and Avalon Code. I've also played a fair few indie RPGs or free RPGs from my days in the fan gaming community. Persona 4 is grindy. Literally, the RPG gameplay is just grinding, there's nothing else to the fights, except when they throw a mini boss or boss at you. Otherwise you have to actively choose to be in fights to make sure you're a high enough level that the bosses don't obliterate you. The golden hands thing is like saying you can rely on Metal Slimes for grinding in Dragon Quest. You have to find them, they have to not run away, and it's entirely possible your first time through you won't have the right magic weakness to beat them. Even then, they really don't have great payouts. They're a nice bonus to find when grinding, but hardly a method for eliminating it.
