I'm disappointed of FF7's combat system

Posted

I may be in the minority but this could've been a cool thing to have a turned based rpg on a console, finally bringing these kind of rpgs back to a big crowd would've been great of square, that was until it ruined my hopes and stepped on it, and smirked as it did just that.

I hate the big new crowd who don't give the original system a chance, especially when people these days have a attention span of a child. Before anyone says it SUPPOSE TO BE A RE IMAGINING OF FF7, NO NO NO. It was never stated that this was the case and no one before used this term for A REMAKE. everything doesn't have to same but the core should be intact, it seriously feels like i'm looking at ffxv, though i'll probably buy this before that game. To those who enjoy kh don't bring that type of gameplay in Final Fantasy. seriously they could have just done a field system like tales of series and combat something like xenoblade.

Oh well, i guess i'll have people just tell me, just let square screw you in bum, while us new fans enjoy this so called masterpiece.

Someday FF9 will get a remake and it will be what I want.

And oh please feel free to reply, i dunno how others on here have taken the news, I have only discussed it with Merilly to be honest.

Even though I've never played a final fantasy game and I'm happy that the remake is going to be more like kingdom hearts, but I do understand why final fantasy fans are disappointed.

That's the thing though man, kh fans cannot force them to make every title a Action rpg, we have a enough of those

I do remember something about changes being made.

STORY CHANGES, not much on gameplay

yes, I  know. I wasn't asking for FF7 to be an action rpg, but since the want it to be that way, then I'm happy. not saying I hate traditional rpgs though. again, I understand where MANY FF fans are coming from. I would be pissed if they turned Kingdom Hearts 3's battle system into more of a traditional rpg.

To each his own. I'm incredibly excited about this game and couldn't be happier about the FFXV/KH style gameplay choice. I played the original and liked it a lot but I feel the old turn based system would be too outdated for this kind of remake and a very lazy decision from SE.

Just want Final Fantasy 9 man...it was magical, a true masterpiece.

I want to feel the magic again, with Hironobu Sakaguchi one last time.

Please... T___T

Persona 5 would like a word with you, besides a Traditional rpg is not lazy, they could go all out with animations and mini games.

We do have a turn based RPG coming to console next year: Persona 5.

This is what Nomura said about the combat.

"We are going to be bringing dramatic changes," Nomura told Official PlayStation Magazine, "But we want to make sure it’s still recognizable."

Turn-based would be steps backward. It would be criticized for being an outdated battle system. Nomura's games have never featured a turn-based battle system.

okay I UNDERSTAND, but for me, I'm kinda excited to see the FF7 is going to be of an action rpg.

you whippersnappers just don't get it, what do you think this is huh? Final Fantasy set a standard for turned based rpgs, to throw that away is blasphemy!!!

Square played us like a damn fiddle!!!

Very strange source, never heard of that site, heard of games radar though. could've said it at e3 directly instead of this bullshit

Oh okay Turned based rpgs are dead in your eyes?

They should only belong on handhelds?

turn based game on a console? Persona 5 says hello.

I like turn based battle systems, but final fantasys always felt kinda boring to me. Its like just pick your best attack over and over again.

That's seriously the only one other than the Studio Ghibi rpg coming on ps4, it's sad.

I agree, though I'm just disappointed, not mad. I prefer turn-based to action for a combat system, so seeing them make another game with the Kingdom Hearts gameplay is bothering me. Final Fantasy XV being an action RPG was bad enough, and now we've got this. Looks like I'll just be getting my turn-based console game fix from Dragon Quest XI this generation. Still plan on getting the VII remake, but I'm less excited now.

you're nitpicking the littlest thing of rpgs, seriously that can be said for action games too, just use your best gear and best gun or whatever

Yeah, is that for the 3ds?

And i wasn't too thrilled to begin with, but square could've pulled it off, they're simply playing it safe and it's sad. People could finally bring that stigma of rpgs are too boring to turn that around.

It's on the 3DS, PS4, and being considered for the NX. I have doubts that the PS4 version will be localized, but if not, there's always the NX version for next generation.

Yeah, a big name turn-based RPG could generate a lot of interest in that style of combat. Too bad Square's going for the same style that their other two major games are using. :/

You mean Ni No Kuni II?? As far as I know, turn-based combat was never confirmed for that game.

And the original Ni No Kuni was real-time combat with menu options (which required a LOT of timing correctly).

I also have a source from GameSpot if you'd like to see.

Also, we have Dragon Quest XI and South Park: The Fractured But Whole coming, i think, in 2016, both turn based

Still some skill in it, and not a action rpg.

Been a FF fan since X, and I went back and played most but I really don't care for it to be turn based. Why would I want to stand still and press X to fight sephiroth when with today's technology we could have a more immersive battle in real time. Imagine if KH was turn ba- look at chi, would you really prefer every KH game played like that instead of fighting in real time?

Stop bringing kh into this, why would you want to basically play the same game? why not have differences between each series?

Well, they said they would bring drastic changes to the combat system...I don't why anybody is surprised honestly. The last Final Fantasy games were action oriented and Nomura said that if people wanted a turn-based system like the first game, they should play the port because the remake would be different. FF7 leaving turn-based combat was very predictable.

"If we had to go back to turn-based combat on a new FF, that would be taking steps back, and we don't want that." - Yoshinori Kitase

Seriously? that's disappointing, not even considering that could have brought new combat entirely rather than a kh clone, because that was shown basically, hell ffxv has kh over it

Not surprised, disappointed.

and I seemed something more skillful than ffxv combat or something different like i explained in my brief opinion
