New details on how Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover will tie into Kingdom Hearts III revealed in Dengeki PlayStation summary

Jake

An article by Hokanko-alt blog has provided a summary on the Kingdom Hearts content for the Dengeki PlayStation 600th issue that will be released tomorrow. Tetsuya Nomura, director of the Kingdom Hearts series, has provided some details on the story for Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover and explains some details that will be brought to the story of Kingdom Hearts III.

Throughout the story in Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover, details on the "Lost Master" will be revealed and then continue in Kingdom Hearts III. Master Xehanort's Keyblade will be introduced in Kingdom Hearts χ[chi], which then ties to Kingdom Hearts III. Aside from all that, the traitor originally mentioned in Kingdom Hearts χ[chi] will finally be revealed in Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover.

Translations of the interview summary can be read below thanks to @_ikenie & Kayla Copeland (nichiei.translations@gmail.com).

Mini-interview with Nomura in Dengeki. Unchained talks about the Lost Master, further expanded upon in KH3. The setting of Xehanort's keyblade is discussed in Unchained and is connected to KH3. 7 Lights and 13 Darkness - other than that revealed in KH3D, these will be hidden until the very end of KH3's story. There is a link between 0.2 BbS and KH1-2's stories. Narrator of χBC is Chirithy. KHuχ: Chirithy is the player's guide. Master of Masters is the teacher of the 6 Disciples. The traitor will be revealed in KHχ Back Cover.

--About the cover:

Tetsuya Nomura's comments in this issue:

-There is a congratulatory message regarding the overlap of issue #600 and the announcement of KH2.8.

-The king (presumably King Mickey) and the others were drawn beforehand for the sake of expediting the schedule, but now they're being recolored to create a sense of unity.

-They've depicted this on the front cover several times.

-He's going to talk about KH2.8 and KHIII

--KHIII

-The “Lost Master” is talked about even in [KHx], but it will be used in KHIII

-The creation of Xehanort's keyblade will be discussed in [KHx] and will tie into KHIII

-Kingdom Hearts will also be discussed further, more than the series has so far

-D23 (November 3rd) will feature a “theater” concept, so he's hoping we're looking forward to the video!

--KH2.8

-The part of KH3D that explains the 7 lights and 13 darknesses will be carried on through the end of KHIII

-Since “Keyblade Master” is a special title, what's necessary to become one will be taught

-0.2BbS and KH1-2's stories will be linked together

-Chirithy is the one speaking in xBC

--Khux

-Chirithy is the player's guide

-The “Master of Masters” is the teacher of the six apprentices, and it will be revealed in xBC who the traitor is

This just makes me wish it was out today. T_T"

And darn, we have to wait until Back Cover to figure it out? Well, I still hope we can get our hands on Unchained soon this year so that the wait won't be as agonizing.

It talks about both. Lol.

Read beforehand. ;)

Hokanko just says "chi." I just assumed Unchained, since that's what most people are playing, over the browser game, I assume. I'll be more careful next time!

And thanks, Kayla, for the accurate translation. :D

Both stories are the same thing, its just the gameplay in the two are different and KHX[chi] is ahead a little I believe, but they follow the same path.

So wait the traitor will be revealed in both Unchained and Back Cover? I would see it be in one or the other but both? Eh ok not that big of a deal but just seems a bit odd, still waiting for that English release of Unchained still

Only now they might take place in different dimensions. :P

Why do I have the sliiightest feeling that Riku might be the traitor? I mean, if you put the pieces together... I had the feeling before they started mentioning a traitor in the series, now I am going with this feeling quite strongly than before...

You should really say Unicornis, as it is as of yet unconfirmed if reincarnation is a thing. Right now it's just a very popular fan theory. A fan theory that, I might add, has a big, glaring princess-shaped hole in it. Besides calling Unicornis Riku as we know him is like calling Sora Roxas. Even if reincarnation is a thing, they're different people in this life than they where in that one. Thay may have the same heart, but that heart has been shaped by different experiences, giving them different personalities.

Anyway, I'm not sure I'm comfortable with all this information being spread across so many version of the game. It'd be one thing of we got some information in χ, some information in Uχ and then have all the information from those two versions collected together in χBC but it worries me that they haven't said this is the case yet.

It's a traitor among the Fortunetellers not the cast now so it can't really be him

Of course, there's going to be, but what if it's something more than that? There's time travel in the deal now, and also, if this will be already revealed once Back Cover comes out, why is it going to be so significant during the entire duration of KH3. Something smells fishy about this. What if Riku is a traitor too and Back Cover is sort of foreshadowing this?]

P.S. Are we all really forgetting the biggest traitor clue yet which is the color of Riku's hair lol. That's a big warning already.

Why would they have Riku be a villain again that wouldn't make senses also Young Xheanort said that he has a resistant to Darkness so they can't really manipulate him again so again wouldn't make senses as to why he would betray them

I guess there are good reasons for why it might and might not be true. Ya but what if there is more to Riku than we know already and Nomura is waiting to address everything in KH3. There's gotta be an explanation for the gray hair. They could have given him a totally different color. Maybe he's hiding something from us? Also, what about that cutscene in Recoded where he smiles back at Ansem before entering the portal to kidnap Kairi?  Fishy I say FISHY

The silver hair is to create a contrast between him and Sora. The same reason behind the pale skin and athletic build.Aso for the continued significance there's another explanation. Xehanort. If the reincarnation theory pans out (despite the issue with Kairi) and Xehanort is the reincarnated 6th apprentice, boom, there's your cross-generational traitor. Edited by Isamu_Kuno

Still why silver? Why not black or green? xD

Because those are dark colors and wouldn't have contrasted as well against Sora' dark hair. Remember, it was a much darker brown in the first game than it is now.
