I'm disappointed of FF7's combat system

Posted

I may be in the minority but this could've been a cool thing to have a turned based rpg on a console, finally bringing these kind of rpgs back to a big crowd would've been great of square, that was until it ruined my hopes and stepped on it, and smirked as it did just that.

I hate the big new crowd who don't give the original system a chance, especially when people these days have a attention span of a child. Before anyone says it SUPPOSE TO BE A RE IMAGINING OF FF7, NO NO NO. It was never stated that this was the case and no one before used this term for A REMAKE. everything doesn't have to same but the core should be intact, it seriously feels like i'm looking at ffxv, though i'll probably buy this before that game. To those who enjoy kh don't bring that type of gameplay in Final Fantasy. seriously they could have just done a field system like tales of series and combat something like xenoblade.

Oh well, i guess i'll have people just tell me, just let square screw you in bum, while us new fans enjoy this so called masterpiece.

Someday FF9 will get a remake and it will be what I want.

And oh please feel free to reply, i dunno how others on here have taken the news, I have only discussed it with Merilly to be honest.

Seriously? that's disappointing, not even considering that could have brought new combat entirely rather than a kh clone, because that was shown basically, hell ffxv has kh over it

Not surprised, disappointed.

and I seemed something more skillful than ffxv combat or something different like i explained in my brief opinion

We don't really know that much about the combat system yet. It could have a lot of features we don't know about. I'm sure it's different from FFXV...It would be ridiculous if it was the same.

Edit: BTW, Kitase said that the combat wasn't entirely action oriented. He said there were very strategic elements to it and stuff so..yeah. To me, it looks like a cross between the CSB from FFXIII and the original battle system from FFXV (versus XIII at the time)

FFXV has KH all over it since what remains of the original KH team is still working on it.

It won't be. Looks like the XIII team is making it.

okay, I'm not so sour anymore but i thought this was gonna be another Fire emblem X shin megami tensei

I'm excited for the KH-like battle system. I've played the original turn-based, and changing it up would be pretty exhilarating. It'll be like playing a whole "new" game. Well, assuming I have a PS4 by then.

I just realized something.

WHAT HAPPENS TO KNIGHTS OF THE ROUND?!

I'd like a 10 hour animation, plz.

I like the gameplay of the original it was fun and I'd also like to see more turnbase RPGs on consoles, but at the same time I like what I saw of the remake and I've always prefered action RPGs over turnbase,so I don't mind.I like it when remakes change some aspect of the original game as long as its interesting and fun.I play Final Fantasy games for their story anyway so as long as they don't screw that up and the exploration it will most likely be much better then the original.

Well at least you aren't against but i hope its not entirely ffxv or kh combat ya know?

I'm ok with the change. Don't get me wrong, i like turn based Combat System, but, i do love me some action combat stuff in a RPG game.

I personally prefer this style of gameplay, but I think that has more to do with taste. I like games where I hack and slash and maybe include some RPG elements but I also understand why a lot of people prefer the turn based style of gameplay

A remake is full on, a literal REMAKE. Now, I'm positive that the majority of the fanbase out there is extremely excited for these changes. Kitase and Nomura have chosen these changes, not because us "kh fans" asked for it, but because Real-Time combat is trending in the gaming community as a whole. Turn-based combat is a fad, in fact, it wasn't even a thing come FFVII. VII used the ATB system that has continued to grow over the years. They plan to make the remake everything they've  ever wanted it to be and it's only possible on the PS4.

You can thank me later.

That's seriously the only one other than the Studio Ghibi rpg coming on ps4, it's sad.

well what can you do, ya know? SE, for some reason, feels like turn-based combat isn't what the kids these days want, when I'm sure there are dozens of indie games that prove otherwise, along with bigger releases like the previously mentioned Persona 5 and Ni No Kuni 2.

I want you to know, that I absolutely love FF7's gameplay. Although, I'm still hyped for this game. I think that a combination of Kingdom Heart's gameplay and Final Fantasy 7's gameplay sounds incredible TBH. I knew the gameplay would upset a lot of hardcore Final Fantasy fans, but people need to realize that there is a lot more about FF7's gameplay, besides it being turn-based, that makes it a joy to play. I the magic, limit, materia, etc. is still intact, I won't have any complaints.

STORY CHANGES, not much on gameplay

If you were up to date with the news when this game was announced, you would've known that during the aftermath of E3 Nomura confirmed that the FF7 Remake was doing away with turn-based combat. In fact, Nomura said the gameplay was changing drastically, but that the story was only going to have minor plot details changed.

Final Fantasy VII remade by the XIII team. Good times.

Problem? Here's some advice from Nomura:

"The "HD" PC version is coming to PS4 already. We don't need two of the same thing. Even if we beautified and upgraded the visuals -- something that's bound to happen. If it's a full remake, then of course, we want to take a different approach."

That's the problem. Not being up to date.

Kitase said that the game isn't fully an action game like FFXV and KH3. It's too soon to completely bash the game's combat system.

They'll probably shorten it or change it.

Think about it, people who are okay with this are people who just played the 13 series, kh and are excited for ff15 mate. And i did mention it didn't have to be turned based but come on SOMETHING else, like i mentioned in my post.

Honestly I don't see why people thought that the kh fans caused the FF7 remake to be more actiony. It makes no sense and plus, Some kingdom hearts fans like myself, aren't even FF fans.

That's a bit rude, i wasn't entirely excited to dig deep into the news of the project and word of mouth never mentioned it being drastically different and i was expecting changes though action combat isn't where i wanted the series to go, you didn't even read my thoughts on it did you?

If it's like the XIII series it's because it's the same team.

Some people got into Final Fantasy because of Kingdom hearts, like myself.

Yeah i know, you mentioned that.

I think you're generalizing the people who are okay with this...I was a big fan of VII's combat system and I'm still okay with this. I also played VI, X, XIII, all the KH games, and IX as well.
